Talking "Hammerfel, You Suck"

A PM I got on TNI last year:

Subject: "You Suck"

"So I'm making a rare visit to the TNI forums because I'm kinda bored, and I see the banner links to your dio story. I figure I'll just take a look, see what you have up. I was hooked instantly. Your story had a cool silent opening sequence, very natural dialog (loved the line about penguin wings!) and very impressive special effects. I loved the red alert lighting! So, it was great, but like many evil dio stories, it was incomplete. So here I am completely engrossed in your story--and then pow, it's over.

So, you suck.

Thanks for the great story! Looking forward to more!"

Most hilarious back-handed compliment I've ever gotten.

I get stuff like this from time to time, Mostly its about "how dare you do this to my childhood memories cause now I can never look at Indy/Vader/Hawk/insert name the same way again, pretty funny though."

I think the weirdest one was "I liked the effects, but they suck, pretty good though." Never really figured out what the guy was saying.

Well thats just outright funny...

But then again I bet feedback like this is one reason to keep doing what you do...I would assume "fans" that are "pissed off" because they dont get more is pretty motivating... It shows that they are hooked to your story/stuff and want to see how it plays out... so I guess they are "diojunkies" and you are their dealer who arranges their "daily" fix...so to speak.

And I dont blame them, the same thing happened to me with Violentfix's dios, I was so dissapointed / angry / sad /omg! /WTF?? / why.. oh! WHY???when I heard/read that My brothers keeper is "cancelled"... but I understand his reasoning...real life comes first.. and thats the way it should be of course...

But messages like that you got must be humbling, as it shows that the guy clearly put some though to his mail... instead of types like: nice/awesome/keep it up...

I better stop now... I'm starting to rant out of control...

To be honest, I hate it when someone doesn't finish a diostory. I won't name names but there is a lot of amazing work out there that is still not finished. It's worse when the author just "disappears". I know they have their reasons but it bugs me.

its like watching an episode in a series, then getting the series canceled after season 1 (just when it was starting to get interesting... DARN FIREFLY! ehem....)
