So, there were a few oooohs and aaaahs over my shot with the Trubble Bubble, so here's a few shots to show how I did it.
So here's the general set up. I have this giant piece of black bristol board I use for background. I use set pieces from Heroscape as background dressing. I use stands for the figures who are more difficult to stand up, but I always make sure when I take the picture that the stand is not in frame
And this little number has helped me take alot of nice shots. It's the guts from a Christmas card I got a few years ago that lights up and plays music. I pulled the speaker off it cause every time I take a picture I didn't wanna here electronic Jingle Bells. It's not a complete circuit, there's a small metal pad which needs to be pushed down onto the circuit board to complete the circle.
So here are all the parts together. Slam the lights off, keep it dark. I set my camera up on a timer so I have my free hand to turn the light on and position it just right as the timer goes down. So there ya go team, that's how I set up this shot.
