The question that should be asked is "Why did you make Spc. Altitude in the AOCI 7 pack, couldn't you have just made Ripcord and used the proper Marlon Wayans head? Is classic black Ripcord something that would have negatively effected sales?"

Dial Tone becoming a woman wasn't a Hasbro decision, the dude writing the comic came up with a female tech character as a new character Hasbro said "No new characters, take a name off this list" the writer chose Dial Tone, and no one cared because Dial Tone sucks Quote:
G.I. Joe is a fictional toyline with a target demographic of 7 year old boys, proper military protocol doesn't even factor. I know your a big fan of martial arts figures, I don't remember the US army ever having a unit of ninjas, maybe ask Hasbro that! |
I sent these in on Monday as not to miss the deadline since I'll be at work.
1. In the original toy line, why was the Alley Viper given such a odd color scheme? The Night-Viper and a few of his other fellow Cobras from that year had less "outlandish" colors, so why did the urban specialists wear orange and blue? 2. Why were some of the 25th Anniversary figures, such as Roadblock, Bazooka and Pilot Scarlett, lacking the double-jointed knee that had been standard at that point? 3. Will we ever see low-light made? |
We got the answers!
Hi Graham, Here you go... In all honesty, none of us were here when those figures were originally designed so it is hard to say for sure. One theory is that G.I. Joe has always been a reflection of Pop culture of the time. In 1989 when the Alley Viper was released, bright neon colors were very cool. From a military standpoint it could be inferred that as these were Cobra urban specialists they were not meant to blend in, but rather to be so obvious as to be intimidating. Early on, some figures did not have double jointed knees by design, But later on it became the standard for all figures to have double jointed knees. Low-Light is a character that comes up often in discussion. While there are no current plans, he is definitely on our radar. |
I feel like they answer like the teacher in the Peanuts! - A wha wha, wha wha, wha wha wha!

not to be argumentitive but I don't find bright orange to be intimidating! The Nazi SS uniforms were intimidating!

Anybody who wears hunter-orange into combat has got to be totally fearless.

Maybe they think the ally-vipers will blend in with a background full of flames. Like.. they light the city on fire and it's flames everywhere.
