We can only blame Hasbro so far. Personally, I think Hasbro should've taken a stronger stance and made the factories in China do the figures over.
I agree with that, especially if the product isn't meeting the advertisement's proclamations. I've heard so many mixed reviews on these I am not in a place to judge without seeing these for myself. One person says they are great another says they are lame because of rush jobs sloppy paint apps and gimpy knees.

If the figures are poorly constructed, then yes it would unsettle fans that they'd have to wait longer due to a put back on the release, (kind of like releasing console games) however despite this most fans would be pleased to know hasbro have addressed the problem and rather than rush them out they have hauled them back to change them and get the factory to get it right.

Course we are on the outside, we don't know what there budgets are for this line, don't know who's in control and don't know the full Situation.
All i know is that i've heard alot of people complain and alot of people are happy with them.
Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens next.

Believe it or not, GI Joe toys actually have deadlines! The whole subject of the 'overly large' Beach Head is on the other boards. You guys really gotta check out that thread on JBL because it discusses how the Chinese factories will change up things on products and not ask. Seriously tho, if the product coming over is crap, then why is Hasbro letting it slide? Why don't they step up and have things redone, budget or not? Cuz in the end, the company loses consumer trust by allowing this stuff to end up on the shelves. Certainly, it's gotta be cheaper in the long run. *shrug*

John Warden is the new guy who seems to basically be in charge of most of the 25A stuff (at least the looks of it, etc).

Warden is NOT a fan of "updated looks".. he wants classic characters in classic uniforms. The "updated" Serpentor was not his idea, and by the time he was made aware of it, it was too late to change him back. This is apparently true for a few other figures and/or certain aspects of some of the figures.

There will be an additional wave at the very end of 2007.. so expect some 2008 stuff a little early.

According to Warden, Hasbro did NOT order any mid-forearm swivel joints on figures that did not have gloves (Duke, Flint, etc). They were all supposed to be wrist joints that the factory in China changed without authorization. True? not true? That's what he said. He plans to work many of the current problems out, & they are well aware of them (the mid-forearm joint, poor elbows on some figures, the "sitting problem", etc. Improvements won't likely show up before 2008 because the 2007 figs are more-less at the factory stage already.

Vehicles are being strongly considered, but don't hold your breath until the figure line is well established & running smoothly.

Warden absolutely wants to do both comic and toon characters... he pretty much confirmed it. He avoided confirming exact names, but there are very obvious ones that always come to mind.. Venom, etc.

It was actually Warden's idea to do the silver logo trooper because he liked the viper glider pilot.. & then the red logo's would be available in the 5-pack. When told that most fans would probably appreciate the red logo for the troopers, he said that he is a HUGE blueshirt/army builder fan & plans to basically have blueshirts available continuously.. similar to the SW clones/stormtroopers, etc. In other words, every year should see 1 or 2 new blueshirt release(s).

The black & gray Timber are supposed to be dead even at 50%-50%. he has no idea why the black is showing up as more rare right now, but suspects that as the figures come out, the 50-50 will become apparent.

He mentioned that Stalker will be a 50-50 variant too.. his camo colors inverted (similar to the 2 comic pack Stalkers, where the colors were reversed with the second Stalker).

Dwight is off of the Joe line now.. he's working on another line that Hasbro believes will be huge next year.

Beach Head's head is pretty big.. Warden directed the sculptor working on ti to make it smaller, but as they kept doing revisions, they ran out of time for the head change, so Warden was forced (Hasbro deadlines) to send Beach Head to the factory as-is.

Warden DID hint that if the line does well, he very badly wants to go back and re-do a few of the early figures (Duke, etc), however, capital for a re-do can only come from solid sales.. soooo... not sure what to expect. The re-do would mostly be about the corrected joints.

Warden is not a fan of painted weapons. He said that it takes multiple paint washes and a lot of money to do that. We'll likely not see many painted weapons after 2007, but this is a good thing (in Warden's opinion) because all the money saved on the painted weapons will go towards the actual figures, etc. They WILL, however, continue to get unique accessories, even though they won't be painted.

*whew*

That's about as much as I can remember from what AJ said.. hopefully when he gets back from the con, he'll chime in.

wow awesome info thanks a lot i like all blk weapons anyway you can always paint them, i hope they make a trooper 6 pk, i think this new guy is doing well i like the look of the figures and if they update the functionality even better, i seen someone put recondo gloves on flint it looked great but i am going to try putting this dukes gloves on him if i ever find the 25th guys :(
http://www.yojoe.com/action/03/duke12.shtml ,
any one have this combo to try out and tell me how it looks/ works?

this launch reminds me of when the joes came out with the straight arms first and then went to swivel arms and the figures just got better and better.

Straight arms to swivel arms was an improvement, unfortunately I can't say the same about the move to the 25th ann figure style. :(

Comicon 25th Anniversary Playing Cards (http://members.aol.com/thefirefly/temp/joe-cards.jpg)

That some use new artwork, that practically tells us these characters are coming for the 25th style line.

I never would've though HISS DRIVER would be made so soon.

Also, looks like they are gonna swamp this line with repaints.

Pretty disappointing, I must say. Cheap-arsed repaints with a comic pack Gas Trooper head thrown in as a "Jet Pack Trooper". Hasbro must think we all love wasting money on trash when they offer up c.r.a.p. like this!

Cobra Commander looks at least good - as for me. Storm Shadow has a small problem with Cobra on his face mask (that supposed to be a Cobra logo? ok, nvmd...), Grunts look... well... like bigger 3 3/4 figures - but I was always damn curious WHY on Earth they're equipped with Dragunov-like sniper rifles??? Have you seen any grunt running around and assaulting anything with a sniper rifle? Hasbro is weird.
And the jet pack trooper looks... I dunno - as for me more like for a Sgt Savage line...

Again - disappointing

saw these a few weeks ago. hated the idea of yet another commander, another stormy, hes outdoing snake's this time around. the troopers i can understand, because of army building. i really like the stinger driver, but im not touching this five, now if they had a bludd and the twins with 2 troopers it would have been worth it. how stupid are the to not realize that adding 3 new figures and 2 repaints would sell, but all 5 characters that have already been out... I'm not a fan of the Cobra Commander and Storm Shadow by any means. But I like the other three, especially since the trooper and air trooper are in comic book colors. I'll probably wind up picking this up if for no other reason than to add to my 25th Cobra forces.

Maybe I can do a head swap with a carded officer to make a comic book Cobra Officer...

Prince Adam

If Storm Shadow was teal like the Ninja Viper, I'd be all over the set. But now, the only one I really like is the Stinger Driver, and somewhat the Jet Pack Trooper. I would like more red symbol Troopers, but I'm not gonna sweat it if I have to get extra Commanders and Storm Shadows.

Sonneilon
08-23-2007, 09:15 AM
It's been noted that Hasbro wants to push the Cobra Trooper mold as far as they can. Gotta make back some of that cash spent on doing all this. I'm not excited for the pack myself, but I'll still get it. These were released at the SanDiegoCon...

I like the Storm Shadow even if it is overkill.

Cobra Commander, bleh.

I'd rather see the Trooper w/ a black mask as a re-release to get him out to the kids and fans as opposed to scalpers.

Jump pack... Uhmmmmmm... Ok.

Stinger Driver. That mean a Stinger is in the works?

Jay
08-23-2007, 09:18 AM
Two five-packs and one series of single-carded figures and they're already scraping the bottom of the barrel for repaint ideas.

Comic book Trooper: Why? And why so soon?

Jet Pack Trooper: Uhm... I can't understand the reasoning behind this. Were the CP gas mask troopers really THAT popular?

Stinger Driver: Useless without a Stinger.

Storm Shadow: The epitome of barrel bottom-scraping.

Cobra Commander: Not all that bad looking, but a third repaint so soon? That's pushing it...

.
Must be, they played a huge role in the comic book (for one panel in one issue out of 155 issues). And I still see them at Toy R Us...(and I still buy them :o ).

The San Diego comic con showed a cobra officer helmet with the Jet Pack trooper, which implied that the gas mask helmet combo is removable, and then you could just make a comic book Cobra Officer. But I'm not sure Hasbro confirmed that.

The Storm Shadow repaint seems really lame because the Cobra on his mask and dragons on his legs are not detailed applications at all. (You can still find VvsV Storm Shadow at a Family Dollar near where I work!)

Really, if they insisted on including the Storm Shadow mold, they should've made it a Ninja Trooper/Viper or a black dragon ninja.

I sort of like the C.C., except the hand portion of the gaunlets being silver is stupid, just like when they made Imperial Procession Cobra Commander's lower arms all black. It looks bad.

But again, the big drawbacks to the set are 2 out of 5 figures are characters, making it a bad value for an army builder pack. $25 to $30 for 3 troopers, maybe four if you can stomach using Storm Shadow as one. Plus, the hip joints again :( . That Stinger driver can't even operate the vintage vehicle or hardly any vehicles. At best he can operate a motorcycle.

And I gotta say, all the Cobra trooper/officer variants and repaints in the past few years...they wait for a new format to give us a Stinger driver?
At least the stinger driver makes SENSE ,yet he will never fit in a stinger  .
Sums it all up, really. One of the critcisms of the 25th line, even from those who liked the new figure construction, was that do we really need version 25 or 30 of certain characters, yet here we go again! Doesn't Hasbro listen to the people who buy their stuff? 3 versions of CC and Storm Shadow already? Hasbro's ignorance, and arrogant assumption that the fans are stupid, will be the death of the line.

Anyone else find it a bit annoying that they're already doing repaints to make figures that don't correspond with anything prior? Namely Jet Pack Trooper and this CC?

I realise this pack wasn't exactly planned far in advance but you'd think that they still wouldn't be so quick to contradict the whole "We've got 25 years of GI Joe history to draw from" line. And why is it that these days it's so important to constantly have "key" characters on the shelves but updating them? Do kids today REALLY want multiples of the same guy? Because GI Joe became a top-selling and long-lasting toy line without doing that; my first CC was the Battle Armor version and I was collecting for a few years before he came out. I got Snake Eyes v2 and didn't get another until 2001 bcause I didn't need one. Some of the more popular characters were still available and had their pics on the cardbacks when the next wave of figures came out but there was never a Snake Eyes, CC, SS AND Duke out at the same time. Masters Of The Universe didn't do too badly either, and that didn't have a new version of He-Man & Skeletor out with EVERY new wave...

Army-building seems like a no-brainer to make more sales without having to pay for new sculpts but no, they put who knows how many off buying multiple sets by making 2/5 of the figures a waste of time to anyone but completists even if you just buy the one set. So few characters available in the line and they're looking to get 3 versions of 2 of them out in stores at the same time...?

As I said before, Hasbro is trying to recoup costs on this 25thA endeavor of theirs. They are following the SW idealogy of doing mass Cobra Troops; same buck model, different variations. That's been stated by the guys at Hasbro at both ToyFair and SDCon.

Now, we all know that none of these figures will fit in vehicles but Hasbro has said that if the singles do well enough, they will do vehicles. And you can probably assume (safely or not) that the Big H will do NEW vehicles in the old style. Hopefully that means we won't get a repainted JvC Brawler w/ a 4-rocket racket on the back.

That reminds me... iirc, the boyz at Hasbro said that the 5-packs would be used for mad repaints and variations whereas they will push the single packs with actual characters. Which is why we'll see Zartan and Shipwreck in singles not 5-packs. And if you REALLY think about it, there ARE 3 army builders in that upcoming 5-pack. I wouldn't mind getting word of what the 2nd Joe 5'r will be.

Really? I was at the Con, and I didn't notice that! If they do it, that'll be very cool. I love the Comic Cobra Colors.

On another note, I'm continually amazed at the levels of negativity towards the 25th products on this board. I read Joecustoms a lot too, and the responses there, though they include some negativity, seem to be overwhelmingly positive for the most part.

I'm not trying to criticize anyone here, because we're obviously all entitled to our own opinions, and I respect that. I'm just observing that we seem to have all the "haters" centered here on this forum somehow.

And fair enough too. I'm not a hater per se. If Hasbro bring out good stuff, I will buy it. The Stinger Driver looks half decent, but it's not worth the price of a 5-pack. I just think it's asking alot for us to spend our hard earned on half-arsed quick fix stuff like this. I understand G's point about Hasbro trying to recoup their outlay by getting as much as possible out of the new dies, but this is not the way to do it. The same old characters over and over gets tired very quickly. Fresh figures get my money, cheap version 30-something repaints don't. Simple! ;)

I wouldn't necessarily say I hate the 25th Ann. stuff, I've just been disappointed (and I loved what I saw when the first pics came out). The size/scale thing is the main detractor for me and I just haven't seen enough to convince me it's worth the expense to get some shipped to the UK -- besides the posing & weak joints issues, with this new set 2 out of 5 figures being of no use to me means I couldn't justify the cost just for the other 3, and they're characters I'd have been interested in army-building (comic-style trooper especially).

With the 25th line, has Hasbro said whether or not they will make vehicles?

Outrider

From what I've read around different sites, it is dependent on how well the figures sell. Good sales equals possible vehicles, poor sales means no chance of new vehicles.

As of this moment, Hasbro is not considering producing vehicles.

However, if/when the movie drops......the necessity of vehicles becomes somewhat of a given.........albeit in whatever form they choose. They might not exactly be what we remember.....but at least they'll be something!!

And remember, since the new line is a slight bigger than the original....the regular Joes will fit in....maybe a bit extra room, but more is better than less!!! ;)

I only have Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow of the 25th variety and I have been able to get Snake Eyes into some regular vehicles.

I have not yet taken pictures of him or Stormy in them, but I was thinking of taking a few to recreate the idea of their joint assault on Cobra Island back in issues 46-47. I pasted some YoJOE links to the vehicles that can accomodate 25th Snake Eyes.

ASP http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/84/asp/
Stellar Stilletto http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/88/stellarstiletto/
IMP http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/88/imp/
Thunderwing http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/04/thunderwingjet/

Most of these favor "full length" poses or "slouching" instead of "sitting" which is the key issue with the 25th. But then again, how many of us could drive a vehicle with our legs locked at the knee and stetched all the way forward (a la old school vehicles and figures)?

Anyway, just rambling and sharing ideas since we don't have vehicles for them....YET!

We know that the boyz at Hasbro has at least thought of it. But I get this funny idea that they are very expensive to produce and more a risk than single figures. 2008 seems to be in the air and IS dependent whether these initial 3 waves sell well. I can only assume they'd make vehicles for the drivers they have been releasing. It'd be retarded NOT to. What's the point of a HISS Driver or Stinger Driver if they don't have something to cruise in?

So, has anyone actually SEEN these figures warming the pegs? I mean, you'd see the OTHER eras sitting there but man, a case goes up and it's gone in a day or two. Shoot, maybe it's the scalpers who'll keep GI Joe alive! lol

I agree about the helmet design. Personally, I LOVE the DTC head. I could careless if the mask and helmet come off. I like the idea of faceless legions. THanks for the link, Big L. I'm too lazy to go TNI myself and wade thru all their crap to find the con info.

Uhmmmm, so which Stalker is going to be in the stores? Or are there going to be 2? I like the green/green combo (the one on the right) over the tan/green version.

I'm not quite clear on what everyone dislikes about this Siegie. I never owned the original, nor did I get the DTC version, so I'm confused. All I have is the removable helmet version from the TRU six packs, and this looks pretty much just like that. The face looks like all the old Siegie's I've ever seen... Is it the way it juts out in profile, or what?

it is going to be the one on the right. the story goes that the paint was a mistake and hasbro had them repainted. so the one on the right will be the one we get. however as weve saw with the 2 packs im thinking well be seeing the glow version in a future comic 2 pack.

also there is talk about a possible dr venom and billy mail away figures. also a figure that has been hinted around is, and ive saw a custom of this somewhere, crystal ball. not many fans will want this on joe dios, but myself ill want one as the one i ordered from ebay was joenapped from my mail box.depending on the reaction of the fans and also when the movie gets nearer there is a possibility of large scale vehicle playsets. one noted was the aircraft carrier, all depending on the movie and fan base however.

The articulation is flawed, but damn if they don't look good. I'm with you on the old sculpt stuff, it is the default style for me, but the sculpting on these new figs makes up for any articulation flaws...it will get ironed out eventually as long as fans support it!

Dr. Venom and Billy, too late really. Why? Because they should've been done in style with the vast 3 3/4" RAH line in the comic line a few years back. Now everything's a restart. And I get the feeling the 25th line will go on hiatus when Hasbro decides to concentrate on the movie line. If the movie gets made.

Nobody at the con bothered to ask the Hasbro peeps why they decided small GI JOE is now a 4.1" line instead of a 3 3/4" line.

This is why I haven't got any 25th figures, and why I'm not excited about previously-unmade characters since they won't work in my existing collection. Plus I find the idea of accurately recreating the original character designs (ie clothes) nice form one point of view, but I can't help feeling I've already got all the figures they've released. I'm sad that we'll not see DDP-style updates any more, keeping classic elements while updating them to amore modern, fresh style.

Basically, to me, short of the Club the 3.75" toy line I've collected has now finished and I don't have the money, space or desire to collect a brand new toy line that's just BASED on what I'm a fan of. I've never bought a 12" Snake Eyes, or an 8" one, and I'm not going to get a 4" one either just because he's wearing the same outfit as the 3.75" one I've already got.

I guess I know how a lot of fans felt when the new stuff started appearing in 2002, but at least Hasbro was mixing in old-sculpt figures and providing new versions of classic characters rather than outright replacement figures of them.

You guys really think Hasbro would do something 'new' for the 25th?

I would say that fans who aren't jiggy with the 25A should wait a year when Hasbro starts doing other things. But the theory is, after 25A, then there'll most likely be movie-based toys. Whether that's a good thing or not, we'll see. There's already been word of how GI Joe will be played out movie-wise and for a lot of fans, it's not good.

I understand that the 25A aren't for everyone. But I love the updated sculpting myself, even if there's no o-ring. How I'll deal with these things for picture-taking and dios, I haven't figured out yet. But they are nice standing around on a shelf. :P

I posted this over in photos under Randy S's Wave 2 finds at Wal-Mart, so I thought I would post it here in the forums as well.

Hey Guys I use to work in the retail world....I use to be an Xbox rep and I was always in the stores....now I have my own company but that's besides the point, although I can go to the stores when I want too, he-he. My wife works for a major cosmetics company and calls on these stores daily and she's on the look out too for my Joes and I still get insider info on store workings.

The following is general tips...I live in Houston TX so the scheduling of deliveries may be different in your area....just ask when your stores usually get trucks in, and for Wal-Mart and Target ask when they usually get toys in....they have trucks a couple of times a week and toys aren't always on there, but at least once a week toys do come on the trucks. Mid to late Morning is generally the best time to go because they either stock overnight or early morning. Wal-Mart is going to a no back-stock system so when they get it in the back it's going out onto the floor. Target is already like this. Little to no back-stock.

Wal-Mart and Target, I believe as well, generates a re-order when an item is sold. When it goes through the register it generates a re-order, now whether they have it in their warehouse is another story(up to Hasbro to get it to them) but that's how it works.

Wal-mart generally gets a truck twice a week that contains toys...Wednesdays are the big day, if you can try in the mid to late morning that is usually your best bet.

For Target usually Saturday is their big stock out day. I was on the toy aisle this past Saturday and picked up the entire Wave 2 as he stocked it on the wall. It was around 10 am, again morning is your best bet.

Toys R us gets a couple of trucks each week but again go in the mid to late morning for your best chances to buy.

I would see collectors, actually ebay junkies who would buy everything on the shelf just to turn around and sell-it....would drive me nuts, especially if I was hunting something down.

Anyway, guys if you want something the online retailers are the best bet...just pre-order and you'll get it. I pre-order mine through Big Bad Toy Store, but after release I go through smalljoes and HTS as well.

Hope the retail tips helps.....sometimes you have to just be lucky.

****EDIT****

I forgot to mention K-mart, well we don't have K-Marts anymore in Houston, but they generally follow the same as Wal-Marts as far as replenishments, stock outs, and received shipment schedule.

msu44
10-04-2007, 08:47 AM
KB Toys...ah forgot about them, LOL....they are a little unique. They receive shipments multiple times a week...what's on the truck is anyones guess even the managers. This is because they receive the majority of their inventory via UPS.

They get it early morning and they stock out around mid to late morning. KB has closed a lot of stores nationwide due to competition to Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, and Target. That's why I didn't really mention them, plus I have always found them to be a dollar to two more expensive than the other stores. Like I said, a good portion of their stuff comes UPS since they are usually located in malls but there are some free standing stores, the may receive large truck shipments. So you can always ask them when the UPS guy usually comes.

Also another good place ot go is Tuesday Mornings...if you have them in your area check them out....they are a re-sale place. Basically they get the over stock or closeout/deleted items from Wal-Mart, Target, etc. That's where I found my Crimson helicopter for 10 bucks apiece a couple of years ago. You never know what they might have or when they have it.

Well, first off Hasbro need to get an ACTUAL supply of figures out! Hard to say what your favorite is when you can't get them anywhere....but, since I'm pretty much through getting figures (I HATE the 25th stuff) I's have to say my favorites that I DO have are;

1.) Pimp Daddy Destro (ok, I know Terrible choice for most, but he REALLY grew on me! LOL!)

2.) Serpentor - finally a 25th figure that has been updated and ISN'T a throwback to the 80's as far as outfit is concerned!!

3.) Snake eyes - I can't believe I'm saying this, but the way the 25th are created, figures like Snake eyes, Beachhead and Firefly benefit from the articulation. Figures like Duke and Flint look out of porportion and the articulation on the flesh parts SUCK!!!

You guys KNOW I'm a nu skulpt fan, even if things somehow change for the worse. I like the 25A figures moreso that I love the idea of how the old outfits look now with nu skool sculpting skillz (or it's the technology of the molds or whatever...). With that said, there are so many that look and feel great (I won't discuss playability). I love the Flint figure. I love the Duke figure. Both Snake Eyes are great!

As it stands, I am finding myself loving the Beach Head figure most. I love the awesome detailing of the vest, the figure is great in itself and the weapon set are off the chart. His machine gun isn't JUST a rehash of that 1985 weapon. It's far cooler. A week ago, it was Firefly. And a few months ago, it would have been Zartan, Flint, Destro or Duke. Or Snake Eyes. Man... Too many choices!

I finally found Wave 2 of the single cards today., and I gotta say-- I love Beachhead too! Also, I think this is the best version of Lady Jaye we've ever seen. I like Destro, I love Storm-Shadow, and I think Roadblock is great except for the head.

However, above all others, my absolute favorite must be... Snake-Eyes version 2! The head sculpt is amazing, and he looks exactly as he did when he appeared in the comics and cartoon lo those many years ago. I'm sure a lot of folks may have said this long ago, but I'll say it here for the first time-- I'm now officially happy if we never receive another Snake-Eyes ever again.

I own 7 figures, but only 3 body molds! (Strange how that happened, but the singles are impossible to find here, and the five packs aren't that much easier. 25th stuff is being scalped ad naseum on Ebay.)

Favorite: Storm Shadow single carded, not happy about the tunic shoulders than limit some poses, but that was given from the photos.

Best looking: Hooded Cobra Commander, even with the stringy legs. Dark blue is Cobra Commander's best color. From mid torso joint up, this figure is great. :p

Most disappointing: Any of the troopers/officers, army builders are where articulation limits and stuff really start to show. Because as an army builder fan, I should be wanting to build armies of these guys, and as they are, I can't see any reason to. Wow! A Cobra vehicle trooper...who can't operate anything except maybe a motorcycle. I don't like they helmets aren't painted on the inside. Or that they are all bald. Or that they are so tall compared to, oh, 25 years worth of other figures.

It's possible he'll have a newsculpt head I guess. But if I didn't know better I'd swear that's a MaurauderInc AK-47. I think it's cool that the CG has the Fred head and I'd assume it's the same as the Cobra Commander from wave 6.

I think you are right on all counts.

Is the single pack CG also going to have a removeable helmet/extra head? I didn't think so. And if I was guessing, in this comic pack, an extra head would be a lot cheaper than tooling a removeable helmet, and give the same effect.

For custom purposes, this allows us to pop the helmet head on the CG (a usable figure) and use the "face" head on another character... And the officer gives you another troop builder...

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe Dunham's in the CG's neighborhood was having a "vintage rifle sale."

But with Stalker picking up an MP-44 out of a museum, I suppose anything can happen! (I like WWII weapons, but more with 1:6 scale correct era guys).

Oh and WWII should not be confused with Wii for those under 21. ;)

When I get my 25th wave 1s I was not pleased as to how they were packaged. I felt the way Hasbro packed them caused excessive joint destruction. I would like to see a Mainframe, Dusty, Leatherneck, Major Bludd and the rest of the original 13 Joes. Even seeing Mangler's scowl would be appreciated. Not everyone loves the 25th. I am kind of so so on purchasing figures I already have and their kind of brittle. Yet my duty as a fan forces me to get them. Yet they give other fans a chance to collect their favorites that might have been hard for them to get. Would also like to see a 25th Falcon and Cobra eel. If they make a 25th Refrigerator Perry; I will definitely need a Prozac increase and more therapy.

Ahh, but you don't have to get another Duke to get Red Star! As soon as I saw him, one word came to mind-- Grunt! Just give him web gear from Snake-Eyes or "G.I. Joe Hawk" and he's ready to go!

P.S.: At the rate they keep unveiling these comic packs, I want to know how quickly they're supposed to be coming out. We just got wave 1 around here a week ago, with no sign of wave 2... And they've already unveiled two more waves!

As I'd hoped, Duke is obviously based on the opening of G.I. Joe: The Movie. I just need a 1:18 scale Stature of Liberty to put him on top of.

Wild Bill looks good, though his head is a bit on the small side.

Spirit looks angry, but is still a nice update of the original, and the removable cartridges for his gun are pretty neat.

Snake-Eyes is not v4, but v3, which I never owned. I love that his knives appear to be removable.

HISS Driver is, just like the original, pretty lame. I might get one just to have, but all my HISSes are driven by Super Sonic Fighter Vipers (my Viper motor corps), so I really have no use for this guy.

The Viper is pretty awesome, though I wonder why he has no goggles. I'm guessing they're a separate piece that just wasn't ready when the pictures were taken. Or maybe Hasbro finally heard all the people asking "What's the point of goggles when you have a full face plate?" and completely did away with them...

...But wasn't Major Bludd supposed to be part of this wave too?!?

That was my first Snake Eyes too and I'm really pleased with how he came out. Hopefully we get Nightcreepers soon. I always liked sparing them off with v3 Snake Eyes. Seeing how well that came out makes me wish they'd waited to do v2. He'd look so much better with the proper legs and the wrist dart.

Anyway, Big Bad has these up for preorder. I took advantage of the Vipers being offered separately. Yeah the cost over twice as much but I got so sick of running around trying to find CGs. I'll shell out the extra $$$ and chock it up as time and gas money.

There's been a lot of talk of taking that Duke figure and turning him into Grunt. Personally, I think the jetpack and the American flag are the selling point, in which, I have neither at this time! As for SE, it's nice they are doing a DIFFERENT SE as opposed to a repaint or whatever. STormy on the other hand is getting some VERY strange love. I mean, there's a SHIRTLESS stormy coming! However, both that Duke (if i bother) and SE will be MOC.

Wild Bill is the best, hands down. I'm impressed.

Spirit. Ok.

HISS Driver. I think he looks great. I never minded the old design or figure. But why's he single packed??? WHy isn't he going to be with the Target HISS to make it an even more awesome exclusive??? Did people buy a bunch of HISSes back in the day w/o a driver???

Viper. Absolutely wonderful. Perfect. Too bad we'll never see these on the shelves and they are TOO expensive to build. I'll stick with my VvV Vipers. But they are great. THIS'LL be MOC cuz what are we going to do with 1 VIPER???

Some details here and there lower the quality fot these figs, but still they are reeeeeally cool. The Viper looks sa bity strange on the helmet, can't explain what is it, but it's a bit like the CG with his helmet.
Snake-Eyes v3 was too my first Snake-Eyes, but still everybody could have done without two of the previous versions, wich could have been replaced by this one from the beggining.

More use of the new tooling by making HISS driver single carded, i.e. higher production run than the Target Hiss. Plus fans are "forced" to buy two seperate items.

There's plenty of driverless vehicles out there (why limit the driver to just Hiss tanks?). I'd be loving the opportunity to buy additional armor crewman...if they were 3 3/4" Heck, I might get them for the DTC Hiss...if they fit and I feel like it.

I don't like the collar much. Not sure why they did it on Flash to begin with.

Crap in a hat. These were sneaked on us a few days ago ala another site. We were HOPING that Hasbro might he doing some sort of cartoon 5-pack cuz Cobra Commander and Baroness example that the best. The only figures of true interest is Major Bludd with Roadblock v2 loosely behind that. But I can see using the v2 more than the v1 simply cuz of the vest. Pretty pathetic wave and at least I'll save money by not buying 2 of each.

Self-Modifier
01-24-2008, 12:56 PM
I'll pick up Flint because the Tiger Force color scheme has always been closer to his cartoon appearance than his original colors.

I'm getting Cobra Commander for that silver stripe on top of his helmet. Yeah, it sounds silly, but that's a big deal to me, and it looks better than the stripe I added to my five-pack CC.

I'll get Baroness to swap her head onto the five-pack version.

I've always liked '86 Roadblock, so I'll likely get him as well.

Of course I plan to get Major Bludd, even if he is just a Zartan repaint with a new arm and head. I actually think this mold looks better for Bludd than for Zartan anyway.

I could care less about anything Python Patrol-related, so I'm definitely passing on that guy.

Snake Eyes - I don't know much about GI Joe comic lore, but he looks good, so I'll probably grab 'im.

Roadblock - He won't be my default, but I can definitely see using him.

PP Cobra Officer - Right now he's a pass, but I guess it depends on how much more TF and PP come out.

Baroness - An EASY pass.

TF Flint - They fixed him! I wish they'd fixed his crotch, though. Here's hopin' for a Flint (proper 1985 toy colors with the Tiger Force arms) / Lady Jaye (hatless) comic pack!

Cobra Commander - I feel like a sucker, but I really want that white stripe :D

Ok, I'm cool w/ the 25A. I'm even cool with repaints, re-releases, new figures, etc. BUT they are gonna FLOOD the market with all this stuff! As people here will quickly say, ANOTHER DUKE? ANOTHER CC? Another (insert whatever you want)??? It's kinda bogus. As Anakin said, "It's overkill, master." And that's what I'm feeling. We just got the latest photos of the waves, the future 5 packs and now these rather neat looking, but WTF 3 packs... I'm gonna wonder what's gonna be shown at Toyfair.

With all that in mind, the 1st officer pack looks pretty neat. I like the variation on the Hawk figure and we get Grunt. Good enough for me. If I get it, maybe I'll send a bro the Duke figure. Too bad Grunt's head is so small (as opposed to Breaker's big noggin. Might need to have repaint that Duke head afterall!)

The Cobra pack... Officers? Looks like Cobra COmmander and 2 CGs to me. Poor Tomax and Xamot. Getting the shaft.

And the last pack... Whoa... That looks pretty cool, but certainly, impossible to build. What are you gonna do with a plethora of Officers and CCs? Now if they did an Officer and 2 Troopers, dewd. Still wouldn't fall for it tho. :p

Red Cobra Commander...a new version of a release from 2005! Wow, let the nostalgia roll.

Hawk and Duke Hybrid figure...they've mutated into one being. "Hey, let's stick Hawk's head on Duke." Alright. What's next, repaining Flint to become Falcon? Probably (would've been more creative than Duke again).

Ugly gold masked CG.

That and they never fixed the crotches on Cobra trooper/officer, Duke or Cobra Commander. Which precludes me from seriously considering the sets.

653569399473 Torpedo-Eels

Just for note, apparently Hasbro said that sub-teams weren't gonna be used. BUT isn't NiteWatch a sub-team? TigerForce Flint has been revealed BUT Hasbro coulda been trained in basic psychology. ie; the whole TIGER FORCE isn't done OR TIGER FORCE is NOT in a 5-pack or whatever. ALL fans need to be aware of semantics and the wording of questions. Surely, the Hasbro guys listen carefully and answer in a ways that piss off, but they ARE answering what has been asked.

I did see a photo of Torpedo in a Toy magazine at Barnes & Noble this week. But it was a thumbnail size pic of artwork rather than glimpse of the fig.

So we are getting Hardball and Mangler before Recondo... Hmm.

Okay, I'm predjudice on that one. ;)

Anyway, I would be happy to see Dr. Venom. I thought of making customs with a White labcoat Mindbender, but I never picked one up. And it would be nice to be able to pick up Scar-Face in a separate pack that won't be immediately ripped off the shelves by every troop builder in the state. The removeable head CG/ Scar-Face comic pack his piqed my interest the most. Although a battle damaged Snake-Eyes would be interesting, at least to see...

Wow, I'm off topic a bit. Thanks for spreading rumors!

As someone mentioned on the JBL, notice that there are NO CORE members in these supposed waves. Therefore, the guys who have been in the game for awhile suspect that these waves are totally bogus. But then, maybe this is just a list of characters to come and haven't been assigned to specific waves. *shrug* OR the CORE will be seeing other avenues of release, like the Officer 3Packs.

Some people doubt Dr. Venom and Mangler, but Hard Master is rumoured and they believed that.

Really, rumour source snobbery thing going on. Last year some one listed what amounted to waves 1 and 2 of the 25th single packs and got shot down because "there's no way they'd make Buzzer and Serpentor before Duke and Cobra Commander." That was before we knew the first 10 figures were in five packs.

Also, Hardball seems odd, but since Hasbro's been reusing parts galore, Hardball would be maybe a new head and maybe new arms. I find it much stranger they've made 1987 Cobra Commander, all new molds, as well as making 1988 Destro so soon. And they made a new head for Red Ninja before making new heads and releasing recognizable 1982 Joes.

Not matter what, any rumor list is just that.

I'm pretty excited about these lists. Given they may not be more than that. I thought Scarface was coming with the CG in the 3rd comic pack wave though. Anyway, I hope they single pack those Eels rather than sell via two pack. And I'm with Joe, where the hell is Recondo!!!

I'm disappointed by what has been on offer on the 25th.

Since I've been a customer of Hasbro for 24 years I would like to see them make SNAKE armor like that used in the first GI Joe Transformers crossover series comic by Image now Devil's Due. I would like to see a Stinger with more firepower, an Awe striker and no Cobra La anything. Would like to see a Stun vehicle that splits in half like the comic version by devil's due. How bout a CH47 Chinook helicopter with some variations to make it GI JOe in woodland camoflauge. The grip on the 25th figures I would like to see improved so they can hold a variety of weapons. Need to have Mainframe with goggles, SCi Fi with green but instead of silver put black where the silver parts of his uniform are. Also must have a Bazooka and Mutt figure with Kevlar helmet and not that black one he has. Must make the complete original October Guard with Daina looking like she did in Yearbook2 by Marvel. A BTR-70 Russian troop carrier like the one in the Yearbook would rule. Footloose and Dusty plus Mercer would be good too.Or how bout a V-22 Osprey tilt rotor troop carrier. What do you guys think?

well Chap Mei has an Osprey and it's HUGE! it's perfect for transporting vehicles and troops, only one problem -- it's rare in the U.S.

I hope Hasbro re-releases the cobra ferrets and stingers. I'm glad the RAM is coming soon with updated paint apps.

I thought I read something here or at Hisstank.com or on another forum about 25A Gung-Ho's legs being updated and better than the original 5 pack releases with "floppy-leg syndrome."

I have seen some single cards popping up at retail, and I wonder if anyone can confirm or deny any improvements.

Thanks. The ability to reasonably sit down and poseability was what I was checking. Those early pictures posted with his leg dangling off the stretcher and Doc indicating there was nothing he could do is what I'm trying to avoid.

From the vehicles new or old, i just like the HISS, VAMP, but the RAM received a welcome improvement and so does the VAMP. The HISS, he is the same IMO.

So if I could, I would buy a new VAMP, the colors are better, the little new details made an improvement. The RAM looks better with the new gatling and colors too.

I think they all look really good......except Serpentor's Chariot.....

The new 'duller' coloring on the vehicles is very reflective of the modern military scheme, so that plays very well.

Additionally, the 'added touches' on them really makes them POP....and I love the cooler lines coming out of the Trubble Bubble.....

Serpentor's chariot, to me, just looks really like a plastic-y toy....I prefer the original......

I was in a TRU the other day and I saw they had some of the new comic Two packs. I heard how everyone was going ga-ga over the comic two pack Fred/Crimson guard that came with the scarface trooper. I looked at the package and noticed the Crimsons guard had a Neo Viper commander head on him.

"How Cheesy" I thought. I could have sworn they had a head and a helmet. So I looked at the bottom of the package and ...nothing. Then my wife noticed that in the bubble packaging there were two holes where there should have been a helmet and backpack. She reach down to the bottom of the display where there was a complete one and showed me. It didn't astound me that someone would steal his head and helmet, but to put on a head from a Neo Viper Commander? WTF? Now, here's TRU trying to sell this as a complete set, and because some dillweed went and swapped heads, it will probably get sold to some poor unsuspecting kid.

I'm thinking maybe someone bought this, took it home and did that to use the head/helmet on their 25th single pack CG and brought the doctored one back. But why not just pop the 25th CG head on? Doesn't it fit in the bubble pack? Has anyone else seen anything this strange?

GoCards
03-30-2008, 10:03 AM
Yeah, I've seen that done to Star Wars figures lately. People swapping older figures in newer packages. Like you said, some poor kid will buy it thinking they got a variation. It sucks and it's just plain wrong.

This is nothing new, when the 2004 VOTC Stormtroopers came out, there were tons of them returned with the POTF Stormtrooper in there. I was at the DOLLAR Store & found several single pack figures with holes poked through the back & all the accessories removed, on $1 figures! I am suprised you all aren't finding all kinds of VvV figures in 25th packaging. Maybe with the cost of gas it is just cheaper now to buy the figure & not make a 2nd trip to scam the next guy.

I do too, but unfortunately, distribution is spotty at best and non-existant for the most part. Hell, we're up to wave what? And I have yet to see some of the figures at all and most of the ones I do see are 1-2 of the same in every store. Nuthin but Peg Warmers from San Diego to Victorville! Gotta love Hasbro!

As for Vehicles, I have yet to see ANY in the stores and they're already "Out of Stock" on HTS. I read a thread on JBL about how TRU is trying to purposely NOT cater to collectors....All I can say is....Job well done, guys! You, Taget and Walmart have effectively destroyed my love of collecting!

Guess it's back to paying top dollar for ARAH Molds from Master Collector!

And what the heck is this?;

http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?BR=520&ST=SO&ID=21694&PG=1

$19.99 a piece for a figure, a DVD and a PIECE of a toy? So If I want the WHOLE Mass Device or the Whole Weather Dominator, I have to pay $100.00 and end up with 5 DVD's I don't want and 4 Action figures I wouldn't pay a dime for! Errrrggg!!
