Y'know... Just by looking at the photos section, it seems like the same people posting over and over. NOT that is a bad thing, but it's making me question just how many board members there are. What fun is it if it's just the same 4-5 guys? Maybe we need to start recruiting more people to share their ideas and pictures! Surely, there have to be a ton out there!

Id like to start, but I need a digital camera first, and something to shoot, which means adding more to my collection (which is still pretty small).

might take a while though...

I didn't realize this forum was so slow when I signed up.

I guess I'm just used to relatively high-traffic sites. While I am getting my own site's regulars into Joes, it's just not the same. ;)

Hi guys, just posted some pics for the 1st time today.I hope to do a dio soon so I got out some loose figs just for some test shots.I'm no photographer thats for sure , and it sure was exhausting getting flat on my stomach takin the pics. It's a lot harder than I thought capturing the image you want.I have even more appretiation for all you dio makers out there.

Good to have you on board, Joefreak. We need more people throwing down pics for us to look at!

As for picture taking, I end up with a tarp or several towels to lay down on cuz I got tired of looking like the backyard when I was done.

so what kind of pictures do they have to be?

I have some sketches of a Flagg im building, could I post those in the photos section? I also have shots of the Tower part of the Flagg that I built out of cardboard for reference purposes as well, could those be put up in the photos?

There not dio quality or anything

Sonneilon

Well, the way I figure it is most people are taking pics that are telling a story. But the line is kinda blurry cuz some people post their collections as well as stuff they are working on. But for the most part, stuff in the PHOTOS area are for 1-shots. Portraits (which GI Jock does well), should-be-award-winning pieces (Helljester & Luke Ellison), review photos (Leo T Dragon) and practice pics... There are always the pics that make us drop our jaws and go, "why bother?" (lol)

Post what you have. If it's stuff you are working on, you could post it in the forums here and as "how-to" or "behind-the-scenes". And it's my opinion that the area for Dioramas are for stories. Usually, the dio makers are hosting them elsewhere. It's kind of misleading cuz you think the dioramas are actually here, but it's more like a hub or ring.

Anyway, post whatever you feel like.

There's really no reason why this forum can't be better. But I think in a big way this site has become a place where people come to look but hardly ever comment.

I know from Counters that I get about 1000 veiws (on my site) each time I update my dio but with the entire online community I probably get maybe 40 - 50 comment feedbacks in total. That's a lot of people that read my stuff and con't think twice about moving on t the next thing. A lot of people read this stuff and just move on. I don't think people that have never created this kind of Joe art understand what goes into it.

Also, we need manaegment on this site. We need someone to push this site in the faces of all the others. We should have our own awards like the Joe Customs Awards. This should be the only place that a Dio-story or Joe Photographer/Diorama builder should have to go for maximum exposer and it needs to be advertised in that way.

Just how I feel guys. I've support this site since day 1 and I beleive it could be great, nothing would make me happier.

well I have to say that up to a month or two ago, I was one of the guys that your talking about; I did more looking at the dios and pics than I responded to them.

Heck, I didnt even know about boards and forums until recently, so it was like that didnt even come to my mind to congratulate you guys on the work you did.

I just clicked on one of the links to Joe forums on one of the Joe sites and I got hooked almost instantly.

Now that im responding as well as looking, I can understand what your saying, and can thank you for the work that you do.

But I got no easy answers for you, except to say that the majority of people who look at the dios are casual fans, and some find them through accident (like I did, aabout a year ago). These guys get hooked to dios, and hopefully, with time, they find their way to the boards and the forums, like I did. Anyways, thats my story, I dont know if its the same for the other 1000 people who hit your dios.

This was the first site I came to when I started into dios and customs... if it were a little higher-traffic, I'd definitely spend more time here. It's kind of a catch-22; a lot of people would post more if there were more people posting. ;)

Thank you Violentfix. I don't really push that hard for people to come by, but I have this site's banner in my sig on JBL and JoeSightings, the only 2 sites I tend to visit. I've been keeping a fairly close look on the comments and who is posting and I'm seeing some names that don't come up often. And that's nice. I'm pushing for the guy who are used to doing just photos to do dios. I understand that people are busy and whatnot but I'd like to see the place grow.

Not too long ago, I didn't know about this place either. But I posted some stuff on JBL, Hammerfel asked me to do the same here and well, I found this is a decent place to post pics. I sometimes think that dios are a hard sell for people. I've asked a few people why they aren't into them more and they're like, "It's not official. It's not canon."

Well poo on that!

heheh, I just cant help it, Sonneilon, every time I see your avatar, I can't help but think that whoever is writing your posts has a slightly whiney brittish accent, :D

and I can imagine your last quote, "well poo on that!" being said by Gaius, HAHAHA. Damn you Baltar for selling out the human Race!!!!!

Ahem... joking aside, I like the idea of voting for the photos, but dont you think that would discourage the newcomers to post their pics, out of fear that their not good enough?

Heres an idea, at the end of your dios, why dont you post a link to a dio discussion board? the Link can say "click here to see comments and post comments about this dio here:", and it will lead to your board, maybe you'd get some people writing then, I dont know.

Sonneilon
04-04-2006, 11:09 AM
Well, you've seen me over on the JBL too. Different avatar. ;)

I'm fine with the forum being so slow, but I just want to see more people post pics and stuff. I admit, I dont' comment on every pic nor do I vote. There IS a voting option. 5 blocks; from excellent to poor. As much of a punk that knowitalljoe was, he did bring up decent criticisms at times, it was just that his lack of tact (and then his offensive nature, 2nd round) got him banned. There is nothing wrong with pointing out that the weirdness of NiteVipers running around in broad daylight with their nitevision on or Quick Kick running around shirtless in the arctic. But to push your Joeverse onto someone else and say it's not appropriate to post, that's bull.

The best photos posted are the ones that can tell a story in 1 shot. Or it gets our imaginations going. Sure, we all do test shots and what not, but taking a pic for pics sake and not caring if it's in focus or even caring about your work, I'm not a big fan of that. I dont' expect everyone to have works that look like Helljesters, Luke or Fred (T. Dragon's) but it's nice to see a tiny bit of effort in there. That's just me.

And believe me Cheznit, I remember talking to one person who thought their stuff wasn't up to par. I told them to post. And they did and shoot, it was better than the half the stuff I was doing. lol.

This is a really great topic to be talking about and I really think this is one of the best kept secrets on the net for cool G.I. Joe stuff. I think this is a real laid back and chill place to kick it. Everyone is cool and helpful and this place brings people from all over the world to talk about cool G.I. Joe stuff so no matter what you look like blah, blah, blah cool G.I. Joe stuff brings us together. I was thinking what would be a cool idea would be say there was a contest and it could be to take a picture of a specific Joe fig and we can vote on which one is the best. It would just be a friendly competition. Now the Joe could be doing what ever in the pic. This is just an idea so feel free to suggest any ideas.

TheCheznit8

I think thats an excellent idea.

I dont know if I should say the name of the site (bleep it out if I can't) but JoeCustoms.com does this group project where members have to make a custom figure, vehicle or diorama based on a theme that everyone votes for, then they showcase everyone's work.

So picking out a theme or a figure to photograph is an excellent idea to get people to do an engaging activity, and Id definitely be up for that :)

Well, I continue to lurk somewhat, but don't come here often because there aren't usually many posts. Today when I came over there were 56! That's good!

I think this site/board has the potential to be a "go to" place for dio's, too, and there are a lot of things here being offered. I think group projects are a fine idea...whatever people can do to get a more "community" jive.

I was thinking a little more about the picture idea about a specific Joe. Everyone might not have a Duke or Snake Eyes but if there was a wider scope say for example take a picture of any Cobra Viper, Ninja, Joe Vehicle etc... to keep it simple and to have as many people post what they have. Again just an idea to think about.

BRASS KNUCKLE CHUCKLES
04-05-2006, 08:09 PM
Heres another idea I came up with. Say for example somebody could take a few pics and begin a story. Then someone else takes some more pics to continue the story. There really doesn't need to be any words added to the pic if you don't want to. It would be interesting to have some Joes start out in the back yard and end up at the beach or whatever and just see what people come up with. It would be loose and nothing really serious. It could be a fun thing to try.

I think it was Tone Guns who once suggested a 'THEME' series. That could be fun. But I go with anything you guys want. Course, if you guys say, "Let's do a Surefire, Mirage, Ice Cream Soldier & Big Ben" theme, I won't be entering. lol

I use to do just that, but what would happen is people would go here and do one of two things, not be able to figure out how to join and begin posting (Which goes back to what some people say about not knowing this stuff even exists) and the other group would post but no one else would respond and so it became a mute point.

Things have gotten better here since then. But when you think about the amount of times you see sites hitting the headlines at places like Joe Battlelines, this site is hardly ever mentioned. Maybe a push for Joe battlelines to add some of these updates to their news column?
Anyways, thats my story, I dont know if its the same for the other 1000 people who hit your dios.
I understand exactly what you're saying. I had a conversation with a friend recently, (a joe fan as well) and I was probably a little drunk and I just spouted it out, "Why don't you ever comment on any of my Dio's, I'd like to know what you think?" He was like "I thought you knew I love your Dios"?????

I don't think a lot of people understand how much it means. I'd also argue a point someone made here about people not giving this art credit because there are so many Joe Fans out there that love this stuff. If this site was THE place for Joe Dioramas, I'm sure there would be a huge increase.

A lot of people comment to me through e-mail. I could start directing those e-mails here. Telling people to stop by Joe Dios and check it out. I have no qualms about everyone sharing exposure. I'm just worried they'll fall into the "I don't understand forums and what they're about crowd" but I'm sure we could pick up some people.

Let's see... I was going to suggest we use the Name Game idea from joecustoms, but I'm not sure how much they'd like us ganking it. Which is too bad, because I really love that idea. Wish it had won. :(

Anyway, should we all throw in ideas, or grab something they've already used? I doubt anyone would get their panties in a bunch over that. I'd be interested in doing the side switch thing, i.e. a figure as they would be on Joe instead of Cobra or the other way around.

As for original ideas... it's too early in the morning to be original. :D

You don't need a huge collection, just come trought the photo section and give a good look. Some shots that have just one Joe/Cobra can be better then a thousand of non sense figs standing around doing nothing.

I'm very pround of my H&R pic = http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/showimage.php?i=1279&c=7 Just give yourself a chance. All our qualities as G.I. Joe photomakers get improved after a shot.

About theme groups we just need a theme to shoot our pics. Let me try something, ok?

I thought I posted here before, but I could be gravely mistaken. Most GI Joe communities are too wishy-washy for me, but this is one place I had my eye on since its advent. I always thought to myself that this would be a hallmark site for the GI Joe fanbase and, in particular, the dio-story community. I wanted to kickstart things myself, but I'm severely lacking in resources required for such a task.

I'm 23. From Wisconsin. Moving soon, perhaps. I've been a big fan of Violentfix, that Tim fella that has a few dio's, Luke Ellison's photos are the pinnacle (looking forward to your dio-future), General Hawk, Sonneilon (I'm big into RTK/DW myself, Sun Ce especially), Hammerfel, many others. I feel extremely remiss for any omissions.

I hope you all will read my dio-stories someday. I have no terrain, real or artificial, in which to shoot any dio-stories. I have two inadequate digital cameras. I have no photoshopping programs. But, one day, I swear. I swear!

I have about a thousand questions and comments I'd like to ask the lot of you, but I'll take one step at a time. Thanks for having me as a part of your community. Bless you all who are able to share your appreciation for such a fine niche art with the rest of us. Such a grand part of this life!

How'd I miss this forum? Anyway, I post at yojoe.com under a different name (Bravo) (most other forums bore me, too much spamming and cliques). Actually, I was gonna use that name, but it said it was taken here, and I never remember registering here. So I thought of an old user name I used at a Masters of the Universe forum years ago. Lava Boss sound silly. But oh, well.

It's nice there's a site for plain ol' diorama pictures. Long ago (by internet standards) there was the Bivouac, but it changed hands became all about customs. And I used up all my yojoe.com photos space very quickly, too.

Y'know, I've asked around why more people don't take pics of their Joes or do dios. The general consensus was that it's not canon or official GI Joe. Just as fanfics dont' cater to e'eryone for the same reason. Which I think is a bummer. I would've thought that doing dios would be the ultimate medium for GI Joe collecting, y'know? Moreso than writing stories because it's visual. It's just a different medium in the end, but when I've posted my dios elsewhere, it's been a hard sell to get people to even look twice. Kinda weird. I would rather much chill at a place where people have a common interest. Sure, the JBL and JS are nice and all, but man, I dunno sometimes.

But everyone has their own interests in GI Joe and picture-taking for some just ain't their thang. But it is fun!

Lava Boss

Funny. I'm much more interested in fan made dioramas and dio-stories than the current official comic book or the Sigma Six cartoon. I have almost no interest in written fan fic, I'm too much of the television generation, I guess. Gotta have pictures. :o Sometimes when I'm bored I'll do an image search on yahoo or google and I've found some obscure diorama/collection pictures. Like this guy's Goblin Cave's collection (http://www.goblincaves.com/jtoys/joe2.htm)

You should see his other toys. Dude has just about everything under the sun.

Another interesting one was this

My World (Star Rome) (http://mitch19870.tripod.com/index.html)

Reminds me of what my brother and I used to do, integrate all these action figures into one strange world.

Sonneilon

My problem with fanfic is that people get really technical. If you get 10 people on a JOe team, the writer has a tendency to tell us (the reader) what f'n weapon they are, the history of the weapon, what it looks like... I mean, it drives me bonkers sometimes. I tried writing my own, made it a few chapters and then lost energy. I would rather play and pose my Joes and make stories (you gotta figuer, when we played with them as kids, we had stories in our heads, even if they were incredibly lame and/or simplistic).

I guess I'm more interested in people's universes and how they do stuff than seeing the written word in black and white.

I've always enjoyed doing dios and taking pics of Joes, and I've always enjoyed looking at other people's pics. Taking Joe pics has been a hobby for a lot of years. It always makes me laugh when I recall how, when pre digital camera I would take my films to the one hour photo place, and get weird looks from the staff when they would pull out the pics to check if it was the right film. I felt like asking, "What, you never seen little plastic men fight a war in someone's back yard before?" :)

I guess it's just one of the things us Joe people have to put up with...all our neighbors think we're kooky! :D

I enjoy having a big back yard XD
Allthough my parents think I'm weird/sad... and I get funny looks/comments/insults at school when I'm reading Dio stories. I've never really had need to defend myself, and if I did... I'd end up standing tall and proudly saying "I am making comics with G.I. Joe figures!"... and then the people will ask "what's G.I. Joe? Oh it's the suped-up Action man!" (like they do at work, heh).

If I did venture into the outdoors, I don't think "I am doing a catalogue" would work for me, as I'm only a young-un :(

Sonneilon, you're the only other guy besides myself I've seen use Sun Ce as an avatar (I hung out at JBL/JS for awhile). Anything you post is far from hogging any area. If you think you're hogging the area, then hog away!

My questions read more like a grocery list. Websites? Cameras? Settings? Photoshopping? I have a few rough story arcs bottled up in my head, but no medium or resources in which to distribute it. Plus no places to shoot, unless I wanted to make it fully digital. I'd be afraid of how that'd look though, especially when these other dio-stories feature settings and locations that add that extra impact to any given scene. Some of you fellas do a great job with your sets -- keep up the good work!

I've never had any of these problems maybe it's because I've been shooting in remote out of the way locations away from the public.

Just for the record, I'm 31. I only know that because my wife reminds me of my b-day and Kody occasionally says, "mom's 33, and your 31..."

Sun Ce is my fave DW character. I have yet to pick up the expansion that recently came out; Empires2 or whatever. I tend to favor Wu for some reason. *shrug*

Anyway, ask away. make that grocery list if you want.

Websites. I don't have my own website. Sure, I have a wonderful geocities site, but man, you look at my pics 3x in a row, you've just exceeded the f'n bandwidth. So I post my dios over on JoeDebriefed. They had a bug earlier and I pulled ALL my dios off. I'm too lazy to put them back up too. It's a fanfiction site but the key is to plug the dio other places. Btw, I post on JoeSightings and JoeBattlelines.

Camera. I currently use a Kodak "easyshare" Z730 5.0 megapixel. It works for what I need it for. Sure, I'd love a Canon or Nikon but this is what I got for X-mas and it does just fine. I'm still learning how to use it. Keep in mind, as Dave says, "Macro is the dioist's best friend."

Settings. Depends on what I'm doing. Usually I just leave it on Auto, turn off the flash and have the MACRO on. *shrug*

CGI Programs. I don't have Fireworks or Photoshop like most people. I rely on a really old Photostudio (Canon, came w/ the scanner over 6 yrs ago) and MS's PictureIt 7.0 which came with the computer. Both have their strengths and extreme weaknesses. lol. We all do what we can with what we have.

As for no places to shoot, seriously, a lot of us just go outside. Some go the park, the forest nearby, wherever. But for my dio, 90% of is indoors so I've been building my own sets. I tend to use wood for a lot of it simply because we have a plethera of 2x4s laying around. Plus we got rid of some shelves in the house so that allowed me to build the Lobby for Transformation. But I took Luke's advice and started using foamboard (and a lot of it at that). I'll do a 'making-of' in the future when "Transformation" is all finished.

oh hey SD, I just remembered... Phu up until a few days ago, only had a webcam. So he actually shot a lot of his pictures either in his bathroom or on a table NEAR the computer. Seriously. He shot with a webcam and the grittiness made his pics actually look REALLY cool. The limitations we have only ask us to be more creative in how we do our stuff. My buddy in Japan told me that parts of Terminator were done with a cigarette, styrofoam and a plastic cup. :D

I'm trying to finish a Huang Zhong musou. I want to get his 4th weapon first, but beating Xiahou Yuan with a time requirement while Xiahou Yuan is super charged to get Huang Zhong's 4th weapon is a bit of a tall task. Huang Zhong is almost maxxed out, maybe I can try then.

Just finished Zhen Ji and Lu Xun's musou. Looking for new Wei and Wu recruits!

Sorry gang. DW is something of a must with me. I'm actually going to be playing RTK IX tonight. As much as I love DW, there's no toppin' RTK ;)

Am I the oldest one? I'll be 35 in August. I was too old for this when they first come out in the 1980's. I didn't care then. But my boys are 5 and 2, so I have an excuse to have toys around.

The 5 year old is remarkably careful with them. The 2 year old...well, he's 2. Most of the time he pushes my spare APC around with a troop or two. But occasionally he brings me one and says, "Broke, broke." I can fix most injuries, but not broken hip joints... oh well!

Hey Guys/Gals
Ok I'm new here obviously. So About me I've been into Joe since it came out, I was 5 at the time, I'll be 29 shortly. My first GI Joe stuff was christmas stuff from my Uncle Bud (rip) I got Hawk with the Mobile Missle System, and a SNAKE armour, this was followed a few months later by my birthday gifts from him, Ace and the Skystriker, and Wild Bill and the Dragonfly, and CopperHead and the Water Moccassin. Thus began something that still has not ended :D
The first figure I bought with my own money (saved allowance etc) was Mainframe, I originally went for LJ but couldn't find one, so I thought Mainfraimes file card was cool so I got him, he was followed soon by Hawk, but I think I made 35 cents a week if i did my chores, (my family didn't have alot of money) so saving for stuff was a long process. I stayed collecting throughout the 80's and made some sweet trades in 6th grade that like trippled my collection ( I traded what few transformers I had for Joes) (and i never regretted it!!) In 88 I found out there was a comic book and started getting that and filling in the ones I had never know about. I stopped collecting the figs around the first ninja force, and I lost interest and couldn't even find the comic after the early 130's so about the time I went off to college my GI Joe collection and life remained dormant up in my parents attic.
Then somehow/somewhere i heard that they were bringing the comic back out !! Thanx Devils Due !! And it all just spiraled downhill from there !! I've got the Cartoons, alot of the Comics though i still have some large holes in what i am missing. The Find you Fate books (still missing 2) the Novels (still missing 2) and am working on collecting the Action Force comics. I pic up fifgures I don't have and am not a completest, I' d decided a cutoff year for what i would pic up as well as trading/selling off the majority of the vehicles from my childhood in order to focus on what i wanted. I got into reading Fan-Fic and have some poems and a story over at joedebriefed.com you can look me up by author I'm PoetFlint there as well, on I think all other boards I am PoetFlint except YOJoe where i am ranger_jer
I got into customizing about 2 years ago and liked it but is time consuming I basically use the winter months to do my customs, (which i did alot this last winter) I have yet to get pics and put them up, but when i do they will be on JoeCustoms.com I haven't built any dio-stories yet, and might not for some time, but i sure do enjoy reading them and seeing what people think up.

Yo new folks!

The guys here thought it'd be fun to do a few projects. Take a look at the Theme Week stuff. Each week, those who want to participate take pictures of stuff that pertains to a particular theme. We started with Cobra Commander and done a few things. The most recent have been "comic scenes" and "comic covers". NOT that you can't do them on your own and post them on your own time, we just thought it would be a fun thing to do. A common goal for the week. Anyone can join in, suggest stuff. It's looking like 'cartoon scenes' will be theme in about 2 weeks. I always post the next week's theme on Thursdays, give a week to work on stuff and then post pics on Sat/Sun.

There's also the Target Range. You sign up for a specific day (it's Joe or Cobra) and choose which figure you want to post. The Target Range is the community's chance to rant and/or rave about a character and his/her figure. Sometimes they get picked on. Other times, the figure is loved! Either way, they are a target. Anyone can sign up so please do.

Just thought I should clue people in on the extra-curricular activities here. :D

Hello,
It's been a while since I posted but I'm always lurking. I hate to burst any bubbles but I turn 37 in July. You youngins might not remember them old days before the swivel arm battle grip and the Mobat was all that. I can remember the time when the figures were the only GI Joe items Hasbro released and Kenner arguably forced the Star Wars envelope with figures and vehicles that might or might not been in the movies just to stay even with the coolness that was GI Joe.
I've gotten to the point that between this forum and the Adventure Team site of Sean Huxter (12" figure dio site) I hardly go anywhere else. I've also got that pesky wife/family thing too so internet time comes less often.
As far as favorites:
Breaker - because he was the first one I ever got. These were the straight arm ones.
Rock & Roll - second one
Blizzard - A little more GQ look than the rest
Mercer - (both versions) Kinda the anti-hero
Battle Armor Cobra Commander - really don't know why
Firefly - just pure mean
Baroness - because she was hot

These are the ones I immediatley think of. There are so many others but hey you guys know what I'm talking about.

Great to see I wasn't the only one who started collecting young and never really stopped. Welcome aboard, Bayer. I've actually seen more than one person interested in SA 1982 figures for nostalgia reasons.

And don't worry about your age, there are more than one of us in the 34 and older demographic. ;) Again, welcome and we hope you enjoy the photos, dioramas and eveything else here.

Back in '82, Flash was my fave figure. When the Swivel Arm came out, I just HAD to get him again, y'know? My old Straight ARms, by then, were in pretty bad shape. Unfortunately, other faves emerged since they were a touch more 'exotic' than that 1st series. But it was a mad dash to try and get the revamped figures that had the new articulation.

I know one thing tho. When GI Joe came out with all their cool articulation, it made me wonder just what on earth Star Wars was doing. Why didn't those figures have knees and elbow and proper shoulder joints??? And why were their detailing so poor???

Yeah, I know what you mean. The Star Wars people (was Kenner/now Hasbro) really didn't catch the train until 2003 when the latest figures started to show more articulation. The clone troopers now have some of the best articulation of any Star Wars figure in the line's history. Too bad it only took them 20 something years to see what the GI Joe line had from day one. Oh well.

Hello everyone, I'm another semi lurker as I've been with this sight for a couple of months but haven't really said a whole lot. I'm the crazy guy who's trying to convince people to try wargaming with Gi Joes but it doesn't appear to be catching on like the wild fire I hoped for :( must be the 40 page manual that explains the game. I'm 21 too, been a fan since I was like 8 or 9 I can't really remember, I like some of the things thats been happening lately the new comic books are okay, I like all the Declassified stuff thats been coming out from DDP its cool to get to know our characters better. I'm a writer/anthropologist/wargamer/scifi geek/gijoe fan and well I'm sure there's some other stuff that I can't think of at the moment. I like what everyone's been doing on this site, I can't wait to get back to my collection and start taking my own pictures to show off my collection. I probably have one thing that none of you have which holds my GI JOEs but you'll have to see what it is when I post the picture, eventually. Oh and I live in BC, Canada and my name's Tao.

Hey there, I just found this thread. I've been posting here for less than a week, alot of you have commented on my photos and THANK YOU for all your input. I'm Shane, I'm 25 from Nova Scotia Canada. I said in the real names thread that I've been "down since day one" to quote John Cena. I'm a big Cobra fan, eventually I want to get the Arashikage clan tattoo, hehe. My favorite Cobra is Storm Shadow (even though he's broken of the brainwashing....for now...) and my favorite Joe is Shipwreck. Quite frankly, I hate Snake Eyes. I plan on doing a dio story when I get the free time. I work for a local dept store running the stockroom, it;s not glamorus but I get to yell at people which is always a bonus. My other hobbies include RPGs such as D&D, Video Games, Poker, Pool, Hockey, Comic books and music. If anyone is bored my MSN addy is in my profile, feel free to add me. Thanks again everyone.

"Me, Too..!" I've been coming here for a few months. I Actually had the nerve to post a few pics. I need a new Camera, but I can't afford one buying all the Joes and whatnot! LOL!

I got into collecting in 1982, bought the first GI Joe comic and traded Star Wars for GIJoe! I kept up with the complete collection until 1989. I was always interested in the Military, and in 1987, joined the US Army and became a Combat Engineer (Larry Hama!?!). I blew stuff up for 3 years and got out in 1990. I was recalled for Desert Storm in 1991, but never got deployed. Just went to Fort Leonardwood, trained and by then the war was over! Went to College when I got back, met my wife, graduated college, had a kid, (was more into Martial Arts in college than Joes) got out of college and tried to get back in the Army. When that didn't happen, I joined the USMC and have been in since 1995. I'm doing tactical data networking (former Army, now a computer Marine.....old....MAINFRAME, is that you??). In 2002, I met a guy at my last unit who collected GI Joes and I saw they had new figures out, so I got back into it. My collection went from 550 in 2002 to over 1,800. (i need a second Garage!) I'm in the seniors bracket, too I'm 38.....anyone older?? And if you think it's hard to do Dio stories in public, imagine doing it on a MArine Corps Base! Not Fun! LOL!

I don't offend easily and I have a bizarre sense of humor. I can take it, but I prefer to dish it out! LOL! Ask Outrider, I'll never quit ragging him for torching that bat! LOL!

The biggest problem with being Military is knowing too much about how the military works and getting too technical and not just enjoying the stories! (You should hear me yell when I watch Black Hawk Down!!)

Anybody got any questions about the Marine Corps, let me know!

Glad to be Aboard! Semper Fi!

Hi I'm new here too. For the record, I just turned 32 in May. I had some ideas for doing Joe fanfiction, but it was hard to get motivated to type a story. Then I came across Operation Rapier by Violent Fix, and saw a new way to tell my stories. It's a lot more fun :D I've posted on JBL and Devil's Due.net. I posted links to my first 2 stories on the site.

As you can probably guess from my avatar, my favorite Joe is Falcon, the first Joe figure I got.

Hello. I have been a fan of JoeDios since it's inception. I have just recently begun to take digital photos of my collection. I intend to ramp that up a bit. My name is Wes, I am 27 years old, and I live in Colorado Springs. I began collecting Joes in 1987 and have kept it up more or less since then depending on availability and my career.
I enjoy lifting, running, watching football, military dios with 54mm Civil War soldiers, and of course Joes. If I could play a role in a Joeverse, I would definitely be a Crimson Guard. I like the idea of having the red suit in my closet while amassing power and position within society.
I think this is a great Joe site, and I am going to try to make some submissions for the themes.

My name is Fisher, I am 30 and reside in southwest Virginia, and have been an avid collector of Joes since 1982. I lost my entire collection in the mid-90's do to a break-in (along with other collectibles as well, but the Joes hurt the worst) and recently began collecting again as of 2003. I have amassed the entire 1982 line once again, most of 83 and 84, have a large amount of everything post 2002, and now I am focusing on reacquiring the 85 and 86 years.

A friend of mine, who is also a fellow collector, introduced me to Justin "General Hawk" Bell's dios earlier this year, and I began reading avidly, and searched for more and more. I decided after reading the General's dios, ViolentFix's, Tim Elf's, Luke Ellision's, and various others that I have ran across (sorry if I didn't name yours by name) that I wish to begin shooting my own dio stories. I found this board recently and have been looking through all the photos and dios, and I am really enjoying what I have found.

As for my own dio stories, I am currently writing a trilogy of sorts, and I intend to begin shooting this fall. I would shoot sooner, but my girlfriend, her son and myself need a larger place to live, as this one is too small and my Joes have been in storage for 3 months. Seeing as how our lease is up the end of September, once we get settled into our new place in October I will begin shooting, and hopefully finish before winter snows arrive. That is my current goal anyway.

So there you have a little intel about me, the community here seems really tight from what I have read. Before the dios arrive, I shall be submitting a few photographs of my own to get a feel of angles and receive any constructive feedback you gentlemen could offer. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to more interaction with the community from here on out.

Hi everyone, I'm Mike and I'm from Wausau, Wisconsin. Well, I had a decent collection of GI Joes back in the 80's, but my mom sold my whole collection for $5 at a garage sale when I was in the Army.

Over the past year I have been slowly buying the ones I had, and the ones I wanted. I am more partial to Cobra, but I have a soft spot for a select few of the Joes.

I am working on getting up to speed with the "Expert" Dio builders here. I am working on a story and some drawings as we speak so hopefully I will have something out by the end of the year...if all goes right.

I also have a blog:

He's a Classic TV Toys reproduction of an old 70s MEGO figure. If you look on eBay in the MEGO section, they usually sell all 4 loose figures for around $20.

Their website is:

What's kinda cool is that the MEGO figures are close in size to the Sigma 6 guys ... I plan on mixing them together.

Hi everyone, I love this place! I'm amazed by the wealth of great joe photos here. I've known about it pretty much since it first began but have only now begun to post pictures.

If I can ever get around to making a complete joe dio-story, I promsie to alert you all to it first of all!

I do have some of each ... I was a Dark Shadows fan as a youth, so I got the Barnabas and Quentin, I love Bond, so I got the Goldfinger Bond and I have dozens of Joes, BBI. Power Team and what not in 1/6th scale. I suppose I love 1/6th scale because it was what I grew up with.

I know there's probably a thread wandering around out there like this one, but I'm too darn Lazy to search for it. Besides, there are probably about 4 pages worth of posts by "fly-by-night" members who dropped in once or twice and left, and with the influx of new members, lets reintroduce ourselves!

I'm Frank. I'm old (39as of 22 Jan) I have a wife and two kids. I'm a Marine (active Duty). I'm originally from Western New York, but I now live at the edge of the Mojave Desert. I Like Martial Arts computers (I do networking for the Corps!)and GI Joes (like, duh!!). I have a TON of money invested in my collection (over 1,800 figures and over 700 vehicles/playsets...plus 3 HUGE military bridges! ) but I don't do it for the money or the bragging rights, I do it because I LOVE my Joes like I love my kids. (but if it came down to my kids or the joes, get ready for a windfall guys!)They're my pals from my childhood and I've had some of them since I was 14.

I'm too old to play with my toys and not get picked up by the guys in white labcoats, so this website gives me an alternative outlet. ("Uh, ...I'm not playing....I'm creating artistic works.....what are you gonna do with that straight jacket and butterfly net?? Guys? Guys???Noooo...noooooooooo!!!" ) :p

I've been fortunate. I've gotten lots of deals buying stuff, and when I get extra stuff, I don't mind giving it away to people who feel as I do and LOVE their toys! I wish I could find a job selling Joes or Joe like gear (ala Marauder John) but I would never scalp people like some of those vultures on EBay.

If you don't wanna post your real name or where you live, cool.

Ok, nowI went first so....who are you???

03-03-2007, 02:55 AM
As most of you know, I am Fisher. I joined the site last fall, but I don't get to post as much as I would like. I am 30 years old, I have been collecting Joes since I was 6 back in 82. I work for Motorola and I am the evening supervisor for our Virginia call center. My girlfriend Misty and I are expecting a baby due between April 30th and May 5th, so most of my time recently has been devoted to helping her with anything and everything I can. We just moved into a larger place, thankfully, so after a weekend of unpacking, I should be able to spend a little more time out in the yard taking some pics.

Aside from Joes, other interests of mine include reading, whether it be in comic form or novel, if it's in print I will read it. I also enjoy writing, mainly short stories, but I also have a couple of dios planned (soon as spring hits I am going to start shooting, if all goes well). I am a huge movie junkie, my dvd collection now requires another dvd shelf, as I have over 300 titles at last count. I also collect edged weapons, axes, daggers, knives, swords, but a lot of those are put in storage now with the baby on the way. I also have a samll comic collection (nowhere near what I used to have) and collect Transformers as well, mainly Alternators and Classics.

I love to travel, when I was younger I travelled as much as possible. I have lived in 11 different states over the years as a result. For some reason though, I always ended back up in Virginia.

I am addicted to ink, I have 10 tattoos and crave more. I have designs for my next 5 planned out.

I also keep an iguana, to me, greatest pet ever.

Just a few things that I can think of in my insomnia filled early morning hours...

cool thread, let me jump on. ive been collecting joes since a friend of mine brought his to school when i was 5. somewhere or another all but like 3 of my joes got lost as i grew older, i started buying a few when they came out with the 2 packs around 2000. my collection is still very small because i dont buy every figure that comes out. i now see from you guys that i should have:( ender, send those extras this way, lol. i went through the he-man and star wars faze as a kid, but G.I. Joe has stuck with me.
i live in kentucky where i had a great childhood. i was 28 as of jan 15th and im still a kid. other then joes i love comics, although i dont collect anymore, x-men and anything from jim lee were my biggest collectors. along with the comics i also draw and write a lot. i mainly draw comics, smurfs or joes. i like to write everything from my own proverbs, poems, haikus, stories or songs. i have been into martial arts all my life but only been training in kung-fu for 8 years. ive also taken some karate and im proficient in grappling. i am a amateur MMA fighter with a record of 7 and 1 and hopefully will soon turn pro. I'm Skot, 25, and I live in NE Ohio in a little town called Geneva. It's about an hour east of Cleveland. I work in Mentor as a Purchasing Agent for a machine and tool company. Oooh, I drive a Honda Element and I love my big, orange toaster!!! :) I'm engaged to the most wonderful woman in the universe! My Konstantine, Bonnie Jean. :) I had such a crush on her all throughout high school and I never got the guts up to ask her out. 6 years later, I came across her on my friend's MySpace page of all places and it started there! Now, almost 2 years later, we have a house together and we're planning on starting a family. She's very supportive of my hobby and loves that I take such an interest in something that I'm so passionate about. I'm into Joes, obviously, but I also love movies and certain tv shows. Fave movies = Fight Club, The Usual Suspects, Boondock Saints, LotR trilogy, Star Wars movies, Batman Begins, Spiderman 2, X2, The Departed. Fave tv shows = 24, Prison Break, Heroes, House, Bones, The Office, Scrubs, Shark. I also LOVE comics and I collected them HARDCORE for about 12 years. Now, I just pick up graphic novels and trade paperbacks. "Y: The Last Man" and "Fables" are now among my faves! I also love outdoor things, like camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming, cornhole!!, biking, playing catch.

I've been an avid GIJoe collector since I was 5-6. Roadblock v2, Falcon and the Road Toad were my first Joe items. As a kid, I had a huge collection, but unfortunately, they all disappeared as I got older. I never stopped collecting, though. GIJoe, TFs, TMNT, MOTU, Marvel toys, Legends. When GIJoe came back with JvC in 2002, I started all over again and bought everything I saw. I never got the chance to army build as a kid, but I got really into it in the past few years. I built up quite a Cobra army! Ebay was a good friend to me!! I bought many toys I wanted as a kid! I started to explore the web and I found different websites involving Joes. General's Joes REALLY got me back into the hobby hardcore (thanks Justin!!). I sought out different dio sites and became addicted to checking them every day! I even began work on my own 3.75" diostory called "The Thirteen Agenda" and those of you that read it gave me some pretty positive feedback, so I shall continue it this spring.

When I heard about Sigma 6, I was skeptical, but I had an open mind and had collected many various lines over the years. The pics that first surfaced piqued my interest, and months later when I saw Spirit on the shelves, I picked him up and have been hooked ever since. Army building isn't nearly as easy seeing as how there's only 2 figures that can be army built (without customizing or inventing any new characters or factions, i.e. using Shouri Crossbow Storm Shadow as a Nitecreeper, etc.). Plus, at $10 a figure...it gets pricey. I don't mind paying $10-$15 a figure, because they're just packed with lots of awesome and useful gear and weaponry (for the most part). I own all but a couple (which I'll probably never get due to the figures lacking any kind of redeeming qualities in my eyes) and I am nearing the finishing stages of putting out the first episode of my ongoing dio-universe entitled AVALANCHE. I know a lot of the posters that frequent JoeDios are not into S6, but for me, it's just a refreshing and awesome new look at my favorite toyline of all time.

That's it!

Hi!

My name is Luís Galileu Gall Tonelli, but you can call me Tone, or TG, like most of my pals here. And I really like the TG think :D. I'm 26, (makin' 27 in April 23) and I live in Brazil, but in the very south, that we call the backyard from Brazil. I'm trying to adopt a child that already live with me and my wife, I'm a high school teacher (physics).

I always was a G.I. Joe fan, but just after June '05 I could start buying them due to get some extra money and I heard about eBay. Nowdays my hobby isn't just G.I. Joe, but I'm trying to get more 3 3/4 toys. Elite Force, CORPS, Star Wars, Chap Mei, etc. I'm working hard on my SW collection, but I'm focused on the Clone Wars time line.

Next year I'll start to work on my Master degree and in some other real life projects, like a photoshop class and probably an english class too. As you could see I've some problems in english :p.

I love to play soccer and I'm really good at it. I love to watch some cartoons. I can't sleep before 1 AM, but when in vacation just after 5 AM. I love the noght time, is when my brains are in full motion.

My name is Eric, but most of my friends (including my woman) call me Phu. It's a nick that's been around since middle school (I'm 25, 26 on April 18). Being called Eric is actually pretty strange at this point, unless I'm talking to my parents! They live in MN and I live in FL. I plan on moving back up north in a couple years; Florida sucks.

I love to program; I'm now running IT for a timeshare phone room. Systems administration was never something I was interested in, but it's not so bad now that I've switched the office over to Linux. I graduated from Iowa State U in '03 with a useless degree in computer science. I also run a bunch of forums and own way too many domains (over a dozen now, I think).

I adore movies, though I can't stand TV (commercials make me want to break things). Lately my girlfriend and I have been watching Star Trek: TNG; we're almost done, and I've started watching Enterprise. Sci fi RULES!

I loved Joes when I was a kid; I got back into them not too long ago when I realized they had been releasing new ones. When I started posing them on my desk and making up humorous little stories with them, I figured someone else had to be doing something similar -- I had no idea how many people were, though! I enjoy building sets; my first was a dojo, the second was a public restroom, and now I'm working (VERY slowly) on an industrial facility that promises to be pretty darn cool.

My main interest at this point is molding and casting custom figures; it's tough, and I have not gotten the results I want yet, but I'm still working on it. I have a couple customs (an alley viper and a Star Trek redshirt) that I'm hoping to produce in reasonable quantity once I acquire an injection molding machine. :)

Okay, for those of you who don't already know, my name is Craig, and I live in Melbourne, which is on the southern coast of Australia. I am in my early forties (yeah, I know, probably the site "elder") and very happily married to the beautiful Deanne, and we've been together twenty years this year. I work as a laboratory technician in the plastics industry (no, I don't make Joes!) and it's a pretty demanding job, as a large part of it involves quality assurance on our high speed production lines, so I'm always on the go. And that's a good thing, because I'm a fitness fanatic, so I enjoy being active. No desk job for me!
My first Joes were the old Adventure Team 12" flock haired figures (a hairstyle I now happily endorse :) ), and every Christmas and birthday that rolled around would add to my collection. My friends and I would stage great adventures in our back yards after school, but there weren't that many battles, as Cobra was non-existent in those days! I got into 3 3/4" Joes when they first came out here in '87. I bought one for the memories, and got hooked from there to a collection today similar in size to Frank's.
Outside of Joes, I have a large collection of relics from the US Civil war, which is another of my passions, and has led me to a couple of trips to the States in the past, with hopefully more to come. I also have a huge collection of Nascar 1/64 diecast, and love watching the Chevy teams dominate the competition (especially Hendrick Motor Sports, go Jeff, go Jimmie!) My wife and I also used to be avid trading card collectors (mainly Marvel/DC stuff), and have around 18,000 cards, including some real rarities. Don't even get me started on my wife's Beanie Baby collection, they eat up valuable Joe storage space!
Well, that's about it guys; happily married, busy job, keeping fit, and Joes. Nice and simple, just how I like it. :)

I love watching sci-fi movies and tv shows, my favorite tv shows are: prison break, lost, heroes, the dresden files, eureka, kyle xy, and doctor who. I have too many favorite movies, ranging from comedy, horror and drama etc..etc..ect.. so enough about me what are some of you noobs like/interested in?

My turn now I see :)

As some of you already know, my name's Wojciech [no ease - try to pronounce it right by yourselves ;)], had my 21st birthday on the 6th of February (so, one of the youngest here...) and I live in Poland, in Cracow (or Kraków of you want polish spelling :) ). Yeah, second oldest city in my country, fortunately NOT a capital, great place for anything - from studying to making films. We've been celebrating the 750th annivarsary of our city's location this year, so you know why it's so climatic place to live :)

I'm now on the second year at International School of Journalism at Jagiellonian University (jeeez... that's typical - "International" is only on the english plates, on polish it just Journalism Institute... guess it's to make a better impression ;)).

I'm collecting Jos since I was 4 years old and got my TF Tripwire, which is with me 'till this day. Well, as other Joes I got as a child. To me - they are part of my life, the best toy ever (and I had a lot of them. It'a real shame that LEGO introduced Vikings and Exo-Force series recently, because I was soooo dreaming of such playsets in my childhood... that's why LEGO is my no 2 toy).
My collection is now approx. 130 figures and about 30 vechicles - yep, not a big one, but nowadays the only way to get new things is ebay, and shipping to PL is quite a lot...
I love making my diostories - it relaxes me and I still develop my photo skills and imagination.

Beside Joes I'm a modeller - mostly 1/72nd scale and recently I switched onto the 1/72nd figure painting and such. I also like fantasy, horror and all GOOD literature (currently going through the S.King's "Dark Tower" like a hot knife through butter) and I like to play on peoples' nerves by listening to Metal. Genre depends on my mood :)
Yes, with such interests it's rather hard to be with anyone :) But at least I know a few girls, who have the "he's a little crazy, but as long as not dangerous - it's okay" attitude :)

Ok, who's next?

Fisher

I'll carry on with the international replies...

My name's Andrew, I turned 27 a couple of months ago and I'm from just outside the city of Bath in South-West England. After tomorrow I'll be unemployed once again (temp job ending) and I'm hoping that I'll be able to find something in the editorial side of publishing (magazines) instead of another "because I need the money" job that involves 'phoning people all day.

I got a BA degree in American Studies because the course included a year at SUNY New Paltz and since I graduated in 2003 I've managed to do 2 Manhattan-based internships as well as visit friends a few times. I really, REALLY want to get back to the US to live but getting residency & work permits is incredibly difficult. I'm smart (picked out & tested with a 147 IQ when I was 8...) and highly adaptable, so if any of you guys know of ANY businesses that'd employ a foreigner like me please let me know...!

I got into GI Joe back in 1986 when it was still called Action Force in the UK. Palitoy stopped producing them and Hasbro did it themselves, with packaging in the same style as the US Joes and a marketing blitz of commercials, cartoon videos, comics... They appealed to me, then when I was given Zartan v1 I was hooked -- a highly-detailed, well-articulated action figure with accessories including a disguise, a personal vehicle and a colour-change feature that didn't involve water -- how could any 6-year-old boy not find that the coolest action figure ever? My love of the line never waned (I still have that Zartan...) and when it came back in '02 my collecting exploded.

Besides Joes I'm a HUGE comics fan, mainly Marvel Universe but I'd love to have the time & money to read everything. My Marvel Legends collection is the only other toy line I'm really dedicated to. I also like SF/Fantasy TV & movies, particularly Star Wars AND Star Trek, and am trying to read more books than just Terry Pratchett and Star Wars novels... I'm a fan of animation, mainly 80s-90s action-adventure stuff and comedy from Animaniacs to Family Guy -- another dream of mine is to do voice acting. I own quite a lot of Warhammer 40,000 miniatures but I've not had anyone to game with for about 8-9 years.

I love to travel when I can afford to, and there's a bunch of things I'm trying to develop with varying levels of commitment including writing, juggling, playing the bass guitar I bought 5 years ago, cooking, personal fitness and general self-motivation!

Wow... it's comforting to see that not all Europeans look down on the US. ;)

It's also wild that the average age here seems to be in the mid-20's! I'm used to sites full of 14-year-olds... no wonder the atmosphere seems so much more friendly here. :D

I'm with Fisher on the Dark Tower series; I am a huge King fan, and once you've read the Dark Tower books, a great many things in his other novels will make more sense.

All right, I'm a little late, but here I am.

My name is Matt, and I live in sunny California. I work at Wells Fargo bank, currently as a Lead Teller.

I've never been as into G.I. Joe as a lot of people on this site. I only owned a handful of Joes when I was young, because I was more interested in He-Man and the Transformers, then later the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I really got into Joes when I was "too old" to play with toys. A friend of my younger brother gave him Tracker for his birthday, and then my brother decided to pick up a few more. That same night he got the red-masked Cobra Commander and Snake-Eyes v4 at the drug store, and on my next trip to the comic shop I picked up G.I. Joe #120 for him. I read it first, though, and really liked it. So my brother and I both started buying Joes, and we chanced into a windfall when a friend of mine was told by his parents to unload his collection. We paid him $100.00 and wound up with nearly every figure from 1986-1989, and many vehicles including the Conquest, HAVOC, Night Raven... and a Terrordrome! To this day I feel a little guilty about buying all that stuff for so little, knowing now what they're worth. But I'm still friends with the guy, so I guess he doesn't mind.

Anyway, like I said, Joes weren't (and still aren't) my first love. I like them a lot, but I only buy what interests me. I also collect Marvel Legends and (surprise, surprise) Transformers-- Though mainly just Alternators and the new Classics, plus the occasional Armada/Energon/Cybertron figure that catches my eye. I also collected the Masters of the Universe revival from a few years ago until Mattel's own blundering killed it. Above all that, though, is my first love, Marvel Comics. I buy and read several titles a month. I do collect a few things from other companies, but it's mostly all Marvel. However, a lot of what they've been producing lately seems sub-standard when compared with the stuff I grew up on, so my monthly reading list has been dwindling as I've been picking up their trades of older material to enjoy. I just finished Champions Classics vols. 1 and 2, am currently reading Fantastic Four Visionaries: John Byrne vol. 7, and have Excalibur Classics vol. 3 lined up next.

I used to read a lot of novels, mainly based on licensed properties like Star Wars and Star Trek, but haven't picked one up in a few years. I love Sherlock Holmes, and every so often get the itch to read some of those stories. Also, I'm addicted to television. My current "must watch" shows include 24, Prison Break, Heroes, Lost, Battlestar Galactica, all of NBC's Thursday night comedies, Family Guy, and American Dad. My favorite TV show of all time is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which is the only Trek series I bought in its entirety on DVD. I also love animation, and since there haven't been any outstanding American animated shows for a while (with the exception of Justice League), I've dabbled in some anime. Some of it I love, but some of it seems pretty bad.

Other than that, I just like to hang out with friends and have fun. We go to a lot of movies, even though the prices of admission have gotten insanely high. Oh, and I almost forgot, I'm a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan.

I only came across this site when I had made my G.I. Joe background music files, and needed a place to post them. Hammerfel came to my rescue on the JoeCustoms board by offering to host them here, and I readily agreed. It's kind of cool to have been a "founding member" as it were, and see everyone who passes through post their pictures.

Hey everyone, only a few know my true identity as Tao. I've been a huge joe fan since I was around 6, I'm 21 now my birthday's really soon too on the 15th of March. I'm sure I'm the only one here who wargames with their joes and my dios are all shot on my wargame table. I live on the West Coast of Canada on Vancouver Island which is nice place and really I should be outside taking pictures, but I never have. I guess I don't want to have to explain myself to people who might ask what I'm up to.

I'm into all the joe comics as I'm a supporter of the cause and some aren't as good as others. I've only got 300 joes maybe 40 or so vehicles and I have a collection of Corps guys. Though few joes are actually sold in stores here, I usually have to purchase them online, and customs is a pain. I've started customizing joes recently too, though they're mostly repaints, I think I only have a few that have swapped parts.

I enjoy scifi the most, sounds like we have a lot of BSG fans, but I also enjoy Stargate and Stargate Atlantis, Jericho, Eureka, Heroes, Total Recall 2070, The 4400, Firefly, and there's a whole slew more that I can't remember right now. I'm probably moving to the States soon to get my Masters in Anthropology and I hope to do studies in Militarization along with looking at the writing style that permeates within the field. At the same time I'm trying to be a writer, but I'm a C+ to B writer at best, but I'm getting better... slowly.

I love this website though and a great deal of the people here are really awesome and have been producing some really great stuff.

My name is Rusty. I am 38 and a counselor at a children's youth program. I'm an ex Eagle Scout and former USMC ROTC candidate. I've been collecting for 20 years and am a fan. My mom has the final stages of Alzheimer's and cancer. I look to GI Joe to escape from reality for a little bit. I'm single and looking for the right girl. I thought I had her; but she unfortunately married someone else. I've always been invoved in military hobbies from doing 1 35 scale models to reading various books on military operations and equipment. I live in Watertown, N.Y. and will move once my Mom passes. I've had some health problems but they don't stop me. I firmly believe if something doesn't kill you it makes you stronger. Joe Dios is the first web site I check before I check the news. I wish I could post pictures but I'm still saving for a camera. I enjoy everyone's pictures and comments. It adds a sparkle to the day. Hope I haven't made you throw up. Rusty

OK, Here goes.
My name is David Jones. I'm 24 and happily married to a beautiful woman who supports my Joe hobby. I live in Southern Utah and have for most of my life (except for a couple of years I spent in bluestalkers counry :) ). I am currently going to school at Southern Utah University and am majoring in Information Systems with an emphasis in Network Administration. I have loved G.I. Joe ever since I can remember. I would always sleep over at my friend Micals house and would take my APC full of joes over. Then the teenage years set in and I got into football, basketball, and track, and didn't pay much attention to the Joes when they started doing the Star Brigade line. About a year befor I got married, during Christmas, I was bitten by the Joe bug when my Mom bought me a V1 Stormshadow with a full cardback and I was hooked. Now I am making up for lost time. I now have all of the "legal" Joe episodes on DVD, but the only real collecting that I am trying to do (figure wise) is collect all the of the 80's joes up through 1991 (no straight arms). I am also trying to collect the comic books since I have never read the Marvel series. So there you go.

I'm Joe. I'm 35, and I live in Green Bay, WI with my wonderful wife and two sons, 6 and 3. I work at a college on staff, and I also teach one class each semester. I began running and working out, as the college has wonderful equipment/facilities for that. That keeps me busy and out of trouble for the most part.

Joes are my only vice, and I have tried my best to limit my spending. It is difficult when there are sales at various websites (or even when stores clearanced stuff off). "I'm buying these for my sons," I say at the checkout. (Yeah, right!!) Well, they do enjoy my hobby as well, and I have duplicate figures from various ill-advised eBay lot purchases that they enjoy. My older son just turns 6 this week, and has been begging to get into the Sigma 6 world. Of all people, my wife hooked him up with Paratrooper Duke. Who knew? She is slowly warming to my hobby, but nowhere near the point of holding planes and helicopters for aerial shots. There are some lucky fellas out there!!

Like Craig, there is a large amount of storage dedicated to her Beanie Babies as well, but she traded up that hobby for scrapbooking. By comparison, her monthly expenditures on scrapbooking dwarf my more selective Joe purchases... I don't mind spending money on hobbies. Each of ours brings joy in its own way. And that is a very good thing.

Like Craig, nice and simple. And I love my family!

Not sure whether I'm entitled to post considering how little I do here :) . I'm Dzirhan, I work freelance as both a journalist and consultant in the defence field, with a lot of my work being with Janes, the british defence publishing group. Work has been pretty busy over the last 2 years hence my lack of participation online :( though I buy a fair bit of joes and 3 3/4 related lines that work with joes. I live in Malaysia in South East Asia and am 36 this year making me on the old side, been involved with joes since 1985. Outside of joes, my interest lies in military history (actually taught the subject at a military college here), pc games (strategy and RTS) along with doing a little cooking. Toylines I collect are all 3 3/4 particularly Chap Mei which is readily available here and has some nice vehicles along with Japanese gaschapon stuff and minature furniture and other stuff that works with joes, I'm hoping that I can clear my work off and take April as a vacation so I can work on some dios and participate more online

Hello all, my name is Don, my friends call me DRey
I'm 29, I live in the SF Bay Area & I have been a joe-a-holic
since I was 7 but I have stopped collecting Joes late last year.

I used to go by the userID: donsbabyboo ~ I swiped my wifes,
now ex-wifes eBayID to buy & sell Joes & just used the ID over
here & over at the Yojoe boards as well where I am a board moderator.
I have since changed my ID to this one that I am using right now.

I hate my current job, but i have gotten a part-time job dabbling in
Real Estate ~ mostly focusing on Commercial/Business properties.

I love the 49ers thru good times AND bad & there have been
a LOT of those the passed few years

The only reason I live & breathe is my 3yr old daughter whom I share
custody of every other week.

Other than that, I live alone and I LOVE IT :D

My name is Wes and I live in Colorado Springs. I just finished a ten year active duty army career, and am enjoying a couple months of paid vacation before my next job (which I am still looking for). I am 27 and have been into GI Joe since 1987. I am most interested in large scale battlefield dios; most of which I do in my basement. Right now I have a 54mm Civil War (second favorite hobby)battle going on, but it is ending and I will be back to GI Joe soon. This is my favorite site, props to all of you guys who post these great pictures!

My name is Ryan; I'm 22 years old and live in Austin TX, where I'm in my final semesters of studying Civil Engineering. I'm getting married to my wonderful fiancee Katherine (who is supportive of my hobby, even though she doesn't really understand it) in a little less than two months, and looking forward to graduating this coming December. When I'm not collecting Joes, I really enjoy reading, camping, and generally being outside. I run, bike, and swim quite a bit to try and keep fit, and also spend a lot of time just hanging out with my fiancee.

I grew up in Houston, where I fell in love with G.I. Joe as soon as a I got my first figure (either Recoil or Dogfight, can't remember). I really got into G.I. Joe in 89-90, so I still have a soft spot for all of those figures. Once I got "too old" to play with them any more I immediately decided to start collecting, so I'd have a reason to hang on to my prized Joes. I've drifted in and out of the hobby since then, and have had interests in most every scale and era of at some point. When I entered college in 2003 I was sort of on a hiatus from collecting, but that all changed about 2 years ago. Believe it or not, it was the Greenshirts 6-pack that awakened me to the fact that new Joes were coming out and convinced me to start collecting again. I finally found my collecting "niche" in vintage and new classic-sculpt 3 3/4" figures (recently expanding to vintage/modern 12" AT as well). I started taking pictures of my figures about a year and a half ago, and before long I found this site and was blown away by some of you all's work. It inspired me to push the quality and creativity of my photos as far as I could, and learning to do so has been such a great way to have fun with my collection.

My tiny apartment here in Austin doesn't have much space for Joes, so most of my collection is in Houston at my parents' house, which I visit pretty frequently. My dad and I enjoy taking photos together; it brings back lots of wonderful memories of childhood battles and the like. I love this hobby and am really excited at what a wonderful community you have on this site. Thank you all for making me feel so welcome!

There's more about me, my other hobbies, and my Joe collection over at my website (http://www.ryankingsbury.com)

Hello, my name is Jay. It's not my real name, but I don't care, my real name sucks.
I'm 22 years old, I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

I've been "collecting" since I was little, I bought various toys as a kid, many of which I still have (but a strong percentage still had to go during many spring cleanings... :( ).. Right now I mainly focus on three things: GIJoes, Transformers, Super Robots and martial arts-related figures (I have a nice little Bruce Lee collection).

Aside from that, I don't really do much. I'm a stockboy at Future Shop (or I will be starting Monday), don't really have many friends and the ones I do have are often too busy to do much more than MSN chats with me.

My MSN Messenger is ** and my AIM is AutobotDJ. Message me anytime!
