Re: 1987 Rumbler (v1 - with RC Crossfire 27 & 49)
Rumbler was first released with the RC Crossfire, the line's first remote controlled vehicle. The Crossfire was available in 2 frequencies (27 & 49), so that 2 kids could play at the same time without getting the remotes crossed, much like the Tyco Turbo Hopper that came in either Red or Black. They also used the Turbo Hopper's underbody to make the Crossfire. In 1993, the Rumbler figure without his helmet and included Recoil's 2 blue guns was offered as a convention exclusive and renamed Footloose.
Over the years I have found several Rumblers and have noticed that he comes with either light or darker hair brown hair and moustache. I have yet to find any documented information on this, do you have any? It is hard to see in the pictures in the bottom right.
I know there are some reports that he comes with either a brown or dark brown helmet, but I have yet to really find proof of that either.
Thanks for looking!

I believe the helmet difference is the likely the difference between a real Rumbler helmet and the accessory pack Crankcase helmet. For most people, they are close enough. But, I've seen some people document the differences to show that they are not the same. I'd wager that Rumber's paint applications are the same. It's possible that some were made in '87 and others in '88 and the differing production times lead to subtle differences. You see that often.
Either way, it's a pretty solid figure.

Interesting figure repaint and vehicle! I didn't know about this until the late '90s.
