Re: 1987 Payload (v1 - Light Brown Hair - Smaller Moustache)
Payload was first released in 1987 as the Pilot with Defiant Space Shuttle Complex, along with Hardtop, it was the first time 2 pilots were included with a GI Joe vehicle. I have inserted pictures in the top right corner of the Payload variations. The one on the left is the one pictured with the lighter brown hair, smaller moustache and eyes close to eyebrows and the one on the right has darker brown hair, a larger moustache and eyes further away from his eyebrows!
If anyone has a backpack with control handles and the white umbilical cord for sale/trade let me know!
Thanks for looking!

Great figure! The head on the left looks a lot like Col. Chris Hadfield.

Was not aware of the variant. (Sucks to have a variant on a figure that's generally rare in his own right.) How does the lighter head compare to the '89 figure?

Good question Mike, so I went and checked. While the 1989 versions moustache and eyes are similar to the 1987 smaller moustache variant, his head has a paler skin tone and more orangey hair color.

I'm wondering if the one closer to the '89 is the '88 shuttle production run. It would tie to the matching of the '89's paint application.
