City Strike Snake eyes...what's the appeal?
Some figures I just NEVER understood the fascination with. Firefly never really impressed me much in the comic, or the action figure, but for some reason, people go Ga-Ga over him. And from the prices I see at BBTS and Smalljoes, it seems like everyone is impressed with City Strike Snake eyes...so question...WHAT IS THE APPEAL? What is so great about this guy? Not knocking him, he looks Ok, but I just think there are other versions of Snake eyes that are as good if not better.....
Discuss....

I tend to go ga ga over Lady GaGa myself. As for this SE, I just won him on ebay for about 1/3 of the price that Small Joes is pimping him at. But anyway...

Ok, ok, I get the whole "Resoulte" thing, but what I meant was, WHY is he so cool? Is that it? It's a "Brand" thing? Like Jordace and Swatch in the 80's? Both were pieces of crap as far as Jeans and watches went, but they were "Designer" and "Brand Name" , like Tommy Hilfiger so everyone had to have them because if you didn't you were "poor" and sucked! So If I remade Iceberg for Example and put "Resolute" on the package, or even made a Spirit figure like the one in Resoulte, it would be going for $34 on Smalljoes and BBTS?
I was kinda hoping someone would say something like, "yeah, he's got the new Waist/Hip articulation" or "He comes with a Superbad-ass gun and detachable Swords". But the only reason people want him is that he was molded after the Character in Resolute? Hmmmm....maybe I should save my cash and buy another 25th Black Commando Version......

My reasoning is different... while yes, he's resolute and that adds to his appeal, its more his look that caught my attention. I feel he's more "hi tech" looking and adds to the different outfits my SE can wear. This SE is in my top 3 favorites, right next to "Black Ops", and the RoC motorcycle version (with the trenchcoat version's head).
I will not pay more than retail for him tho and right now he's in all the stores here, so I paid 5.99 for both of mine.

First, I bought him for $5, second the only reason I did was cause I saw him literally everywhere.
First some knocks to this fig, his scabbard is rubber, very poor of hasbro to do that. Second his smaller gun looks like it was scaled for a mini-mate, third his bulky backpack looks like it belongs on croc mas-er-Night adder.
Anyway he is ok, I do like the did a black and grey thing with him rather than straight one or the other (or ad purple or some rediculous thing) but ultimatly he is pretty much the same old same old. A black/grey commando/ninja done so many times over. He is ok, not terrible, but because its the same as before I much prefer the Paris Pursuit version, he at least has something added, even if its just a trenchcoat.

Actually, Swatch's gimmick was producing a ton of watches in different styles and color schemes which were, for the most part, all the same price. OR they had classes of watches at the $20, $30, $40 mark and beyond.
Let's face it, watches are like cars. Utterly boring with the current color schemes. You don't get 'funky' colored cars these days. An Orange shows up on the Dodge Challenger. Yellow shows up on the Chevy Camaro. BUT you can buy just about ANY car in black, silver, blue and red. Even white is debatable. Green? not the 1st color people choose.
So with Swatch, a person could hook up with all sorts of patterns in various color schemes. AND they were supposed to be water-proof. Came with a neat scratch guard. For that time, it was huge. Now, I have no idea what watches are 'cool'
And consider Oakley did the same thing in the late 80s/early 90s.
