...So I was at Target the other day and found 25A Wave2. Or at least, most of it. There was a duder there checking out the 'action' toys; Star Wars, TF, GI Joe... And we were discussing GI Joe. He's an old time fan and collector. He still has his old figures, like that Cobra La 3 pack (which I had NEVER actually seen). He said that he wasn't going to buy all the 25A figures, but just the most recognizable ones. By no means was he a scalper but he actually said, "I'm just looking for the main characters. Duke, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander..."

I didn't really respond. But I guess there are casual collectors out there who want to see the CORE represented. He actually questioned why Flint was in Wave1 as opposed to Duke. (I told him Duke came in the 5-pack, but he thought Duke should be single packed for the 'kids'.)

Just a lil story for you all.

And have you guys checked out the newz from the JoeCon yet? I'm sure every other Joe website has pics up. I've seen 2 vehicles, Flash, Doc, Snow Job and a few other figures that are to eventually be available. As Craig might say, "it's like being back in the mid80s again."

Yeah, I think a lot of the time, we, as collectors, fail to realize that the vast majority of people out there don't know nearly as much about the G.I. Joe brand as we do. I have a few friends who haven't bought a single Joe since they were kids, but are super-psyched about the 25th figures specifically because they're updated versions of their favorite childhood characters, wearing the same uniforms that they remember, and they're purchasing them for that reason.

Hasbro wanted the 25th to appeal to collectors and "lapsed" fans alike. They seem to have succeeded with the latter. The former is open to debate, as we all well know.

P.S.: Grand Slam looks fantastic!

So does it look like the vehicles are going to be straight rereleases? Hope so, as it means I might actually buy some! I only ever got the one HISS III back in '00 so a few more of those wouldn't be bad. And if they come with HISS Drivers all the better, as I could even put up with 25th Anniversary-scale figures if they're only ever sitting down under a canopy...

And if they do a new Deep Six in his original pressure suit, but with articulation, I couldn't see him looking like the rest of the line's figures still, so I could certainly be tempted by one of those...

The problem now is, will these bigger figures FIT in the old vehicles? I doubt it. I'm considering doing a dio that'll mix the 2002 Joes and the 25A Joes but the height differences are killing me. In a way, I'm having to wait for a few more figures to show up before I think seriously about it.

I didn't check TNI for pics since I don't visit there. So thank Mr. Lehsreh for a few pics hosted by himself.

I love the idea of the Awestriker coming back. I never had one so I'd be cool with that and Crankcase.

As for the 'silent collectors', I've stated many times that if you ask any 30-something adult (late 20s too) who they remember from GI Joe, the Core will be remembered. You'll be lucky if they remember anyone from 1986 and up too. Maybe 1987 and up? And yes, it's THOSE casual collectors who screw things up!!! lol Still, like SelfMod was saying, there are those who were interested in seeing their old beloved characters with new technology. I'm actually one of them. Or at least, I was really interested in what could be done. NOw that we know... Knowing is half the battle?

It's like being back in the mid 80's again, except in an alternate universe where all the joe figures suck!
