The thing is,guys-this is an extra set that the Retailers wanted after the initial favorable response to the 25ths.
I guess I'm the only one here that likes it-more for me!

i hope it sells great, even though i spoke ill of it. if it sells, then that means more money for hasbro, which means more and more joes for us. i am not a collector, as in i dont have to have every figures made, only ones that i like and think i would use. so even if i wont be buying it, i hope many others do.

Anyone else find it a bit annoying that they're already doing repaints to make figures that don't correspond with anything prior? Namely Jet Pack Trooper and this CC?
I realise this pack wasn't exactly planned far in advance but you'd think that they still wouldn't be so quick to contradict the whole "We've got 25 years of GI Joe history to draw from" line. And why is it that these days it's so important to constantly have "key" characters on the shelves but updating them? Do kids today REALLY want multiples of the same guy? Because GI Joe became a top-selling and long-lasting toy line without doing that; my first CC was the Battle Armor version and I was collecting for a few years before he came out. I got Snake Eyes v2 and didn't get another until 2001 bcause I didn't need one. Some of the more popular characters were still available and had their pics on the cardbacks when the next wave of figures came out but there was never a Snake Eyes, CC, SS AND Duke out at the same time. Masters Of The Universe didn't do too badly either, and that didn't have a new version of He-Man & Skeletor out with EVERY new wave...
Army-building seems like a no-brainer to make more sales without having to pay for new sculpts but no, they put who knows how many off buying multiple sets by making 2/5 of the figures a waste of time to anyone but completists even if you just buy the one set. So few characters available in the line and they're looking to get 3 versions of 2 of them out in stores at the same time...?

As I said before, Hasbro is trying to recoup costs on this 25thA endeavor of theirs. They are following the SW idealogy of doing mass Cobra Troops; same buck model, different variations. That's been stated by the guys at Hasbro at both ToyFair and SDCon.
Now, we all know that none of these figures will fit in vehicles but Hasbro has said that if the singles do well enough, they will do vehicles. And you can probably assume (safely or not) that the Big H will do NEW vehicles in the old style. Hopefully that means we won't get a repainted JvC Brawler w/ a 4-rocket racket on the back.
That reminds me... iirc, the boyz at Hasbro said that the 5-packs would be used for mad repaints and variations whereas they will push the single packs with actual characters. Which is why we'll see Zartan and Shipwreck in singles not 5-packs. And if you REALLY think about it, there ARE 3 army builders in that upcoming 5-pack. I wouldn't mind getting word of what the 2nd Joe 5'r will be.

Really? I was at the Con, and I didn't notice that! If they do it, that'll be very cool. I love the Comic Cobra Colors.
On another note, I'm continually amazed at the levels of negativity towards the 25th products on this board. I read Joecustoms a lot too, and the responses there, though they include some negativity, seem to be overwhelmingly positive for the most part.
I'm not trying to criticize anyone here, because we're obviously all entitled to our own opinions, and I respect that. I'm just observing that we seem to have all the "haters" centered here on this forum somehow.

And fair enough too. I'm not a hater per se. If Hasbro bring out good stuff, I will buy it. The Stinger Driver looks half decent, but it's not worth the price of a 5-pack. I just think it's asking alot for us to spend our hard earned on half-arsed quick fix stuff like this. I understand G's point about Hasbro trying to recoup their outlay by getting as much as possible out of the new dies, but this is not the way to do it. The same old characters over and over gets tired very quickly. Fresh figures get my money, cheap version 30-something repaints don't. Simple!

I wouldn't necessarily say I hate the 25th Ann. stuff, I've just been disappointed (and I loved what I saw when the first pics came out). The size/scale thing is the main detractor for me and I just haven't seen enough to convince me it's worth the expense to get some shipped to the UK -- besides the posing & weak joints issues, with this new set 2 out of 5 figures being of no use to me means I couldn't justify the cost just for the other 3, and they're characters I'd have been interested in army-building (comic-style trooper especially).
