I used to watch YEARS ago. But when everything turned to hiphop oriented stuff, I pretty much gave up. I remember Metallica and the Chili Peppers and Marilyn Manson playing. Those were the cool days. I DID enjoy Puff Daddy and Sting's duet from years ago.

Now the movie awards, I'm a bigger fan. I still love that skit where Vince Vauhgn (and 1 other person, Ben Stiller?) were pitching a Titanic 2 sequel to James Cameron. Talking about how the ship flipped over, created an air pocket and a whole civilization of people were able to live there and stuff. That and I remember when they did the Dawson's Creek spoof where Samuel L Jackson sticks his head threw and is like, "Kiss her already!" Or the Sean Scott skit where he plays Agent Smith (when Matrix was big)... "Who farted???" Or when Will Ferrell was the duder with the beard in the Matrix, talking to Neo from Matrix 2. "Mr Sassypants!!!"

Almost spits out his beer. Testament one for album of the year??? That album is decent but like most old metal bands, they draw their songs out. It all sounds the same and just don't go anywhere. Anthrax was notorious for that and you could pick on Metallica's "JUSTICE" album being that way. It was just a sign of the times for metal bands. Testament. Too bad Cradle of Filth or Sothis weren't in the running. Course, Sothis's album just came out last week...

Maybe Metallica will be in the running next year?

Bravo, when it's all done, could you write up a list of ALL the winners in the categories???

I was tempted to ask if you could throw down the runner-ups, but I doubt you'd remember. And screw MTV's website. That POS is so hard to navigate!

I'm with you Graham, I listened to MTV in the days when they played a little of everything, now they barely even play music! They have 1,000 crappy shows and endless hours of rappers with gold plated grills and hands so full of bling they can't make a fist.

They should change the name to R&BMTV, because I think I've heard maybe one or two songs in the last 3 years that weren't Rap or R&B. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch Alicia Keys and Rhianna all day, but I can't deal with nothing BUT R&B.......

VH1 isn't much better! A little more variety, but overall, it panders to the R&B Community!

I really like it. Not the best album ever but it's easily the best I've heard from this year. The only other good releases this year were from Belphegor and Motorhead.

Metallica died in a bus accident back in '86.

MTV music awards, today that is movie television, not music. actually, it should be teens who want 15 mins of fame TV. no music anywhere, just teenagers who will do anything to be on TV. bad thing is, a lot of people still watch this stuff.

I wonder if the contenders for next year's HEAVY METAL will be

Metallica - Death Magnetic
Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone
Sepultura - A.Lex
MachineHead - The Blackening
Sothis - De Oppresso Libre

Then again, it's all based on how many albums were sold thru whatever music counter system some stores have.
