i could really dig one where its just the joes against the insecticons. i watched episode where they first came to the cartoon the other day, i always loved how tough those little suckers were.

Dave, I know that I always have music going when I'm shooting. It often puts me in the mood/mode and gets things moving. ANd when working on the computer afterwards (be it hours, days, weeks or months later), I have so much stuff going into my head (be it music or a violent movie), it totally gets me going and keeps me going.
Transformations... That took a radical change from what I was originally going to do. I don't even remember the original plan. But I bought Doom when it was released and I was floored. I loved every aspect of it. To me, that seemed MORE humanistic than, ahem, Aliens. I mean that in, I didn't see Apone's platoon as GI Joe. But the Rock's RRTS, that screamed GI Joe to me. Change the names around and BAM, there you go! It was right then that I scrapped my plans and decided to make it more eerie and more sci-fi. It was all about a rapid response action squad going into the unknown.
You got the sequence of them going in (just like Aliens/Doom). You get to know the characters. You have a hell of a lot of corridors to deal with. MINE may have not been as black as the sewer sequence from Doom (wish I could do that), but I tried red lighting (ie; Aliens) to see if that would work as well. And when you have genetically engineered monsters coming out of the woodwork but can never quite see them, you never know what will really happen!
The Island was to take that to the outdoors. There was a lil bit of Predator in there you know. And it was VERY heavy on genetic manipulation. I'm a big fan of that, as you can tell. Monsters don't just come from nowhere. They are created by Cobra Commander cuz the guy is a nutter. Always looking for the next best weapon! Uh, I think I'm babbling!
But I'd love to see a good old Joe vs Cobra battle too. In your style, it'd prolly make me cry!

G, I honestly can't wait to see the next one from ya'.
Self-Modifier, likewise.
Hershel, it'd better not take TOO long to see the Hidden Agenda one-shot photos start showin' up
TOD, great stuff! "I'm confused. Which one's the master?"
zedhatch, I'm just now checking out your stuff. I didn't know where it was until Hershel put it up a few days ago.
Now for a bit of an update, and a question: First off, I have Chapter. 1 written, but I don't think I'll start shooting until I'm almost done with the story. I'd like to do something insanely epic, but who knows whether or not my ideas will take me that far.
Thus far, it's a reboot using the 25th Anniversary figures (duh ) The original 13 are still the original 13, with Hawk as a colonel. They'll already be in place, as I'm going to use the dio to introduce other characters (I'll give ya' a hint as to one of 'em: he has a shotgun named Lucy). No worries, though; the Original 13 will definitely be prominent.
It will be mainly military with some sci-fi thrown in.
I'm hoping to make Cobra Commander FAR more evil than he's been portrayed in any media, though I'm not sure that's possible.
Anyway, thus far that's about it for the story.
Now, the question: How do you guys keep your interest going in writing these things?
Have fun!!!

honestly, its hard to keep an interest when you script the whole story as i do part of the time. sometimes its nice to know the direction and some of the words, but take the pictures you know you will need for the scene and then add the words. if you get bored writing the whole thing out, try that. every part of the process gets tedious sometimes, but when your finished its feels great to see it all together and know that your story is apart of the joe world. i also like to think that it will be around somewhere in 20 years so i can look back on it.
as for your dio being epic, i dont know how your can tell a story, but you will have some of the best photos bar none.
oh, had to edit this to add something. one thing i have done with the last 2 chapters that i wish i hadnt was that i have had the pictures for the last 2 chapters done for almost 3 months. this sux because you see new figures coming out that you wanted to use and when they lay around that long, you kind of lose interest. once you get the pictures taken, start with the photoshop or whatever, with the script written, it will go faster anyway.

For me, I just love writing, period. I have so many ideas for stories floating around in my head (not just for Joes and Transformers-- for everything!)... I'll never get them all out. It's finding motivation to photograph all the stuff I think of that's sometimes hard... But the writing just sort of flows out whether I want it to or not!

What keeps ME writing???
Just stuff that pops up in my mind. Sometimes, I mean to go out and do just single shots (for Photos) and a story comes out of it that I decide to run with.
Yesterday, I went out to shoot Part4 of Hunt For Sonneilon but instead of running with that storyline, I found myself doing something very different. It's still Sonneilon kicking butt but I wanted to convey in Part3 that Sonneilon actually had a real Cobra mission. I'll be wrapping up Part4 and it'll go directly into the NEW dio I'm starting to work on.
As for the 1st episode of Archives, I still have to wrap that up. I have a lot of the next part already shot, but there's gonna be a lot of fotoshopping involved which is why I'm procrastinating. Give or take that I still need to finish a set. Trust me, start small. Just do something that are a few shots long. (Short for me is 30-some frames).
I had a couple of short dios that may have been 20 shots or less. Fans here MIGHT remember a lil dio where Scrap Iron captures a RHINO (DTC RHINO) and fires his big gun into the personnel pit! It was gruesome and violent cuz you KNOW all the Greenshirts inside died. I did another that created... Uh... It was a red ninja story because I had all those multi-colored ninja hanging around.
But yeah. I usually have a small idea or just scenes I want to do and then I just try and fill in the gaps. I'm trying to cut down my dios so they aren't so overwhelming but it's hard. Now that I'm not using CBC, 90 shots are a lot longer than 90 shots in the CBC.
