I meant I enjoy both light-hearted and comical stories. I enjoy the creative and/or low budget efforts more. I understand the serious ones take effort, some look great...but they rarely do much that I find engaging. Pretty formulaic, and Devil's Due comic run showcased what a fan take on the official comic would be, which left me sour on dead serious fanfics.

I liked Lehsreh's one with Raptor...it was so out of left field.

I liked Troops of Doom's little mini-arc with the terracota statue "Do you know your GI JOE?"

Some of the ones at Javart's page are good, too. I found GI JOE Puerto Rico's efforts interesting, though those are more serious.

Mr. Arashikage's short ones that re-enact movie scenes are fun, too. He did a Knight Rider team-up, too.

I'm a little selective when I read Dios. I prefer serious stories, but lighthearted can be good too. Troops of Doom is a good example. I love to read Violentfix's work or Wowboy's Dio's. Those are more on the serious side. General Hawks Dio's are also good. Spindoctor's work is a combination of the two. It's serious and lighthearted at the same time. There's probably a lot of other ones I missed, these are off the top of my head.

Man, I love Violentfix and General Hawks dios...

Actually now that I think about it, I love almost every dio story I have read, as some humour (Toxies universe and Troops of Doom) is allways good, but serious is awesome as well. I appreciate the hard work thy have taken to make and thats why I tend to enjoy them as they are. Spindoctors work is cool too as he has kinda "different" take on the Joes...

I've been silent till now.

A long time ago, I had a conversation with ToneGunsRevisted about what it takes for ME to read a person's dio. I am VERY anal and I'll admit it, I'm a dick about things. I used to belong to a lot of boards and websites and learned "Selective Reading". And with that in mind, that's how I view the fotos. Am I biased? Yup. I have a VERY hard time reading ANYTHING with ARAH just as people can't view bastard era or 25A. But hey, we have our likes.

I'm a picky reader. IF the shots don't equate the story, you lost me. A misspelled word, I'm gone. Wrong action in a shot, I'm gone. I'm not perfect either BUT I provide a VERY different aspect to GI Joe. It's what I ALWAYS wanted to see as a kid. The cartoon and comic dealt with some aspect, but I was the kid who was like, "What if GI Joe went up against..." Yeah. That's why I enjoy the horror/sci-fi aspect of things. I DO end up reading everyone's dios. BUT I am MORE willing to read a dio hosted on a site than 1-page hits.

That's just me. Don't take offense. It just takes a lot to pull me in and THIS is coming from a guy who does NOT go to movies. It takes a lot. Fortunately, ppl doing 1-shots is easier!

lol, must be really hard for you to come back and read any of my dios as im always aware that there are misspelled words in them.

im with you in that i always thought what it would be like if gi joe fought so and so. my favorite thought was seeing gi joe and cobra team up against the games master again where the games master used transformers as his army.

im exactly the same on the last part. i read each and every dio, but if its short i sometimes have nothing to say because theres really no story. still there all fun to read and hard to make no matter the size.

Trust me Big L, if I found a way to throw in Werewolves, I would. but with the way I write, it'd be some sort of Cobra experiment gone wrong. "Doomsday Machine", the next dio will have it's horror aspects but it WILL be a more mainstream JOe story. I shot the last sequence of the prologue. I just gotta do some serious work on it.

Default Dio Stories

The fact people put that much effort to make a story should be welcomed here. Not all of them will be liked. That is for each viewer to decide. I like the ingenuity, the plot and execution of them. It gives me ideas for customs. Also it attracts new viewers to the site. Keep em!!

I went through my short Dio a few weeks back and corrected spelling and inserted a missing frame.

What fuels me to want to create more is the reaction I get from fans. My creative energy gets a boost from the replies and emails I get, but especially the forum replies, as everyone else gets to see them, too.

So if you read a dio and like any part of it, please take 30 seconds to write a reply. These dios take HOURS to create. They're worth 30 seconds to reply.
