"And now a breif interlude by the miniature painter..."

If you paint the edges of those after you have put them together (and glued/taped them?) a light grey, then it will look about 10% better.
Just a thought at least, you don't get those white paper edges that sometimes ruins the illusion.

I too am a miniature painter and I've never thought about that at all and I make all sort of cardstock buildings for that hobby . That is a great tip .

thank you

BTW I do clear coat them to make them last a long time, which is something I forgot to mention.

Smart thing to mention! (The clearcoat) - I forgot on some pieces I made and they shriveled up and died after some (ab)use.

I think I read the painting edges of the cardboard/paper thing in white dwarf magazine when I was playing Mordheim, and did so to all of the buildings in the starter set there. (To all of you who know what I'm blabbering on about: 10 geek points!)

I guess I get the ten geek pointsthen and I'll give you ten more if for know what Battletech is.

one other tip about clear coating the cardstock. Tape the bottom of the models down with masking tape or they will blow away once you spay them.

Very true, just a small detail extra, paint right underneath the edge as well - even if its at an awkward angle it will create the illusion of not being paper all around.

Darn... Guess I got my 10 geek points back...

I thought I'd show the desk off in color as I got some color ink. I did the trick haradrel suggested with the marker, but i used a black one ,only because I didn't have grey marker. I think it would look better with a grey marker. I did mess up a bit on the lines, but over all it's ok. Some irony though, I ran out of cardstock paper when I thought I had more so I was only able to build one.

It didn't look to bad with black, but that is possibly because it had a lot of black lines in it!

I think I remember the article about coloring the edged saying "A lighter shade of the original color", this is to give off the impression that the edges are just that, edges where light would catch.
But black actually works too!

Good stuff man
