However, because of the differences of how things look in comics, what color do you think the helicopter is? Graham said it looks like Purple, I said I thought it was supposed to be Gray. Opinions?

Based on my knowledge of comics and the benday printing process my guess it was probably envisioned as being a blue gray of some sort, think gun metal. But that's just my opinion, we'd have to ask Larry Hama to really know.

If you'd asked without showing that scan, I'd have said they were blue.

I'm gonna have to check some other issues when I get home, now... I remember there was one in the issue towards the end that had Dr. Knox's BAT vs. Scarlett and they cropped up every so often before then. There might be other appearances where the colour is more real-world translatable.

On a side-note, when I was in college I dyed my hair, and instead of black I went with "cosmic blue" which was very, very dark blue that looked black except where the light caught it. My reasoning was, that's how black hair is done in comics...

If you compare the colors of the Tele-Viper in the trouble bubble, I would say either a light blue or even a grey-blue is perfect.

I bought one to and am a little torn on the color process also. I am very tempted to paint it black, with a small hint of blue through out.

I will post as soon as I get it done (most likely this weekend).

I always took them to be the color they appeared to be. My color-seeing eye is pretty literal.

Though I don't know why a ruthless terrorist organization would be flying around in lavender choppers...

I couldn't decide on the colors either. The picture below shows the same helo without all the action. I gotta think it's a gun metal gray. I just didn't like it. It seemed to washed out when I applied it. I did however implement that color to the engines. My transport box is black which looks really good.

Make sure you modify the cockpit seats. If you leave them be the guys will slide down and around. There is enough room to throw some seats in there with back pegs to keep them in position.

In the comics they used to depict it in a sort of "greyish blue" althoug sometimes it looked more of a dark dull blue, or a violet-gray blue.

It's a really difficult one to find out But anyway, blue must be the base.

Hmm. Maybe Mamba purple...? And black cargo container like the black Mamba side-pods...?
