Default Comic Box #7

Welcome to The Comic Box. This is a discussion thread for the GI Joe comics. We start at Marvel’s #1 and move thru the series every Wednesday. It’s a chance to give your thoughts, opinions and remarks about the comic in question.

#7. Walls of Death!

Cobra captures both the Oktober Guard and GI Joe but with Cobra, nothing is final. The two teams manage to escape and track down Cobra and the spyplane to a small fortress. They break in, get past the traps and GI Joe gets the plane. Or do they???

Notables. None, really.

Discuss Away

This was the first time I truly understood the meaning of 'The Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend'..........

Took on a whole new meaning for me that carries through to this day.

And My God!! The artwork was freakin' awesome!!!!!!! I really wish that they'd draw like that again.........

Oh yeah, this was just about as good as the early issues got. Plenty of hardcore military characters, and nary a ninja in sight. To ask for more than that would just be plain greedy.

I love this ish, one of my all time faves, this is one of those "We can overcome our differences and live as one" kinda ideas from the 80's and the cold war. Too awesome.

Yet, the Joes took off with the spy plane wreckage (so they thought) and let the Guard fight their own way out at the end!

So....overcoming resonable differences, but at the end of the day the mission still comes first.

They massacre the Iranian border patrol, too. Not great for relations, but this was 1982-83.
