Buying a macro lens
So I am in the market for a macro lens. I have a canon dslr eos rebel, it does not have a macro setting so i need a lens. Can anyone be of some help, I just want a macro lens that will shoot toys and joes and stuff. i get really confused with all the 28-80mm and 25-300mm. What do I need? I found an 35-80mm canon lens w/ lens cover.
shoots macro at .4m/1.3ft for 75 bucks is that good? I dont know any help would be much appreciated! thanks! dreadnok dread

Im in the same boat as you. I have a decent Nikon from about 5 years ago that can use upgraded lens but don't really know which ones are good for Close ups of Joes.

Instead of spending $ on a lens, try a set of macro extention tubes. I sold my wife's old Nikon set this morning on ebay. They will cost about $100 for a good set.

Okay so I finally got a macro lens. It was free from my brother in law! Its a 50-80 1.4f
I thought I wouldn't notice the difference but wow! The close up features are great. The only problem is I have to change lenses when I want to take wider shots and the lens won't work unless you have alot of proper light. I also got some lens attachers and am using the 58mm on the macro lens as well. I posted a picture of an old shot taken over again with the macro to show the difference in detail. I still haven't used it in my light box thats the next task at hand! I will keep updating this and maybe add some pics so people can see the difference. cheers Dreadnok Dread
