stargate's don s. davis.
for anyone like myself who was is a fan of stargate this is sad news. Don S. Davis has passed away. he is most known as his role in the sg1 series as general George Hammond. his character along with Richard Dean Anderson was what got me to love the series so, so much. i almost stopped watching the series when he left, and when anderson left i really didnt care anymore. the show meant so much to me the last 3 years as i watched it everyday without fail at 6pm on sci-fi. it was fun general, thank you so much for the memories. we salute you, yo joe...

Wow. This is very sad news. I'm a big fan of Stargate as well -- earlier this year I finally got through watching the entire series in order (hopping between the US & UK messed up watching it when it was broadcast). I loved Hammond's character, the humanity he brought to the show rather than just being some hardline authority figure (unless he had to be). I was also always happy to see Davis appear in other things -- the first to come to mind is that he played Scully's father on The X-Files.
My condolences go out to his family & friends, and to the acting world for its loss. Godspeed, General.

Sad, sad news. My sister and I got to meet him a few years ago at a Sci-Fi Con. He was very nice guy. My sister even recommended a piece of music by Mozart to him.

What!? I had no idea that he had passed away, this is very unfortunate news as well. I am a huge fan of Stargate and have actually started watching this other show called Twin Peaks where he plays the role of a major. I jokingly considered that show as taking place before Stargate even though he was a different character entirely from Stargate. Nonetheless he was a great actor and it's a shame he won't be in anything anymore.
