Characters you hated but now love...
...or rather... Characters you hated back when but can live with or love now? Everyone has their biases for whatever reason. There were a ton of Duke haters not too long ago, y'know?
For starters, I can deal with Duke a lot better than I could. I didn't like him as a kid and well, the multiple versions in 2002 and then his liberal use in the movies. gah. BUT when it turned for me was his Sigma6 version. I loved the v1 figure. I loved how he was in the cartoon; kinda stiff, barking orders... he was definitely not the ULTIMATE man of action.

I liked Duke as a kid but lost interest a few years back around '02. There were so many Dukes and none of them looked good. I love the 25th version to death though, so Duke is back up in my new Verse.
I didn't really care for Tunnelrat as a kid, but now he's become my most used Joe in dios. I also hated Sub-Zero and Topside. My cousin had 'em and I though they looked garish. Now I have a little more respect for both as I like Artic and Water Joes a lot.
On the Cobra side of things, Serpentor was one of my favorites when I was younger. I had gotten the Chariot for Christmas one year and between that and the movie he was the epitme of Cobras for me. Now, not so much. I still like the original, but don't use him ever. It's kinda like I have him just to have him.
I'm sure there's more. But that's it for now.

Pimp Daddy Destro! When I first saw him, I was like "You gotta be $hittin me!" but now, I created a place for him in my Joeverse and he's actually one of the few characters I have the freedom to mold in Personality and Character without having to worry about the Comic or Cartoon history of him!

mmm, didn't care for mutt. now he is one of my fave figures. major bludd was nothing to me, didn't hate him nor like him. now however, he is top 5 in my bad guys. hated flint as much as i do duke, now i cant see a joe team without him. going in the other direction, i loved snake eyes, now i loath him as much as duke. but you knew that.

I thought the same thing about PDD until I read your last dio story. I don't think I'll ever get the figure, but you were able to do something really cool with him.
Gnawgahyde was a character I never really liked, but Violentfix used him greatly in Operation Rapier, and helped me see how cool he really was.
I never thought much of Big Ben back in the day, didn't hate him, he just didn't stand out to me, but I've read up a lot on the SAS in the past couple of years and grown to appreciate him a lot.
For a lot of characters, all it takes is a well written story to make them cool, well, except for any ninja character

I despised Serpentor back when he hit the scene and usurped CC's power. Now that it's clear that Hasbro has entrenched CC as the MAN in Cobra, I've grown much fonder of Serpy as a foil to CC, but never a replacement.

Originally, I really wasn't a big fan of Tomax and Xamot, I thought the whole Corsican Brothers thing was lame. However, as time goes on and after reading the comics, both Marvel, and DDP, I have actually grown to like the characters.

Honestly, my attitudes towards most characters haven't changed.
I guess I've lightened my stance on Alexander.
