Default 1:18 Scale my @$$

I just went to Ontario Mills Shopping Outlet. They have a store there that sells Model Cars in all scales called "Stop Sign". They are going out of business so I scooped up a 1:18 Scale Lamborghini Diabolo and a 1:18 scale '69 Plymouth Barracuda CHEAP!!! I had an idea of Clutch in Classic American steel vs. A cobra Coils driver in the Italian Street Dream. Great Idea, but lousy fit! I thought 1:18 scale was what GI Joe figures were. But when I tried to fit the figures in the cars, no go! Damn! I basically wasted $35.00 on two VERY COOL cars that I Can't use!

Anyone have cars that are 1:14 scale or 1:16 scale and can tell me if they fit better? 1:18 Scale Cars are too small for GI Joes.

Cool I have..

I have the General Lee, The A-Team Truck.. and the Corvette from the A-Team. These were designed for 3 3/4 figures.. ooh and I also have a police patrol squad car from chap mei that looks great with space precinct figures
Dave aka G.I.*JOCK bought a vehicle off ebay not to long ago.. a few months back maybe you should ask him what scale it was.. because it seemed to fit the Joe figs he pictured it with.

Indeed I did, It was a 1:18 scale Range Rover. With a bit of fiddling I got the figures to fit. But not every figure fits. I figured Destro wouldn't use Hummer's being a British Lord and so kitted him out with a Rangey. The picutres are up on the site...

I think it seems to depend on the model manufacturer for the sizes, some 1:18 scale models will be slightly bigger or small than others. I have a 1:18 Aston Martin DB5 that no figure will fit in!

I think the answer is to go 1:16 but I haven't yet tried that myself. It seems a bit risky to go for 1:18 scale in my experience!

I know G and Craig have models too, they might be able to give you further advice as well!

Hope that helps bro!

Dave

Here's a shot if the idea of figure fit in the Range Rover, don't think this shot made it to the site:

I've found that the 1.18 cars don't fit Joe either. Be it the steering wheel, peddles or seat placement. HOWEVER, the 2.5" Joes fit very well into them. Kody has a 2.5" Long Range in the Evo I gave him and it actually looks perfect!

Same thing here Frank. I have a few 1:18 scale cars, and none of 'em fit Joes in! It seems to be either not enough room for the legs to fit under the steering wheel or not enough headroom. the only way I found to have a Joe in one of these cars was to take the figure apart and just sit the upper body on the seat. With the door closed it looked perfect!

I did a couple of test shots with Gung Ho leaning up against my 1:18 Lamborgini, but I to could not get him to fit, I did find a 1:18 open top Mercedes I think will work, but that would be more fitting for the terror twins.
