Default What to do with Destro?

Greetings!

When Destro was first introduced I associated him as being one of many weapon suppliers, or perhaps other type of suppliers--uniforms, food, financial--and the mask was generic. Maybe that every supplier to remain anonymous would wear some mask, maybe the same looking mask. This is what I thought and even wondered when Hasbro was going to release another masked supplier.

Now with Destro being bundled in so many comic packs and things, I have a collection of Destros! And the more I read everyone's dio's I see everyone has their own Joeverse, so I'm going to do that old idea of multiple suppliers with masks. Probably suppliers in a board room, each a custom with a mask. But I am wondering, it seems people here are collectors as well, and own many figures of various lines, and own many duplicates. What do you all do with your spares -- Destros, Cobra Commanders, Dukes, Hawks, etc?

Thats an great idea! A board rooom of suits all wearing iron masks is a powerfull image.
I am going to keep two Destros and use the rest for customs personally.

Repaints are one issue. Different outfits are another.

Destro only needs two outfits, IG w/cape and his v1 outfit. Anything else is pointless.

Repaints and duplicates... most of them I just put in a box of unused stuff. Though, I would say they are synthoids.

It depends on the version of the figure. The spytroops Duke and the original duke are sooooo different that I have actually called them two different people. You take those two and look at the 25th Anni. version of Duke and you've got yet another person. In my Joeverse - the 25th anni. tend to be the original person. I have no prob with this because I'm not focusing on using the original joe team for my dios. I'm working out an unrelated team of customs and variants who occasionally bump into the Joes. I guess to answer your question, I use most of by o-ring versions as either custom fodder or troop builders.

It's an interesting idea. Since Destro's mask is a family heirloom all the other mask wearers could be relatives, cousins, brother in-laws, etc. As they take on jobs at MARS, the family business, they could be required to don the mask as a tradition.

I usually don't buy multiple versions of characters so I don't run into the problem.

I usually buy 2-3 of each character I find. One is for display, one for custom, and (if I like them) another for display (loose). With Destro I currently have 7, CC I have 12, and so forth.

I use my extras for various things, CC stands on display in "Tripwire/CC comic-pack" uniform, while each of the other CCs are in the background as different "outfits".

Storm Shadow stands on display in his "legions" uniform (white w/ red markings), while 6 "black" stormshadows stand behind him as his own Cobra unit.

My point is using the various versions or even the same version, for various things. I have 8 "Cobra-Flints", all of them are my Cobra "Tech-troops" (basicly mechanics).

I had one dio, "Fallout" that I used all the Destro's as members of a Clan. James Cullen is the leader and owner of Mars, but his uncles, Cousins, etc are also share holders and work for the company. When they gather for Board Meetings, they all wear the "Destro" attire which includes the steel mask.

As for others I have multiples of, it depends...

Hawk, you can use as any generic general. Duke, some of his versions are so bland you can use as greenshirts. Cobra Commanders can be used as doppelgangers used to protect the commander or body guards. I use the purple and Black versions of Firefly from the bastard era as Coil troopers. I use the Anti Venom Squad as Steel Brigade.

Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow....they are a little harder to place!

I have an odd tendency to GIVE the extras to kids, friends or ppl here if in interested.

In terms of Destro. My default is the 25A v1 (or original flavor). The Blue comic pack version is Alexander (yeah yeah, he died, so what?). The IG Gold Head is... Uh, he just sits in a box until I feel like going the IG route.

CC. The masked w/ sword (Tripwire/CC comic pack) is my default and I BELIEVE the 5-pack CC (original cobra 5-pack) is my default. The battle armor just sits in a box in case he feels likes suiting up. Due to the way my stories play out, that might be a while!

Duke. 25A is the default until I get the Resolute version. The Bastard Era Dukes, not even SURE if I have them anymore. I know that the "duke" with desert humvee was a desert jabroni.

Snake Eyes. I took 25A v1 body and gave him the v2 head. Tho the v3 (knives on chest) is pretty darn cool too.

Storm Shadow. Since he's a bad guy in my verse, the default is the Cobra Legions 5 pack tho I THINK I swapped the head. Or something. The other Stormys represent the White Lotus Society since Tommy is no longer head of the Arashikage.
