Default why did sigma 6 fail

im not sure why the toy line failed. i never bought any but i thought they were great. only thing were that they were 8 inch so not compatible with 3 3/4, but it seems that there are a lot of kids who would have bought them anyway.

i still dont know why the cartoon failed. although it wasnt the old joes i love, it was made perfect for todays kids who watch the stuff. like DBZ, pokamon, nurato and so on. it always seemed like the joes were on the brink of being defeated but at the last moment their shear will pulled them through, which is what the kids like. the art was good with fast paced action and good suits that i want on 3 3/4.

the only bad things are how they changed scarletts voice, using heavy duty instead of roadblock and tunnel rats stupid character and of course hawks son, but he was there so the kids would have someone to relate to. it had some other good points like cobra commander actually being evil rather then stupid. the customs as i already said, the action and i loved that storm shadow was equal if not better then snake eyes.

i know some of you bought the toys and maybe watched the cartoons, why do you think it failed, and will hasbro do the same with the new cartoon?

Sigma6 as a theme didn't fail. It did VERY WELL.

When the suits went away and Hasbro tried to pull the Combat and Adventure stuff, that's when things fell apart. It was like, they were pushing too hard at that point. Plus, the 25A were in the wings and a lot of focus from the fandom were looking there.

The 8" figures, for the most part, were quality and great fun to play with. Will S6 come back? I doubt it, at least the NAME won't. But the upcoming movie, are they not going to be wearing S6-type of 'power' suits? mmmmmmm???

the problem was that kids weren't watching the show, the programing block it was on was always shifting it around so for a month it was on at eight then it was on at eleven thirty then it was on at ten or nine, plus the story wasn't really there other than the Joes had to find a crystal or something before Cobra,as for the toy line well the figures did look cool but one of the great things about Joe when i was a kid was that the figures were all the same size,so you could intermix your adventures, plus i don't think that parents wanted to shell out ten bucks a fig to help junior complete his collection and that as well could have hurt the line

I like the S6 cartoon alot, I thought is was a great "today" version of the Joes. I must admit I love the 8" figures, I had almost every last one of them that I regretfully had to sell a couple of months back for medical reasons. I do not know why the cartoon was cancelled in the middle of it. The toys failed like Sonn said because they went away from the roots (go figure). AT stuff had no place in this line. They did not even make figures out of all the characters that were in the 'toon. Come on the Baroness & Scarlett would have sold like CRAZY! They also Duked it to death. There are some fine figs: Lt Stone, Zartan & Battlefield Cobra Commander are awesome! BTW...I thought Scarlett's voice was great!

I actually liked the interaction between Tunnel Rat and Heavy Duty. And Kamakura falling OUT OF THE ICE SABER in the mini-series was hilarious! Honestly, the portrayal of Duke was perfect, imo. And as sad as it sounds, there were some VERY AWESOME DUke figures made. I'm thinking of the HALO DUKE in particular as well as the one with the funky 2-barrel gun. I still have my Ultimo Duke. It's the v2 JetWing Duke w/ v1's vest & holsters.

Well i think you just answered that question for yourself..
Most of us either sat at home and thought the very same thing lehsreh..
"They look alright but i wont be buying them" usual response, although i did hear alot worser comments by die hard RAH lovers "Sigma Sux" etc..

The fact is Hasbro don't wanna know if you think they are alright or cool, just whether or not you'll be shelling out the dough for them.. if your not.. they'll can it.. just like they did with Sigma.
I personally thought that some of the things in Sigma 6 strayed way too far out of the original storyline, they could of kept the main idea for it to be futuristic and sci fi but actually kept the main plot together.

It was a valiant effort by them in all fairness they had a cartoon and a series of figures made.. it's no wonder they abused the 25th Celebrations by jumping on the nostalgia.. but hey that's business.

Rich said it much more eloquenty that I, but it basically boils down to, if it ain't a billion dollar profit overnight sucess, the next "Cabbage patch-power rangers-Harry Potter" money making cash cow, Hasbro is gonna trash it. End of story!

Seriously guys, the S6 theme was a success! The cartoon DID air at a pretty consistent time for at least a season or most of it. What was it, 0900 on Saturdays on FOX??? Mysterious Stranger prolly remembers what happens better. I know that without support, the line started to fall. You get the STUPID motorcycle BAT and crap like that... BUT the turn to Adventure TEam and Combat Squad and whatever else they did tried to pull was just bogus.

COMBAT TEAM wasn't a bad idea. In a way, I kinda thought it was to take the place of the 12" THO it was very different in style. Like, to try and get kids into the classic stuff or something bizarre. Kinda like how the Viper and Bazooka made it into 12" form!

Hasbro needed a winner and S6 was it. It didn't last long, but these guys apparently need a fast fu... I mean... Fast cash as opposed to projecting YEARS into the future. American business has ALWAYS been picked on for not being as smart as the Japanese in terms of trying to forcast into the future.

The way I feel, the switch FROM S6 (the lack of PowerSuits) really killed the line. Joe fans, believe it or not, were finally getting a team where the crew were wearing similiar suits. In a way, S6 wasn't THAT much different than the Original13 'cept that the suits were more 'modernized'. I'm cool with that. I really am.

BUT the movie, not so much...

I wouldn't go near 8" with a 10 ft pole at this point. It had it's time and it did very well and had some amazing ideas.

WE ALL KNOW THAT A TOY HAS TO HAVE CARTOON OR MOVIE SUPPORT TO MAKE IT SUCCEED. WHY HASBRO WON'T SUCK IT UP AND DO WHAT IS NEEDED IS BEYOND ME.

also commercials. how is anyone going to know whats out there. as you said, i liked the power suites, they fit the joeverse and the story did tie in with the other joe cartoons. remember duke visiting hawk in the hospital and talking about his DNA? i wasnt going to buy the toys because of the size, but i thought many kids would or did. i watched the cartoon every weekend, but the small size of the joe team made it get dull very fast.
