Great Figures - Horrible Paint
I've been goign through some old figures from the early 90's and I've kind of been impressed with some of molds. I guess I had kinda overlooked some of them becasue of the horrible paint scheme. What do you guys think? What are the best figures ruined by a horrible paint scheme. I would like to see what everybody thinks on this one. I'll start with a few.
1. Skidmark - This is a great mold. If he had been painted khaki and black or olive and black he would be on everyone's must have list.
2. Windmill - I know the horns on the helmet are weird, but this is a cool mold. I don't know what made the design team decide that puke neon green and orange were good colors for vehicle drivers.
1993 Bazooka - the color scheme makes him look like he's going fishing in old sweat pants, but just imagine it in a green camo and black scheme. This is a cool mold.
1993 Leatherneck - the man is wearing leopard (giraffe?) skin pants and blue web gear. He must be getting dressed in the dark. Seriously blue web gear and leopard pant. What were they thinking. Just imagine this in a desert camo scheme or even jungle camo. This mold had a ton of potential.

I Agree There Are Alot Of Great Molds That Come Out With Some Weird Color Pallets. For Example 1989 Downtown Had That Funky Green Shirt And Bright Orange On His Straps And Boots Wtf...

There were so many great sculpts with stupid colours that most of my time back then was spent customising. It took ages, but I eventually managed to eliminate all non-military colours from my Joes. Some of it was achieved via part swapping, but most of it via painting.

Imagine the Version 2 Firefly figure from 1992 in the same colors as the original. That would rock.
Cause you don't get the full effect without the hat.

Roadblock V4, with the green shirt and bright blue pants. The sculpt was brillaint unfortunately so were the colors used!
Mercer v2, what happened there!?! The orange was terrible.
Lowlight v2, all the sudden he's got black hair? Was LL a bleach blonde perhaps? Plus the teal would've worked better if olive or black/grey.
That's a few I had qualms with as a kid. The only one I owned was Roadblock. I remember searching for him forever and then Battle Corps came out and he was in the first wave. I think I recall getting him at target.

Afew more I had that wished the colors weren't so bad.
Bat v2
Tracker
Firefly v2 (as mentioned above)
Bazooka v3 ("")
Hawk v4, I always hated how tan he was!!!
Iceberg v2
Then Ace v3 came out with the Ghost striker and I was like, "Ace, where you been all my life!!!" That figure was a perfect example of what I wish hasbro was doing. One of the best vehicle drivers ever!

I'll add Colonel Courage to the list. The neon highlights kill an otherwise awesome mold.

'Ninja' Scarlett...........ugh!!!!
And while the character is kick arse, making her with the dreaded 'T-crotch' was another no-no.........
