They didn't do much for me. I didn't care for the bodies the used. COILS is tall by new sculpt standards, which maybe isn't too bad for a character, but that left hand is useless, plus whats-his-name can't even move his neck. The other two had that bulky Snake-Eyes body with extra articulation that was good on paper, but did little to make up for the short comings of the rest of the body. Plus, it was SNAKE-EYES' body in Snake-Eyes-ish colors.
And for a team of individuals, those two were too much alike, one with red, one with yellow...plus one had a spikey helmet. One wonders if the other plague members weren't just that same look, each with it's own purple, green, orange, pink, or burnt sienna accents.
As for the concept, suddenly after going kill happy and wasting every non-core character left and right, some Devil Due's writer creates new henchmen characters? Why not use existing ones? The Plague reeks of Gen X "here's our take on Cobra" fanfic, making me weary of fans running toy line.
I think there's room for ARAH looks and all-new looks, but for some reason Hasbro has its mind set that there can only be one style of GI JOE, be that construction or appearance, and maybe even scale (we'll see if 8" continues next year or 12" returns or what).
I'm of the mind that the 25th series is disappointing, but servicable. That may change. I only have 3 figures so far. If they could SIT DOWN, that would really raise my opinion of them. Updated figures should be able to do what a figure from 1982 could do.
