Best war Movie
For my money the best war movie was Blackhawk Down
|
Kelley's Heroes!
|
Has to be "The Longest Day" or Patton for me.
|
I'm a fan of Platoon myself. Blackhawk Down was great but I'd take Hurt Locker over that flick.
|
I still have not seen Hurt Locker but everyone says its good. I guess I will have to see it soon.

Just Netflixed it, of course it has a "very long wait"! |
"The Guns of Navarone"
"Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" "Sahara" "Sink the Bismark" "The Longest Day" "Midway" "Tora, Tora, Tora" "Platoon" "All Quiet on the Western Front" "The Great Escape" "The Bridge on the River Kwai" "Sergeant York" "The Empire of the Sun" "Battle of the Bulge" Just a few off the top of my mind. Being a history buff I love classic movies, and love the old war films. I do watch documentaries once a year like Victory at Sea, and even Vietnam, a History. For films it's gotta be the old stuff. Take Sahara, for example, it's gritty, or a few weeks ago on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) the movie "The Seven Graves". How about non-WWII films? "The Four Feathers" (1939?) come to mind, or some of those about the French Foreign Legion. Lots of great stuff! |
Hurt Locker had a limited release in both theater and dvd. I grabbed one when I could. TG and I watched that movie thru JTV and we were just floored. Talk about suspense! I just knew I had to have it in the end.

I have to add "Lawrence of Arabia" too... which is coming on TCM this Saturday.
