G.I. Joe Christmas Catalog Pages

GoCards 10-18-2011 07:35 AM

Wow, the nostalgia. Thanks for making me feel old :).

LT Shipwreck 10-18-2011 06:14 PM

I want an adult size of that shirt the kid with the rattler is wearing!

ThinkTank 10-18-2011 07:19 PM

I like how they have 8 or 9 shipwrecks running around on one of the flaggs and how one has a white patch of gravel for Snow Job to ski on. These are awesome. I remember drooling over the Joe pages in the toy section of the Sears catalog at my grandmother's house.

Crimson Pilot 10-18-2011 09:57 PM

Back when the Flagg was only $125, good times. I remember X-mas lists having page #s and letter/numbers on it for what we wanted.

neapolitan joe 10-19-2011 06:54 AM

Great thread.

1) Why Clutch drives a F.A.N.G.!? :)
2) Note that the U.S.S. Flagg prototype was higher then the final one product.

Django 10-19-2011 11:39 AM

"fortress has kid powered elevator" Im pretty sure some of these are still in operation in china. :D

Hammerfel 10-19-2011 05:11 PM

SO AWESOME! Thanks!

80s Child 10-19-2011 07:19 PM

Thanks for the cool tip NJ!

Man, now that Halloween is here today, the Holiday Season has officially started!!

Love looking at these old catalog pics - they truly were the ORIGINAL DIOS that inspired us all to set up equally cool shots of our own I think! :D

The G.I.JOE's '80s catalogs from Belgium and Holland were AWESOME, search them on google, I have to find theme too.

I remember Fred Savage's character burying his "dead" Joes. How cool would that be, buying a house and finding a Joe graveyard in the back.

acmillerjr 10-31-2011 05:35 PM

love that cobra missile launch base

I tried google-ing those catalogs, but didn't have any success NJ. :(

Is there any way that you could get some scans of them posted up to this thread or maybe somwhere else on this site? Or even a link would be awesome!

yorktownjoe 11-11-2011 05:04 AM

Great pages...I remember my brother and I trying to buy the first small vehicle or playset we could afford to get the mini catalog and see what else we could get for Christmas.

I know :( - I'm afraid nothing will ever quite capture that same type of magic again.

Except maybe looking these old catalog pages over again....or if we could just get her up to 88 mph ;)

The BATman 11-29-2011 12:33 PM

Oh man, that takes one back... to the time when I was a ten years old kid, browsing through those catalogs... They did catalogs with big dios like that for five years in a row, and it was those that really got me hooked on the toys. I've still got them all (and often multiple copies too). Good times...

80s Child 12-06-2011 06:25 AM

19 days 'till Christmas, and I it's too bad that Sears doesn't sell time machines. ;)

I just watched/skimmed through this movie on Netflix - he sure did have a lot of Joes - like 3 Thunders and 2 Dragonflys! It was cute how he put camo on Max the dog's forehead! :)

neapolitan joe 12-21-2011 01:18 PM

I found them!

After a month I found the '80s european Hasbro pictures I was writing about:

Wow - the first link really makes the Sky Patrol vehicles look cool and the second link is even better showcasing the mean dog & those little single-serve dios with Mercer & Storm Shadow, The IMPs on the bridge, The Hydro-Viper hide-out!

Thank you SOOOOOO much NJ!!! Christmas came a few days early for me - I'll be sifting through these bad boys for hours! Thanks again so much!! - A true rare find these are! :D

Lava Boss 12-21-2011 02:49 PM
