Whats going on with the pics?
why are the pics showing up multiple times?
|
Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
I have this bad problem too.
 |
it seems to be only the previews/thumbnails, when you actually click on the pictures they show up as normal.
|
True, it only happens with the thumbnails, but if someone posts 3 pics to create a short 3 part story-like dio segment or triptych, it appear they have posted 3 of a kind.
Well, in the sense that drawing 3 Ace of Clubs is considered 3 of a kind. At least it works when you click the actual images. You can avoid this by opening a picture and then navigating through every pic until you get to the last one you had seen previously...but that can be tedious. |
I hope it gets fixed soon. I have to look at every single photo now to check if it's a double post. Ugh...

a cobrasīs virus was insert in the system.

My log in has only worked three times in 3 weeks

I went to look at Flatline's "BREAK TIME" it had the thumbnail for his "OUT FROM THE SHADOWS" picture, when I click on the thumbnail I get the correct picture, but when I clicked on the picture for the 3072 x 2304 version I get the enlarged version of the "OUT FROM THE SHADOWS" picture. Has any one else experienced this?

yep. on my own post. |
yeah, I put a cobra island map up in the "files" section, but now it's thumbnail shows my Cobra High Command picture that I posted AFTER it in the "ARAH" section - it appears that whatever picture you post MOST RECENTLY, appears as the thumbnail "teaser" pic for ALL of your posts.... Not sure why, but I'm sure the webmaster will get it fixed eventually.
|
at least the piture titles are correct. i just look at the titles, and check out the pix whenever there's a new one.
|
Grrrrr!
For Hell, somebody fix this!
 ( ;) ). |

"For Hell"? ---------- Nice! Can I borrow that the next time I get pi$$ed off at something? ;) 7734 is "Hell" upside down on a calculator.... |
Just to add to the drama I noticed the thumbnail on my T-cats review turned into the cover of the latest Scale Wars, but when I click it the pic is right, weird.

I noticed that too today Zed when I was looking over your T-Cats review again. I see you use Buggs Bunny in Scale Wars - have you seen the new Looney Tunes show on Cartoon Network yet - the writting is Hilarious! It's a clever updated reboot of the old Looney Toons! :) |

Ha!!! Sorry, this really isn't a joking matter, but that was funny. |
So is this going to stay this way much longer? Makes it kind of hard to use. :(
|
Bah!

I have probelms to re-check all the pics, arah etc. every time. Is this thing so difficult to fix? I am officially disappointed. |
Not sure if this will help get it fixed or not, but here is something i noticed:
On August 25th I posted a pic and it is still the thumbnail of what it is supposed to be (in my own personal page of images), the next one I posted was September 15th, and that pic is sharing the same new image as everything I posted post-9/15. So, I think the glitch had to occur after 8/26, because my August 25th pic and all previous pics are what they are supposed to be. |
We need to make a sacrifice to appease the Internet Gods! Grab your pitchforks and torches! Start with the superhero figures, they're the ones to blame!
|
So here's an interesting twist! I posted a shot a day or two ago and posted another figuring the glitch would hit me too. It did, but instead of replacing the thumbnail on my first shot with my newest one, it replaced the newest one with the old one!
This is nuts! |
I posted 3 pictures and 2 out of 3 of the thumbnails were correctly labled but as soon as I posted pic 3 all of the thumbnails of the pics I just posted turned into my last picture I posted hope this helps?????????????

Where is Mainframe when you need him.

Yeah this is driving me nuts and I haven't posted till today hoping to ride it out till things get fixed. This has always been the place for dios but with the thumbnails screwed up its not as fun.

I agree. |
I haven't used this place much because the thumbnail problem bugs me that bad. It would be nice if it were fixed!
|
.
If this problem it'll not fixed in a week, I'll leave Joedios.
|
Is there progress/news?

Same here, it really makes going to this site a bit of a chore. |
I've got to agree that the lack of usable thumbnails makes using the site rather difficult.
Apparently different authors have their images placed in subdirectories of http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/files/ with their userid number split into single digits and each digit creating a new directory (presumably this is done to ensure that there are never too many subdirectories as this makes traversing the tree time-consuming iirc) E.g. Falcon C (sorry for picking on you!) is user number 3791, so if he were to upload a file called zartan.jpg (which he did), it would appear here: http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/fil.../9/1/zartan.jpg Now the curious thing is that if you look back at the older photos, the thumbnail for this file should, afaict, be called http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/fil...artan_thumb.jpg, while what we currently see is this: http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/fil.../9/1/_thumb.jpg Now presumably that _thumb.jpg file will change with each uploaded photo (so the thumbnail should really always be of the last upload, not sure if that is true) and it appears that the problem is caused by the script/program that generates the thumbnails from the full-size images not naming the thumbnails correctly. So enough of the analysis, how do we fix this? Who has the authority to alter the website scripts? I'm not sure how the thumbnail pages are generated, but I imagine there is a record of each file uploaded which is used to determine which thumbnail should be shown, perhaps it falls back to showing _thumb.jpg if it can't find the correctly named thumbnail, or perhaps the (incorrect) thumbnail name is written to the DB when the record is created. In either case it should be reasonably simple to parse the database looking for thumbnails named _thumb.jpg, re-generate the thumbanail with the correct name and update the DB. He says... ;) |
Lardman, I did not understand what you typed, but you have my respect you know what your talking about. :D

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't understand that... felt like my brain was hitting the sides of my skull... but in a good way cause someone actually might have a idea on how to fix it... |
