8th grade...
Just got back from my first day of 8th grade. I was soo scared and nervous I brought my 25th Destro for ''support''. I had him in my pocket the whole day. Having a GI Joe in your pocket makes the world soo much easier! jk :D
|
school is where i got hooked on the joe figures. a friend of mine brought all of his and we played with them all day. i dont remember what grade i was in, but it was a great time.
|
I remember the 8th grade...i just got glasses (i now wear contacts), grew 3 more inches (after 6 the previous year), and started to realize that my calling was to scientific research. Also bought some of my last joes that year. :(

Unfortunately now adays if you get cought with something like a military action figure in your pocket, the school goes into lock down, parents are called, you have to go through psycological evaluations, teachers fear for their lives and the lives of their students, you get expelled from school and are classified as a threat to national security.
Having Destro in your pocket is an even bigger threat as he represents a terrorist organization, then you get put on "no fly" lists and your nationality, loyalties and faith are brought into question, you'll never be able to get any kind of job with the government and your house and extended family will be under constant survelliance by Homeland Security. |

Scary thing is.....This isn't far from the truth. |

Well just remeber that school comes first! This is so you can go to college, get a great paying job, and spend all your free money on Joes! :D

Sad but very true. |
I used to keep a Mr. Spock action figure with me, especially during test days. I'd set him up on the desk and anytime I had a problem, Spock would remind me that through logic I could figure it out. Of course I didn't always get the answer right but it was poetic nonetheless. Unfortunately is was also "girl repellent" and it was something I was never able to bounce back from until high school...

So very true. |
That's funny, I took a figure with me all the time in college. Sure, it changed on a daily basis, but they'd help me out when doing stuff on the computer. On tests, well, Mainframe didn't help much with PreCal and Trig. :(

Not the first time I heard about things like this either. Also, someone else had gotten suspended for bringing 1 green plastic army man. |
Ehh, school only gets complicated my friend. Have fun!

i love it how people think because you go to college youre going to get a high paying job.. so not true..it will definatly help out with getting a job but not neccessarily a high paying one. |

Come on, Lowjacked was just being encouraging, no need to be so grumpy. Let's not pick fights and keep this about our buddy Strider, and good luck to him on his days at school! :) |
Good luck this year.
Best thing to do is your home work right after school if possible. That way after supper you can have your time to play with your joes and things. That work is still pretty fresh in your mind so it will be easier to do. |
8th grade for me was one of the worst years ever, and it was GI Joe that helped me get through it. As bad as school was I always looked forward to getting home, and locking myself in my toy room and playing with the Joe figures.
One time in the 7th grade my mom let me take a treasure troll to school to place on my desk while taking a math class in hopes that it bring me luck and I'd actually pass the test. I ended up starting a fad where nearly every student was bringing trolls to school, and the school ended up banning them. |
School... as others have said, let that be your priority. It comes first. Do homework asap and then do a little extra... i.e. math the teachers would assign the odd numbers, but usually the even numbers resembled what would actually be on a test. Get good with math... become expert with algebra... even in college, calculus is easy, it is the algebra that can mess you up on a test--careless algebra mistakes. You can use algebra even in accounting. My managerial accounting class was being taught in an expimental way using basic algebra for all of it. I actually understood the darn subject. Reading and writing skills are the next important for college. College is no guarantee for a high paying job, but it helps tremendously...especially that you can stick to a long term goal...college...and finish it. Employers can look for that as a clue to the person applying for a job. It does show that you can stick with a project until it's conclusion. Afterall, anyone can go to college.. just not as many get to finish it.
It helps to to get above a bachelors degree. Because there will be many ppl like you graduating with your bachelor degree... competition. So with everything you do, set yourself apart... deferent, better than the competition. And network ppl... friends may get a job in a company you want to be at. It helps not to burn bridges. But in terms of 8th grade, it's the starting point for your adult school pattern/life. Develop good studying techniques. And don't be quick to throw away books you find useful. They can serve as reference for something you're struggling with later. I'm sure there is more i can share with you from experience...but for now i have to go. My flight is boarding. Sorry for the typos...this is being typed on my phone. |
Don;t fret about 8th too much, its just there to shape how you will spend High School.
I took in 8th ART I Algebra I And the simple stuff, History, English, the usual. Now I'm a sophomore and that stuff seems easy compared to what I have now! |

This is true. Best wishes as you continue your studies! |
