Forced Perspective
Does this work?
The Helo on the ground is a 1:72 CH-53E Super Stallion. The foreground helo is a Dragonfly. Does this work as forced perspective or does it look like two different scale helos? The final shot will be taken outside so the flash shadow of the landing skid won't be a factor. ![]() |
it could work if you put some movement in the ground like peope or more vehicles in the same scale or a storage where it is landing, great idea!!!

I agree, it would work with other small elements.. like ppl. If i just look at the two 'copters as is, it works, but having other elements would enforce it.

Is there a a 1:18 CH-53E Super Stallion copter?

If there was, the fuselage would be about 3 1/2 feet long and the rotor diameter would be about the same. It's not inconcievable, as the 1/18 scale F-14 is about that size, but it's unlikely it'll be made. Cargo/troop transport helos just aren't "sexy" enough. I don't know that I've even seen a 1/48 or 1/35 scale CH-53, I've only found them in 1/72. |
I think it will work just fine. Like everyone said, just add a few more elements on the ground and it should look sweet.

It works for me. I did this a lot in my Transformers crossover to cut down on Photoshop work. Here's an example:

The perspective work fine man. And as everyone said, the more props, the more it'll be convincing.

Is the Joe/TF crossover on General Joes? I read that..if it's the same one, lots of good shots like that. |
If you put a bit more in the same scale as the chopper on the ground you have it made, or if you take them out and have the ground way in the background (as in both are flying) I think it works too.

Weren't some of those TFs the bigger versions? Like the Megatron standing outside the Terrordrome? Or Bombstrike et al riding in Hound (the green Jeep Wrangler) If not, that's one helluva Photoshop job. Cool story. Quote:
I don't think it'll be too hard to find a couple 1/72 scale HMMWVs or some other vehicles. The look I'm going to go for is the Cobra will be providing air cover while the CH-53E picks up some troops from a hot LZ. |

I wish! And a 1:18 scale Osprey! I know, I know, Chap Mei makes an Osprey, but it's NOT to scale! |

Glad you liked the story! If I can ever get motivated to take some pictures, there will be more on the way. |
I think it would work fine but the shadow ruins it just watch your lighting and shadows and it could work out just fine.

I would usually fuzz one of the choppers. Depends where you want the focus. Like, if you blur the chopper near you, that would indicate the chopper below is where you want the reader's focus. And vice versa. Fuzz the bottom, keep the top clear. And then softly blur the background and add some motion fx (not that I usually do).
A lot of it is angle and what not. It's doable. |
