The 2009 JoeDios Awards!
It has been whispered about, in back rooms and hidden bordellos. Untill now, it's mere mention sent shivers through the spines of mods around our community. It has caused grown men who play with toys to break down in tears. Often, the great Hammer of Fel, was approached with the idea, but even he in his awesome might and wisdom cowered at it's massive undertaking. Would there ever be a savior? Someone to slay the beast, and bring calm to the lands?
Welcome to the first annual 2009 Joe Dios Awards!  Yes, that's right folks, it's your Rum Powered Raven here, undertaking what was once thought as un-doable without people's toes getting stepped on. I've spoken with Sonny-Lion and showed him my ideas, and he has said run with it. Firstly, I have nothing but love for everyone on the site, and want us to take this entire process as a giant group hug. I hope that the process I have set up for this will eliminate any thoughts of “favoritism” or “cliques” so that we can all have fun. How can we avoid it? Simple, YOU will create the ballot! Huh? Wha? How? Well, bear with me now. Below will be the categories which will appear on the ballot. What I need from YOU are the nominees. I'd like everyone to take this BLANK ballot, and pick 2 or 3 photos for each one, and e-mail your final selections. I'll go through everyone's nominee ballots, and if I keep seeing the same 4 pics, that will make up the ballot. Example : If the Category is “Best LBC”...I want you to go through and pick your 2 or 3 favorite LBCs, and include thier links in your ballot. I will then go through EVERYONE's votes for the Ballot nominations and the 4 or so that show up the most in YOUR nominations will end up on the final Ballot. This is, in essence, a 2 tier vote system. It's a lil extra work from everyone, and ALOT of extra work for me, but it eliminates any idea of favoritism, or toe stepping. So, how's it gonna work. Below is the blank Ballot sheet. I'd like everyone to pick a few pics for each category and send it back to me at a special e-mail address I've set up. Please include your posting handle. In each category, just include the few links for the pics themselves. Example: Category : (the e-mail you send to me would look like the following) Best LBC http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/sho...&searchid=40110 http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/sho...&searchid=40110 Best Use of Fruit http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/sho...&searchid=40111 http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/sho...&searchid=40111 Please, send me the entire site URL, and not just the image link so I know WHO did the shot. Since this is the first EVER awards show, we're gonna use every bloody picture on the site. Depending on how well this takes off, or flies, we might do it again next year, who knows. Who can vote? YOU! Yes you! Active, current members can vote! Prizes? None, so far. I'm doing this more as a “bragging rights” idea, but if anyone would like to donate a prize or two, let me know! Time Frame You have 2 weeks to send in your nominations for the ballot (Oct 14th Deadline). After that, I will post the offical Ballot and we'll have another 2 weeks to vote. (Oct 28th Deadline) Any photo that is posted prior to October 5th, 2009 is eligible. We don't want someone throwing down something AWESOME right at the last second that might get missed this year. Just to make a suggestion here... This site is over 4 yrs old and I'm guessing for that a lot of members, some of the best stuff (imo) is from it's infancy. I suggest that one takes a member whose stuff they really like, click on the name and check out ALL their images. In Outrider's case, at 15 images per page, he has 118 PAGES!!!
It's also easiest to cut n paste the categories onto a WORD page or NOTEPAD or whatever you use and just slog your way thru. It's very easy to just pick works that are a month or two old, but I BEG, you check out all that's there when you have time, bored, etc. |

Believe me, my brain is getting fried.
At 90 images per page, OUtrider has 20 pages! I've gone thru Haradrel and ScubaSteve's so far. I start from the early works then move to the current. Currently on DaveCW2, then got Flatline and Vader9900 in the works. No real order in how I do them, I just kinda hop around. I throw down what I like according to category on a WORD sheet then I'll filter thru them again. VERY long process, Beast. Very long. |

We're keeping the categories 'small' for the start.
Next year if successful, we'll have more. We're only in the nomination stage. Raven won't be voting at all, he'll compile and sort thru everything. And for the most part make it fair. Don't expect to see the 3-5 same guys battling it for EACH category. That wouldn't be fair, right? ;) |

OK, just finished revewing 50 pages (90 per) My eyes hurt, my butt aches, and I can't feel my legs. I am skimming through the pages looking for pics that really catch my eye. Then I ask myself if they are outstanding or not, if so then I ask are they possably a top three all time contender (in catagory) after that is determined I eliminate about 90% of whats left cause they are all Outrider pics! What remains gets copy/pasted to my list for final decision later!
FYI: Craig gets a separate reveiw considering it's going to be hard to pick from his collection! |

Just for the record, we're after CURRENT members.
Members who we haven't seen for well over 6 months (just a sampler) : Luke Ellison LeoTDragon GeneralHawk Sephron13 Bluestaker88 Frk525 (he posted in the forums but hasn't really added anything to the fotos area) You get the idea. you can pretty much look back at the last 5-6 pages and see who has been here the most and who has disappeared. Sure, life gets in the way (ie; DaveCW2, now Monte Williams), but they are around. Speir's around now and then. |

My votes are in. I post a JoeDios Pick of the Week every Monday on my site and there's so many great shots I have a hard time picking just one. Now picking the best shots from the entire JoeDios site was near impossible!
This should be fun, can't wait to see the results. |

don't worry thinktank. We just needed ANY AND ALL members to take a look and see what they liked. it's easy to only want the most recent stuff but a few of us weirdos have had time to to actually go back and in time and spend the HOURS to review it all.
We really need this to work so next year, we can do MORE. But as it stands, I asked Shane to make the categories pretty narrow. The categories are very straight forward. Doesn't get into specifics like "best Joe custom", "best cobra custom", beset sandwich in a scene, etc etc. Shane DID want to add about another 8 categories but this being OUR 1st time, better to keep the subjects narrow. I'd suggest that people do a quick look over stuff (before the cutoff date) and shoot shane a pm or email. THE more options and variety, the better. Don't think that some people might NOT be able to keep from Outrider from dominating EVERY category. Uh, anyway... yeah... |

I hear ya Scuba. I figure next year will be easier in that we have cut off dates. I mean, we won't have to go back 5 years! The only way I can see myself doing things in terms of finding nominees is to create a new FAVORITES folder and just adding link after link after link when I see something I like. *shrug*
