Red Dawn remake?!?
I caught TF2 on Jtv and I was checking out one of the chicks, (not megan fox) a certain Isabel Lucas. Other than she was born in 1985, I noticed that on the list of movies she's working on...
I ran into the fact that a Red Dawn remake is in the works. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234719/ I know Patrick Swayze recently left this world and I THOUGHT I had read that some of you guys would love a remake. Well, looks like it'll happen! |
That would be cool if they do it right. I dont exactly know what "right" would be, seeing as how the Russians aren't really the Cold War baddies they used to be.
|
It is going to fail miserably then.

The Russians & the Chinese don't work well together. Not to mention the Chinese would never go to war with their biggest customer US. |
I'd like to see it as a paralell storyline to the original "Red Dawn", not a remake, sequel or prequel! Be cool seeing another part of the world during the events of the original Red Dawn!

It's a remake.
The villains are Chinese. It just sounds pathetic. |
It would be more cool if it was a group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion by Cobra.

I remember my history professor recounting a story from his history prof who interviewed some of the Japanese prisoners after WWII. The question was asked why they never attempted an assault on the US mainland. The Japanese officer replied that they were well aware that the American civilians were free to keep and bear arms. They didn't want to bog down into a quagmire getting killed trying to take one building after another in any west coast towns.
Red Dawn was a cool idea in the 80's. It was nice to see a fanciful ideal of proud Americans holding their own against communist invaders. But I can't see anyone pulling off this type of story idea in the current time. And yes, China and the US economy are more intertwined than just consumer and producer. They hold a significant percentage of our government securities and long term bonds. It would not be fiscally viable for them to fight directly with us. If they did, where would Hasbro produce our Joes...? :) That would be a better story. A group of Joe collectors fighting to keep a Hasbro factory overseas from being captured by a Chinese government takeover. Okay, I'm tired and rambling... |
Rumor has it that Red Dawn will NOW be US vs South America.

Quote from Carl Ellsworth, the screenwriter. Is he a giant douche on purpose? |

I read that and didn't get that impression. |
Which part of the quote was his? That's he's a giant douche? lol!

I loved Red Dawn, but the story is dated and just wouldn't work in todays world. Besides how could you ever replace such 80s goodness as Jennifer Grey and Leia Thomson!

Red Dawn
Hollywood is running out of original ideas. The Japanese in WW2 launched balloons with explosives hoping to hit the jetstream that passes over the U.S. Many were launched but few reached here. One did explode when a civillian decided to touch it. This was on History Detectives. Let Red Dawn rest.

I did enjoy Red Dawn when it came out, but now days I'm looking for newer stories, not sequels or remakes. Want something new, not a new twist on the old. As of late, I am getting back into books instead of TV. It's just too repetative--too formula.
