Bid4figures.com - Register Now
www.bid4figures.com
Here it is! My friend set this site up to encourage a community setting for auctions. There is plenty of fan-sites, archives, bulletin boards, and such on the web, but there is no auction site that he knows about to help offer an alternative to ebay. So, he's hoping to make this his contribution to the toy lovers of the world. bid4figures.com is a free auction site targeted at collectors of various toy lines from the many different collecting communities, some of which we all have been a part of for some years. If we can all sign up and support this joint venture, then we will at least give ourselves a platform for an alternative instead of using ebay :D Rich (Superiorraw) |
I just registered, I hope this takes off!

Me too... |
Thanks!
Thanks for your registrations, I too definately hopes this takes off, we all believe surely that ebay needs at least an alternative right? :D
I hope to see many other action figure fans on there too, we could help each other initiate our wants via joe dios to the site. So for example if you see something on someones wanted list and see it on the bid site, let them know about it. I'm listing some BINs now, but I'm also listing some low price $2 auctions as well. |
Sounds interesting. I don't use eBay anymore, too many bad experiences.
|
I registered. This sounds like a very good alternative to grEEdbay. eBay was once good, back in the late 90's and up to 2001 or so. It jumped the shark a few times now.
I have some things to list. Are there no fees at all? That is great. It will be easier to list things fairly priced when you don't have to markup 42.5% to break even from eBay and PayPal fees. |
I tried to Register but it keeps saying,"Incorrect Date Format". The only Date on there is the Birth Date, and it has--(dd-mm-yyyy).So I put it in as-05-??-1970,but I put the real Day down and it's 2 numbers,so I don't know what the deal is????

WOOT Im #10! Cant wait to list some of my 12 in joes and acc!!When this takes off I want some stock in this bad boy!!
|
How do you pay eachother with this auction site?
|
Fees explained.
Hi,
I'll try and answer some questions here for you about the site. To list an item with a picture you dont pay a single $. Infact if you select M/O or personal cheque as your payment method, then you'll get the profit from your sales. The only fees your likely to be charged will be if you have paypal as a payment option, (I have this for all my transactions). So you will be charged by paypal for receiving money (payments). Essentially though, the site doesnt charge you picture or listing / gallery fees like evilbay.. and it's only focused on action figures/collectables from the toylines we all collect.. GIJOE, Action Force, Star Wars, Transformers, DC, Marvel, Wrestling.. as much as we can get on there... so the main focus on the site is everything we're interested in.. I really do hope that everyone at least gives this a shot.. with the amount of money and advertising and promotional help ebay has, it's unlikely that we'll get the full support they get, but as I mentioned from the outset, the site focuses soley on our own communities for action figure collecting. If anyone else has any more questions, please fire them here or by pm if I dont know the answer, I can email Scott and ask him directly. Signing up is Free, Also Listing is Free.. the only thing you'll lose out on is time.. Come on give it a go!! :D |

That is odd, I put my date down 04/04/1980 use the / / keystrokes between your day/month/year in entry and see if this works. If you have any problems let me know. |
I meant if I was going to buy figures from there, could I pay with paypal?
|
Paypal
Hey Trench,
Yes of course, I think paypal is the preferred payment method. :D I just thought I'd also answer the question about fees, as well. :) |
It would be a nice addition if Google Checkout was also an option. ;)
I think it is free to set it up. |
Google checkout
I think Scott mentioned something about Google, us being added to the search engine or something to that effect, so i'll mention this to him and see what he says. :D
Thanks for the suggestion Goldbug. Have you all signed up yet? :p |
I just wanted to drop in and say hello. Bid4figures is slowly getting people. As with anything, there have been a couple hiccups here and there (mainly with email being sent improperly), but as a whole, I am happy with it. I am working on the hiccups as quickly as possible.
Urban Saboteur had sent me an email about google checkout. Sadly, this is a costly feature it seems. :/ In order to have it, the site will have to pay for x amount of advertising per month or pay $0.02 plus 2% of every transaction, and this of course would prevent the site from remaining free. Beyond that, the version of the software the site is using does not allow for easy integration. Yeah, they did this on purpose to get you to buy the uber expensive software. So, for now, I do not see any way to integrate a checkout/payment portal. Anyway, thanks everybody for the interest. I am hoping this will turn into something good for action figure collectors. I know I wasn't loving the sick amount of money I had to give ebay and paypal whenever I put a round of stuff up for sale, and I loved having to take paypal only even less. |

Hmmm eCrater has it integrated & they are a free site. The 2 cents + 2% is what gets taken out if someone pays me(a user) with it. Or I can advertise with Google & get free transactions. |
The way I read it is if you pay for ads through google, you can get up to 10% of what you spend free with checkout. Now, I could be wrong, but the way it sounded, if I try to integrate it into the site, which is a task beyond my ability without paying, then I am responsible for the payment. hmmmm
|
I just registered also. I can't wait for it to take off.
|
Maybe a stupid question, but can you sell/buy vehicles, too? I'd like to help get this website out there, as a LOT of people are bummed with the 'Bay.

You can sell A-Team, Action Man, GIJOE. Star Wars, Transformers. pretty much anything as long as its to do with Action Figures/Toys collectables. The site owner who set it up is cool and very flexible. He's offered people the chance to buy and sell for free.. something ebay cannot match. :D People need to give this a chance really for it to take off. |
