Individual Personalities

Does your COBRA Legions have personalities?

I mean, TroopsofDoom sorta brought that in my head with his website.'

My CG Has a complete Background and name to boot

General Fred Jaegar.

So, does anyone else give troops names, backgrounds, etc?

neapolitan joe 07-29-2008 12:31 PM

Cobra ARMY!

Only part of my Cobra agents or Troopers http://www.joedios.com/dioramas/sho...r&imageuser=444 have a background life and story.
Some B.A.T.s or Swamp rats are poor Cobra volunteer dead in action (like Robocop) and transformed in monsters by Mindbender, Interrogator, Scalpel and Crystal Ball..
In my Joeverse 1990 Night Creeper is Plague Trooper Aleph (INCISOR) and 2008 v. 28 Armored Cobra Commander is FRED 7.

lehsreh 07-29-2008 12:33 PM

everyone has a distant personality, even if their the same kind of troops. example, i have two snow serpents who are comedic, biggs and wedge. the CG in my a country boy can survive dio had his very own personality, so too did the frag viper who was always wanting to kill.

at the same time, there is a predisposed attitude for each troop type. take the dreadnoks for example. their mean, dirty and stupid for the most part. CG's would be considered the classy people, or at least well educated and more articulate.

I only buy one version of a figure so every Cobra is an individual.

its nice to know i wasnt the only one who only bought one of each and not tons.. 1 of each was all i ever bought, until i came here to joedios. i saw what everyone else had and although i will never go as far as they, i do try to get 4 or 5 of each army builder now.

I did that too until I notice how cool an army looks. :o

Agent Viper 07-29-2008 01:39 PM

Armies do look cool, just too much.

troopsofdoom 07-29-2008 01:44 PM

I have nothing against army building. The photos that have a whole platoon of Night Vipers or others always look great. Makes me jealous too.

It's a limited budget thing for me. I could buy twenty Vipers or a bunch of different figures instead. Variety is the better option.

I do the same here. I try to have 4 of the troops I think are the best and 1 squad leader. Ex:
4 Jungle Viperes from 2002 and 1 Urzor as their squad leader;
4 COBRA C.L.A.W.S. and 1 C.L.A.W.S. Commander.

I pick the ones I think are the best army build, or at least I try to, number of 4 more squad leader. It give you chance to create a background for your troops.

Exactly.

Agent Viper 07-29-2008 04:15 PM

Well, here is my personalities so far

General Fred Jaegar

Once the main leader of the COBRA Legion Officers Fred was handpicked by COBRA Commander as a secret project that came to be known as Operation Fred. COBRA Scientists were able to get Sperm Cells from Fred and produce clones of Fred. Fred was also the first to wear the Crimson Uniform.

He also serves as Serpentors Body Guard (commander died)

FRED II, VII, VIII, LXV: all with an hard life!

ender098 07-30-2008 12:47 AM

Some of my Cobra Troopers have distinct Personalities. For Example, my Night Vulture is an assassin working for Cobra who is ruthless in the vein of Firefly. My Red Sand Viper is the Sand Viper Leader (I have yet to give him a name!) and another in the ranks of the truely ruthless.

Some Cobra's I'll give names (Chuck, Larry etc) but that's just to put a human face on them under those Viper helmets. But usually, 3-4 pages later they're TOAST!

Sonneilon 07-30-2008 11:00 PM

Nope.

Everyone's seen how my stories operate. I enjoy creating personalities for the characters, but I can't do that for army builders. Cuz then I'll want to go in and add lil distinctive features so I know which one is Harry, Fred, Dave and Chuck, y'know? I'm anal, but I'm not willing to be that anal. I WILL give names to army builders in the stories but they don't mean much. I tend to give board members a cameo in my stories. Drew Swenson (Recondo from JoeSightings/JBL), Frank Nash (Ender098) & Shane McMahon (sorry, forgot the last name, LORD RAVEN) show up as Vipers. Luis (ToneGuns) ended up as a blueshirt. Funny, all the bros from the board show up as bad guys.

The Greenshirt side, I just pick random names that usually end up hispanic in origin. *shrug*

Of course, sometimes I throw in certain names just to see if anyone catches who I'm referencing.

Shane "Lord Raven" Welin.

And it is nice to see your name on someone elses blueshirt, even if you know that your abilities are more for a highly trained killer Nite-Viper :D.

wildbill73 08-02-2008 04:22 PM

some troops i use of higher rank I do I use general blitz From SS line as a Crimson gueard general.. only a few see him and he reports to CC and no one else.. Stupid maybe But I like the idea lol

GoCards 08-02-2008 10:43 PM

This was something I did when I was a kid, mainly because I only had one or two army builder type figures. The Joes had their own personalities. I do find myself doing this from time to time.
