Hasbro-Latest Round of Q & A !!
We're coming to that time again folks!!
Post up your questions..........the five best, most diverse, constructive questions will be sent along for an answer. And yes, I know........those of you who 'bash' the line..........will post up some lame@$$ed questions..........don't be surprised if they DON'T make the list...... ;) :D |
OK Here's a few:
1. Since your making Cartoon Versions of certain characters, does this mean will be seeing figures packed with a cartoon DVD? 2. Will we be seeing a DDP version of Joe Colton in the 25th line of figures? 3. How involved is Larry Hama in the New G.I. JOE Movie? 4. When will we start seeing the 25th line vehicles hit the stores? 5. How do you pick which figure gets made for the 25th line? |
Will the Target Exclusive vehicles (and any possible future releases) have retooled footpegs to fit the smaller peg holes of the new figures?
While we understand the reasoning for having the "iconic" characters (Snake-eyes, Cobra Commander, Duke) on shelves, will any of the more prolific characters be getting a "rest" similar to what was done with Duke near the end of the 8" line? |
how can i find the last q an a thread so i can find my questions again?
|
-Are there plans for "themed" 5-packs akin to the 6-packs of yesteryear that included the Plague vs Steel Brigade and the Joe Colton themes?
-When the 25A is done, are there plans to move GI Joe ahead? ie: will we see the rest of the Plague? -Are there ANY plans to release a 5-pack that has, perhaps; 1 Cobra Officer and 4 Cobra Troopers (w/ red symboled chest and black gear)???? |
(1)after the movie toys die down, will you revert back to the 25th line of action figures and continue going through the line making the other figures?
(2)is there any chance that you will make the 25th figures easier to customize with the old joe figures? (3) will there be wal-mart exclusives? (4) what are the chance that you will answer all this questions this round with anything other then, "we have no plans as of now" or, "we will wait and see" or, "we will pass it on"? |
1) Is Gungho going to be in the new movie?
|
How much longer are we going to have to put up with Hasbro throwing out so many different versions of the same characters like Snake Eyes, Duke, Cobra Commander, etc.
|
Are there any plans to release GI Joe toys outside the US?
Will the movie toys be done in the same style as the 25th line, classic 3.75" (o-ring) or something different entirely? Is there any possibility of seeing GI Joe Transformers (ideally as 3.75"-scale vehicles, or at least to scale with the Star Wars Transformers)? You're going to continue with 25th style figures until such a time that the line ends rather than ever go back to o-ring construction, right? --Guess which one I'm not expecting to be put forward... :P |

ok, this question really needs to be asked. last time we were supposed to vote on the questions, if we did, we didnt vote on anything worth asking. everyone, even 25th haters should be wondering what the movie line will be like. only bad thing about this one, i think they will say, "well have to wait and see or no plans are made as of now" |

This has already been asked and answered in both the Q&A and at the con I believe. From what's been stated, the current style of figure is THE style of figure for future releases, movie or otherwise. |
Actually the last go round........the majority of the questions were either p*sspoor or sarcastic or had already been asked and answered (as Mysterious Stranger has stated)...........
So, questions were sent that would at least NOT make us look like we were the 'red-headed stepchild' of the Joe boards........... ;) |
Are Ace and any Cobra pilots going to be in the Movie?
|
I have one
Why do the 25th Anniversary Scarlett, Baroness, Roadblock, and Destro not have the double knee articulation that the rest have?
|
Any plans for a playset for the 25th Anniversary figure, now that you've seen how well the line has done?
Are there more vehicles coming after the initial assortment? |
how about asking if they plan on bringing any other old lines back in the 3 3/4 size. over on hisstank weve been talking about other lines we would want in the 3 3/4. who wouldnt want mask?
|
1. Will you release 3 3/4 arah style new mold figures?
2. will u realease a 25th Slaugther? |
Any Plans For Other Vehicles And Or Playsets For 25a Or For The Movie?
|
Rambo. Sgt Slaughter is owned by another property, one which Hasbro can't use.
|
Will we ever see any old sculpt figures again, be they online or retail exclusives?
|
I'm going to go with guiltridden here, also wounder if we are EVER going to see the rest of the big bad snake Joes (Plague troopers)
|
When people have asked about old-style/o-ring figures before, Hasbro just says the Collectors Club will continue to do them. As if that's a viable financial alternative for everyone...
|
NO KIDDING STORMER  I WILL BE PLACING AN ORDER FOR SOME CONVENTION AND CLUB EXCLUSIVES AS SOON AS MY INCOMETAX CHECK ARRIVES ( I DESERVE IT :D ) TO THE TOON OF $1,1175.00 THAT SHOULD HOLD ME OFF FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR... OR TILL THE CONVENTION :o
|
i dont have the $$ for the collectors club right now.

Hasbro Questions
1. Vehicles and Playsets - what plans are afoot in this regard. Are there more RAH 80's vehicles coming, or any plans to remake from new molds any classic vehicles or playsets?
2. Figures - can we expect to see any more 82-87 figures such as Clutch, Mainframe, Dialtone, Lifeline, Steeler etc etc.. or is the plan to move on into the later 80's and 90's? 3. Sgt Slaughter - why no slaughter? Can you confirm that you do not hold the rights in their entirety to make this figure? Can you acquire the rights or is this a dead issue? |
If its not too late I'd like to add one more question.
We've gotten Stalker, Breaker, Scarlett, Snake-eyes, Hawk, Rock 'n' Roll and Grunt (coming soon) so will we see the rest of the "Original 13" released in 25th style? |
Hasbro Q & A Questions
1. Are the remainder of the original 13 slated for release in any format, whether it be a single, comic, or multi-pack?
2. Will any future characters have to be renamed or identified by their specialties or file names in order to bypass any copyright laws so they can see release? 3. Are the main Marvel comics the only Joe publishings slated for 2-pack treatment? I'd like to see some characters from some of the other books that have been released, like Frontline, America's Elite, "Declassified"s, either Special missions series, Master & Apprentice, or any of the newer story arcs from other publishers (the Joe/Transformer crossovers may be a bit of a stretch, but I'll mention those too). 4. What are the chances of seeing larger playsets (Terror Drome, Flagg, etc.) or vehicles (including fighter planes) being released for this line or the movie line? 5. Will the latest and future merchandise offerings be readily available (barring any distribution issues) at all of the stores currently carrying your merchandise, as well as HasbroToyShop.Com? |
Ok, here's a listing of the current questions posed for this round. Note that the questions which already have answers are in 'Navy/Red'.
Questions that are up for consideration are in 'Orange'. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since your making Cartoon Versions of certain characters, does this mean will be seeing figures packed with a cartoon DVD? See this link from JoeBattlelines: http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/vi...php?f=86&t=4316 Will we be seeing a DDP version of Joe Colton in the 25th line of figures? Since DDP has lost the rights, this one will most likely be a moot question to ask at this stage How involved is Larry Hama in the New G.I. JOE Movie? See this link from JoeBattlelines: http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/vi...php?f=63&t=3886 -When will we start seeing the 25th line vehicles hit the stores? -How do you pick which figure gets made for the 25th line? -Will the Target Exclusive vehicles (and any possible future releases) have retooled footpegs to fit the smaller peg holes of the new figures? -While we understand the reasoning for having the "iconic" characters (Snake-eyes, Cobra Commander, Duke) on shelves, will any of the more prolific characters be getting a "rest" similar to what was done with Duke near the end of the 8" line? -Are there plans for "themed" 5-packs akin to the 6-packs of yesteryear that included the Plague vs Steel Brigade and the Joe Colton themes? See this link from JoeBattlelines: http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/vi...php?f=86&t=4316 -When the 25A is done, are there plans to move GI Joe ahead? ie: will we see the rest of the Plague? As of right now, good money's on the fact that they are just churning out figures and the like in a ramp up for the movie. Unless they plan on '25th-ing' the Plague storyline...... -Are there ANY plans to release a 5-pack that has, perhaps; 1 Cobra Officer and 4 Cobra Troopers (w/ red symboled chest and black gear)???? after the movie toys die down, will you revert back to the 25th line of action figures and continue going through the line making the other figures? This question will be tabled for future use is there any chance that you will make the 25th figures easier to customize with the old joe figures? Come on, we know that this isn't going to happen will there be wal-mart exclusives? what are the chance that you will answer all this questions this round with anything other then, "we have no plans as of now" or, "we will wait and see" or, "we will pass it on"? This is redundant. Is Gungho going to be in the new movie? See this sub-section of JoeBattlelines http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=63 How much longer are we going to have to put up with Hasbro throwing out so many different versions of the same characters like Snake Eyes, Duke, Cobra Commander, etc. Come on now, we all know the answer to this one..... Are there any plans to release GI Joe toys outside the US? Will the movie toys be done in the same style as the 25th line, classic 3.75" (o-ring) or something different entirely? We know that the 25th line is THE design that Hasbro is using Is there any possibility of seeing GI Joe Transformers (ideally as 3.75"-scale vehicles, or at least to scale with the Star Wars Transformers)? You're going to continue with 25th style figures until such a time that the line ends rather than ever go back to o-ring construction, right? You answered your own question Are Ace and any Cobra pilots going to be in the Movie? I'd stay current with this sub-section of JoeBattlelines: http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=63 Why do the 25th Anniversary Scarlett, Baroness, Roadblock, and Destro not have the double knee articulation that the rest have? This is most likely due to the die molds Any plans for a playset for the 25th Anniversary figure, now that you've seen how well the line has done? See this link from JoeBattlelines: http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/vi...php?f=86&t=4316 Are there more vehicles coming after the initial assortment? Considering the 'ramping up' that's being brought forth with the movie coming up, this is most likely a given. Vehicles and Playsets - what plans are afoot in this regard. Are there more RAH 80's vehicles coming, or any plans to remake from new molds any classic vehicles or playsets? See this link from JoeBattlelines: http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/vi...php?f=86&t=4316 Figures - can we expect to see any more 82-87 figures such as Clutch, Mainframe, Dialtone, Lifeline, Steeler etc etc.. or is the plan to move on into the later 80's and 90's? Sgt Slaughter - why no slaughter? Can you confirm that you do not hold the rights in their entirety to make this figure? Can you acquire the rights or is this a dead issue? Licensing and copyrighting are long and often drawn out procedures. Time will tell -We've gotten Stalker, Breaker, Scarlett, Snake-eyes, Hawk, Rock 'n' Roll and Grunt (coming soon) so will we see the rest of the "Original 13" released in 25th style? 1. Are the remainder of the original 13 slated for release in any format, whether it be a single, comic, or multi-pack? These 2 are the same question, essentially. See this sub-forum from JoeBattlelines: http://joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=86 Will any future characters have to be renamed or identified by their specialties or file names in order to bypass any copyright laws so they can see release? Are the main Marvel comics the only Joe publishings slated for 2-pack treatment? I'd like to see some characters from some of the other books that have been released, like Frontline, America's Elite, "Declassified"s, either Special missions series, Master & Apprentice, or any of the newer story arcs from other publishers (the Joe/Transformer crossovers may be a bit of a stretch, but I'll mention those too). What are the chances of seeing larger playsets (Terror Drome, Flagg, etc.) or vehicles (including fighter planes) being released for this line or the movie line? Let's see how the current set of playsets/vehicles go over. Will the latest and future merchandise offerings be readily available (barring any distribution issues) at all of the stores currently carrying your merchandise, as well as HasbroToyShop.Com |
doesn't really answer my question but never mind
|
Thanks for doing all that footwork, GS. That's a LOT of researching!
|
I think asking about a DDP-style Joe Colton (or anyone else) is a perfectly valid question, and helps Hasbro to see that there is an interest in characters & designs outside the Sunbow cartoon. You can't really dismiss it saying that DDP doesn't have the comics license any more, since Marvel hasn't had it either for over 10 years but they're still basing figures on those stories...!

q&A HASBRO
will there be 25tha Iron grenadiers and when
|
Do you know (hasbro) that the O-ring buyers are disapointed with you?
Any Helicopter plans? Eventually you will run off main characters. What will you do then? |
Will upcoming vehicles and figures stay "realistic" looking or are there plans to make stuff with neon colors?
Any chance to get the comic 2pack Scarface AK-47 with future Cobra trooper releases? Will you please re-release some awesome vehicles like the WHALE hovercraft, the Warthog APC and the Cobra Hydrofoil? |
At the risk of sounding sarcastic, after reading Hasbro's replies, I wonder why we even write them anymore. It's like most of their answers are "We'll see", "There are no plans for that right now" or some other ambigious answer. Especially when it comes to the answers that detracters (READ;HATERS) of the 25th ask. In the old days, retailers were like Execs, they would give you straight answers, like "yes" and "no". These guys have become politicians. Why don't they just say "Unless TRU, Target or Walmart says ok, we're not gonna listen to you!"
It's like they're saying to us "No, there are absolutley no plans to go back to the classic line you spent thousands of dollars on, but we're hoiping our ambigious answers will keep your hopes up until you lose all hope in O rings and the like and convert to our new line. So, throw out that multi-million dollar uncompatible collection and start again because our new execs need Jaguars and Lexus just like the guys who kicked it in the '80's!" I'm not gonna TOTALLY diss the 25th. I bought a few and I will still pick and chose a few if they look good enough or are new figures, but I'm NOT gonna start over. I'll wait for Con sets, over priced DTC wave four from MC and I guess buy DTC repaints from the Hulk collection! Here's one; Will hasbro use old DTC or VvsV molds for other toy lines like they did for "The Hulk"? |

Exactly why I don't bother, Frank. |
No more question until o-rings return.
|
guys o-rings are not coming back...ever,Hasbro is happy with the way these figures are selling and from what everything i've heard or read they have no plans of bringing it back, come on lets focus on some real questions and stop asking if they're gonna bring back the o-ring
|
Ok gang.....the questions have been sent.
Questions were chosen based on their uniqueness-so as not to get the same questions answered that are sent from other boards. Here are the questions that have been sent: 1) Will we be seeing a DDP version of Joe Colton in the 25th line of figures? 2) How do you pick which figure gets made for the 25th line? 3) Are the main Marvel comics the only Joe publishings slated for 2-pack treatment? I'd like to see some characters from some of the other books that have been released, like Frontline, America's Elite, "Declassified"s, either Special missions series, Master & Apprentice, or any of the newer story arcs from other publishers (the Joe/Transformer crossovers may be a bit of a stretch, but I'll mention those too). 4) Will hasbro use old DTC or VvsV molds for other toy lines like they did for "The Hulk"? 5) What are the chances of seeing larger playsets (Terror Drome, Flagg, etc.) or vehicles (including fighter planes) being released for this line or the movie line? Once the answers have been sent to me, I'll post them up. Along with the answers to any of the other questions posted by members that have been answered by any of the other Joe Boards. If anyone sees any answers on those boards that they think would be helpful to the members here at JoeDios......copy and paste them up in this thread......just be sure to tell us which board you got them from!! |
