Seems like the Target Range fills up pretty darn quick these days. I figured I'd jump on since most of the people have never seen me participate. I usually like to save room for anyone who wants to try it out. I remember the days when I'd have to IM people to do it! GIJock, Outrider, ToneGuns, Ender, LordRaven, etc. I'm glad that it's really picked up steam.

Just in case anybody is interested, I originally came up with this idea some time ago. I thought it'd be fun to showcase figures, be it new or old to see if they can withstand time. Does that old Cross Country look as good as he did when we were kids? When it first started, I had to IM people to sign up. GIJock. Outrider. LordRaven. Ender098. ToneGuns. THose names come to mind as well as a few others who aren't really around anymore.

The Comic Box was my idea too. Being a JBL-frequenter, I noticed that they always cover the latest stuff, but what about the 155 issues BEFORE Devils Due? Do those stories still work NOW or are they conditional on the era?

Now, the whole WEEKEND THEME idea... A bunch of us wanted to come up with a group project for JoeDios. To get a project where EVERYONE can join in easily. This was TONEGUNS idea and it was HIS idea that Cobra Commander should be the 1st theme week. For some time, we ran votes on what we wanted. Sure, I took note of what people wanted, but when we ran dry, I came up with ideas and let people vote. Or someone else would come up with 3 ideas and members would vote. It did go away for awhile, but with all the new folks, LordRaven helped bring it back. A lot of what happened at JoeDios... There were a lot of ideas on how to fun, but nobody would write it up and post it to make it official. For that 1st Theme Week(end), I simply wrote it up 2 weeks in advance so I could make sure people had a full week to get their pictures done. And I believe I gave it 3 days. My belief was, if you saw something absolutely awesome, it'd cause 'you' to run out and shoot. Certainly, Outrider's shots have ALWAYS given people inspiration.

It was seeing the Theme Weeks, and then working out what Target Range was all about, during my lurker days that got me to take the plunge and sign up -- I kept seeing the theme pics (usually after the weekend until I started reading the forum more closely) and thinking of what I would have done...!

Nowadays I barely post anything outside the Target Range (so I try to make sure I'm at least signed up for that) and Weekend Warriors (if I don't make excuses like bad weather or watching Stargate or something...) so I like that we have something to provide a creative spark if our own ideas run dry. It's great that TR has become so popular. It runs the risk of repeating figures sooner, but how's about trying a Mon-Wed-Fri schedule? Maybe cut it back to one figure per go? It may end up requiring someone to take a couple of slots but it'd give more members a chance to join in. I know Feb. is a short month but it does seem to fill up pretty quickly these days anyway!

I know I've not actually got around to taking any pics, but I've liked the last couple of Weekend Warriors themes. Is there a list of themes waiting to be used, or have you been coming up with them at the time, Pru? In either case, we could all pitch in some ideas; doesn't even have to be a vote, just get around to each in turn and let admin decide which gets used each week? Could give us all a bit more planning time leading up to the weekend, which I know I need as much of as possible these days to get me stoked about an idea...!

It would probably warrant its own thread, but a theme idea I've had rattling around for a while is "Prison Break" -- inspired by the recent-ish "Back In Black" which was the name of a story-arc in Spider-Man comics. It made me look at other story titles from comics, TV, etc, and think about which ones could offer up possibilities for GI Joe scenarios...

Well, off to take my Target Range pics for tomorrow...!

See what I get for just checking the photos section and not the board yesterday? Oh well. I'll try to be more vigilant next time.

Glad you like them..........I don't mind being the one who 'minds the store'.........and makes sure that things run smoothly.....

I'll take it under consideration on the thoughts presented here.......and we'll see where it goes!

EVERYONE can come up with ideas for the WeekendWarriors!!! Please PM or even post them so GS can take a look at 'em and see what is neat. I'm sure GS has found that it's gets difficult trying to come up with ideas each week. I know I ran out pretty quickly!

I came to do a "caption this photo" this evening.. my camera is broken :(
I'd actually spoken to G.I.Jock & Stormer about this a few weeks back and my fears of it being on it's last legs were confirmed tonight.

This actually puts my february the 14th slot under threat. I don't have the cash to buy my intended replacement until next Saturday, i'll probably be about a full week and a half behind before i receive my replacement. :o

I can only ask or suggest someone switch with me and i'll do a later date.. or maybe someone can come up with a suitable valentines replacement between now and the next 4 days and replace my slot completely.?

I do have a camera phone on my Motorola RAZR v3i, and i could submit my entry using this as an alternative.

Just to confirm my camera isn't charging the single lithium battery. It's not powering on or charging at all. :(
