What're your top 5 favorite Army Builders???
I use this expression a lot "one of my top five favorite army builders", so I figured it best to finally do roll call. Also I wanna here what your's are!!!
1) Crimson Guard ('85) 2) Snow Serpents ('85) 3) Eels ('85) 4) Iron Grenadiers ('88) 5) Night Vipers ('89) A close #6 would be Tele-Vipers, as I really like that figure as a kid, and every army needs Tele-Communications. |
1. 82-83 Cobra Troopers
2. 82-83 Cobra Officers 3. 1986 Viper 4. 1985 Crimson Guard 5. 1985 Snow Serpents |
I come from the new age era therefore...
VvV Vipers (red/purple) NeoVipers (blue) Cobra Troopers (25thA or DTC) Crimson Guards (any era) SandVipers (1st 2 editions...) |
1)Vipers-'86 or 'Viper Pit' version
2)Snow Serpents-'85 3)Night Stalkers 4)Crimson Guards-TRU 6 Pack 5)Iron Grenadiers |
Just five? Oooh, that's gonna be tough. Anyway, here goes....
1. Night Vipers (1989) 2. Snow Serpents (1985) 3. Eels (1985) 4. Alley Vipers (the blue urban cam version from 2002) 5. Shock Vipers (blue version) Honourable mention: Laser Vipers (2001) There are soooo many more I could have listed.....army building is just so much fun! :D |
ANY VERSIONS IS HOW I'LL LIST MINE :p
1. COBRA TROOPERS (CLASSIC) 2. VIPERS (BEST GRUNTS ON THE FIELD) 3. CRIMSON GUARDS (ELITE GUARDS) 4. IRON GRENADIERS (JUST PLAIN AWSOME) 5. NIGHT VIPERS (THIS WOULD BE #1 IF I HAD ANY :D ) |
I'm not really a big fan of all the Viper special corps, so I'll go with these simple ones:
1. Cobra Troopers (preferrably the TRU Infantry Pack versions) 2. Cobra Officers (also the TRU ones) 3. Vipers (TRU Viper Pit versions, only because I've never owned the '86 one) 4. Red Ninjas (TRU Cobra Ninja Clan versions) 5. Night Creepers (original 1991 versions) |
DAMB I FORGOT ABOUT NIGH CREEPERS
|

Yeah, me too!!!! I knew I shoulda made it top ten!!!!!!!!!! |
snow serpents
CG's B.A.T.s vipers night vipers |
Wow, hard to choose just 5. Here goes (in no particular order)
1. v1 Iron Grenader 2. 2001 "laser" Viper 3. v1 Night Viper 4. v1 Shock Viper 5. v1 and v2 Headhunter. |
In no particular order,
Alley Viper, the blue one from 2002; Blueshirts; Neo - Vipers blue version; Eels v1; SAW Vipers v1. |
No particular order:
Iron Grenadiers (v1, although I do like the new-sculpt ones as well) Red Ninja (TRU 6-pack) BATs (Internet-exclusive 6-pack) Alley Viper v2 (yellow & black) VvV Viper (v2, in the classic blue & red) Wow, that was difficult. Ask me again another day and I might say something else instead of that VvV Viper...! |
for me
viper v1 B.A.T 6 pack neo viper T.A.R.G.A.T night viper |
25th Ann. Cobra Troopers
25th Ann. Cobra Officers VvV wave 7 Vipers Viper Pit Vipers DTC Snow Serpents These are my favorites right now. I love the original stuff too like V1 Troopers, Officers, Vipers, CG's, etc. but they are way too expensive to army build like you can do with the newer stuff. |
Anything crimson
Anything IG Any original sculpt Vipers Cobra Officers/Soldiers (Original) Steel Brigade (All versions) D :D |
My faves:
1) Crimson Guardsman: they just look cool! Especially the new sculpts witht he removable helmets! 2) Iron Grenaders, V.1: another cool figure 3) Green Shirts: at last some joe "Bullet Stoppers"! 4) Alley Vipers (both Versions): Acide from the silly colors, the shields and guns looked cool. 5) Bats (the ones based off Sigma Six) are the coolest, and witht he six pack, you could make an army with a few packs. |
1 - Motor Vipers
2 - Alley Vipers 3 - Night Vpers 4 - BATS 5 - Viper ('86 & Pit) |
Here's mine with no particular order too:
*Crimson guards (operation crimson sabotage) *Cobra infantry forces 2004 6 pack *Cobra night watch 6 pack *Cobra vipers (viper pit version) *Alley vipers (2002 blue and black version) |
This is very hard sice it changes all the time for me. Right now its Range vipers but my top 5 favorite are
#1 Crimson Guard(85) (need more) #2 Range Vipers(90) #3 Vipers(86) (I'm all set with them) #4 Eels(85) (wouldn't mind getting a few more) #5 Alley Vipers(89) (just a couple more and i'd be set) Cobra Freak :D |
This is tough. Back in the day I couldn't afford to army build. But by the time Iron Grenadier version 1 came out, I had a job. I ended up with 4! Woohoo! Otherwise only 1 or sometimes 2 of any figure. Although, there are many I would like to have more of.
I did end up with 2 Viper Pit packs (12 total dudes), but then realized they needed surgery to be used properly. That is the most of any figure I have. I like small squads, as I only have two hands and the square footage to get a detailed shot rarely requires more than that, for my purposes. Besides, when I need to see a cool army entourage photo, I come here and get my fix!! |
Excellent ? Prince Adam!
C.) 1985 Snow Serpents - so versatile and bad a$$
O.) 1983 Cobra Troopers - The knee pads, piano wire, the face of Cobra B.) 1984 Stinger Drivers - my favorite "faceless" I love the Stingers, & that Gray! R.) 1985 Eels - Fill up a Moray, Night Landing, Hydrosled, whatever else! A.) 1985 Tele-Vipers - because someone has to unplug, wait 30 seconds, and plug the terrorist network back in. I leave off the CGs, cuz I'd only want 7 (to do the Freds) and not a whole army - plus they are suppose to be ELITE. I leave off Night Vipers because it is only top 5 and besides, I picture them being efficient as a small sabatoge in-n-out unit led by Firefly, so again - not a huge need for a whole Army. I leave off Vipers because (and please hold the pitch-forks, torches, and rocks) I never really dug them - to me they sort of bumped the poor blue-shirts out of a job and I always thought only HIGH COMMAND should cover their eyes, not the grunts too. Probably just made about 76 enemies by saying that... Different strokes for different folks I guess? :) |
1. Blue Shirts
2. Vipers 3. Shock Vipers 4. Hazard Vipers 5. BATS |
Vipers
B.a.ts Cobra Troopers Roc Elite vipers Roc Desert vipers Greenshirts |
BATS
Vipers CG's Blueshirts Snow Serpents And my general rule of thumb is 6 of every trooper kind...IF I can find them...IF I can afford them...IF I like them. |
Iron Grenadiers (25th Anni)
Iron Grenadiers (30th Anni) RoC Neos RoC Ice Vipers Hulkbuster troopers (the ones that look like urban Steel Brigade) |

I'm so new to Joes, but for me by purely looking at the numbers.
Desert Ambush torso with POC Jungle Duke Legs. Renegades Duke POC Beachead Shock Troopers POC Dusty Just starting to get into Cobra figs and building teams, but so far they are spec op teams with little cohesion. The newest Vipers and Troopers will probably be next. Also the ne Stalker is looking good for a builder also with a realistic cammo. I do like the New Steel Brigade, but the giz colored shirts go a custom lightened OD Green for me. |
POC Duke in desert gear
Cobra trooper Viper |
I wonder if we should start one where people can list their ANTI army builders...aka named figures that you have LOTS of the same body/mold....
I know someone on JoeCustoms that Army builds Crystal Balls, one does Mindbenders, even one that does the USS Flagg  .... and see if anyone on this board does that sort of thing as well... |
Quote:
Does he use the Mindbenders as an army of scientists or do they get a different PMS once they become "bulk"? |
Quote:
He acutally uses the heads mostly or the bodies and makes clones of Mindbender with different Cobra/Joes dna mixed in.. quite funny the way he does it. Or they are just solid clones of Mindbender himself... As he's shown he's so FULL of himself...(Mindbender that is) that he makes clones of himself to surrounded by himself.. |
Quote:
Yeah - I prefered Dr. Venom to Dr. Mindbender, as he was more e-vil, than e-go... ;) |
