Howdy Y'all. My name is David Jones (Yarrrrr) I live in southern Utah and my joe collecting is pretty much the same as snakeeater. I stopped collecting in about 1990 and didn't start again until 2001 with the RAH collection. then I left home for a couple of years and then I came back to go to college where I met my wife who had already graduated and now I am on the wife scholarship. :D I got back into collecting when my mom got me a v1 stormshadow with a full cardback for Christmas and I've been going ever since. Lately I have been trying to get into collecting G1 transformers as well and fixing up my old figures like devastator. Interesting story, I was helping my mom go through a closet with some old boxes and I foung the complete Voltron Lion foce mint in the package, all five lions, so needless to say I achieved another childhood goal. My major in college is Information Systems with an Emphasis in Network Administration. I should graduate next year unless the department chair tries to pooch me. I love playing american football as well as the real football.
Favorite Joe: Good question Favorite Cobra: V1 Viper Favorite Food: My wifes Spagetti & home made meatballs Favorite Drink: Jones Cream Soda Favorite TV Show: The Office Favorite Movie: I am anticipating that is will be the new Transformers movie, but I'll let you know after I see is tonight. Favorite Color: Blue Favorite Music: Classic Rock Rock On!! |

Uhm. Dude? The Viper GTS-R is made by Dodge... which is owned by Chrysler, not GM. As for HSV... no idea what that is. |
Quote:
Lol Yup the Dodge is made by Daimler/Chrysler... But those guys have nothing to do with this beast... Good job too, as they'd only ruin it... I'm not surprised your confused Jay... They aren't for sale in America/Canada... At least not yet... But I think they will be soon enough... Kinda strange That GM are sourcing cars from Europe and Oz now. The Saturn Astra and Pontiac GTO being examples. It should be noted that the most recent GTO was an HSV rebadged as a Pontiac. It had a few cosmetic changes here and there from the version that was sold in the UK and Outrider's part of the world. But nothing drastic. Anyway... As for the GTS-R? The Viper has nothing on this limited edition HSV. Although the cars name is not officially known, it's thought to be "GTS-R" or possibly "GTS-R 427" ;) Basically it's a super saloon with the 7.0 litre engine and gearbox from the current 'Vette. The bad news is we have to wait until October for it. It may well never make it to your part of the world or the UK! That's a bugger... If your interested... www.hsv.com.au You won't see any Dodge's there ;) However, last time I checked, there was no word on the website. Not yet anyway... They are building this thing to celebrate HSV's 20th Anniversary. Whether it's to you tastes Jay, I don't know mate... But as a concept, It's very respectable, especially since it will be a lot cheaper than an M5. :p Note to Craig: Buy one! I know "I just want one" ;) Dave :D |
Um, yeah. Except that anywhere else in the world, the GTS-R refers to this:
http://www.popularmechanics.com/aut...ts/1268896.html |
Quote:
Yeah I know the heap you're talking about, went like stink in GT3 though. ;) HSV has had a GTS-R model off and on for at least 11 years... Maybe longer. Whats in a name anyway? At least the HSV will be... less ugly than the viper? :) D :D |
Are we done?
Are we done squabbling over micro machine cars now guys? :o
Perhaps we can get back to some introductions from current members.. Has recoil84 posted in yet? I don't think he has... lets here some more introductions!! :) And please if you have a picture of your ugly mug... POST IT!! I'm going to post mine later when I get back from MRI. ;) Rich |
I was right. Transformers is now my new favorite movie. It was awesome!!!

Introduction
Hi!
I'm Bartus. I'm from Peru, but currently living in Chile. I'm 32 yrs old, married with 2 kids (4 yrs and 1.5 yrs). My first Joes came in 1986, Scrap Iron and Ripcord. As a kid I never got any vehicle, only about 20 Joes. When I grew I sold my joes and kept 4 or 5 in a box. Many years later... in 1999... I rediscovered my interest in them, and started collecting (1st task: get the ones I had as a kid), and from them I kept increasing my collection, and started with similar 1/18 lines as well. One of the first things that came with me when I moved to Chile were all my figures, but unfortunately my vehicles and playsets remained in Peru... and now, each time I go there I return with a couple of boxes of vehicles... one day they will be all together again... I was amazed when I discovered the customizing and dios part of the hobby... but I didn't had the time to do it... now I have, and I will start posting some pics soon :) (I need to improve my photograph shooting and photoshop editing skills, and learning from your posts will be an important part of it) :) All the best! Bartus! |
Welcome to the forums.
Welcome to the forums Bartus!
I haven't managed photoshop so well either. Almost all of my photos are au naturale. :o It saves time in the photo editing section later ;) I hope you have a nice stay here! Rich |
Bartus, i didn't know that they had Jose were you are. wow, is there a lot different from the American version.
|
Well, yes, there were "Joses" (lol) down here. At that time(when I was a kid), all the ones I got were north american versions, but years later when I got back into joes, I found vehicle boxes in spanish, apparently made in Venezuela... in fact I have (sadly still in Peru) an X-30 box in spanish.
Unfortunately, right now, nobody imports joes, so I have to get mine from the US, which makes them more expensive (for example, my "HTS 75% sale" buy was for 70 USD, and besides that I have to pay extra 175 USD for freight and customs)... good thing is that they will be delivering them tomorrow. Bartus. |
RE: Welcome to the forums Bartus!
Hi Rich!
Thanks for the welcome! I totally agree with you that in some cases "au naturale" photos are better... I look forward to find a garden or forest where I can shoot some pics... if not I will have to stick to urban scenarios (or desert, which I think are easier to edit) :) Bartus. |
Hey there.
Hey there Bartus.
Your english is fantastic! I speak with some people on MSN from other countries too, and yes. Au Naturale is way better, I guess I'm for photo editing and effects, its just so pleasing to get a shot outdoors that you don't need to do much messing around with. Being from the UK we also have that import problem on Joes. Nobody (official) ships to the united kingdom either so usually we get a US Friend to help us out  Do you have a digital camera yet? Rich |
Thanks Rich :)
It's because I constantly deal with english speaking persons (due to my work). "Being from the UK we also have that import problem on Joes. Nobody (official) ships to the united kingdom either so usually we get a US Friend to help us out " Ahh... the old days when joes were all over the world... :( ... hope this new line goes well, enough to encourage some big chains to include some joes in their buying list... for example, last year Peru got Sigma 6 in Wong/Metro (kind of Wal-Mart), but no Dragonhawk... so there's a possibility... Yes, I have digital camera, my old but reliable Minolta Dimage Xt 3.2 MP. I haven't decided yet to replace it. Which reminds me I need a new battery for it... Bartus. |
Hey, Batus Whats Up? Flatline Throwing You A Shot To Welcome YOU TO The Forum The Photo Youve Posted Is Really Good Cant Wait To See More. :)
|
hay Bartus.
I'm bravo, nice to meet you, i saw your pic, wow, what kind of launcher did you use in that shot? |

What? Introductions? Oh, right, er, I guess it's time I introduced myself (now that this thread has been here for weeks).
My name is Ryan; I'm 22 and live in Austin, TX where I'm working for an environmental engineering firm. I have one semester left in civil engineering at the University of Texas here and I'm not sure what or where I'll be after that. I have a wonderful wife, Katherine, whom I married just over a month ago. I've been into Joe since I can remember; I believe my first figure was Recoil, given to me by my parents as a reward for doing something good (don't remember what). That began a long obsession with the toys that lasted until adolescence. My main memories of G.I. Joe are from 1988-90, so I have a huge soft spot for that entire era. Of course, eventually, I decided I was too "grown up" for them, so I tried to eschew anything that resembled "playing" with my Joes, but still couldn't bring myself to part with them. Sooner or later I grew up a little and realized I could have a lot of fun collecting as an adult hobby. My dad and I started to follow G.I. Joe developments and even went to the 1997 Convention in San Antonio (we lived in Houston). After that, we were pretty much hooked. I've been an avid collector ever since, with a few occasional hiatuses brought about by being busy with school or just moving into other things. In the past two years or so I've really jumped back into collecting with both feet and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I started taking photos of my Joes before finding this site, then lurked here for at least a year and was so inspired by the awesome stuff here that I started putting a lot of effort and (attempted) creativity into photographing my collection. I'm slowly building a section of my website for my collection (see link below); and I try to feature a lot of my best photos and customs there. I love the community on this site and am thrilled to have some people to share this awesome hobby with. Yo Joe! |
Congratulations,newlywed! :D

I'm Steve, from Bristol, England. I'm single father, with two boys aged 7 and 4. I was first introduced to Action Force in about 1980, and followed the line through the Red Shadow era, the Cobra era, all the way till about '88, when it was no longer 'cool' to buy toys. I do regret this now!
I briefly got back into collecting about 5 years ago, but didn't last long due to poor availability in UK. I stopped, and focussed on Transformers. But now with the 25th anniversary, and experience ordering overseas, I'm back with a vengeance! I currently don't have anything, but I have the 25th stuff on preorder, and should have it soon. From there I will expand! I prefer the vintage RAH molds over the newer JvC stuff, so will probably concentrate on that. |

Hi Bravo! It's the same model of the gray launcher that comes with Salvo (v2), but I can't remember which joe came with the green one :( Bartus. |

I've been a Joe fan since I was a kid, my dad is military so that helped fuel my love. I've been on the site a lil over a year now methinks, and have made some AWESOME friends here and had a good laugh with ya'll. My favorite movies are Star Wars, Aliens, Army Of Darkness, The Thing, Clerks, and anything with guns and war and to do with Vietnam. I love comics, music, movies, video games, just a lil bit of everything. I've got a dio perpetually on the development phase called "The Last Chance Squad" and the one I worked on with Frank (Ender098) called "Your Loving Son, Jim", which I think turned out pretty good. I know the gang here are great at helping new people out with thier photos, look at my old stuff and newer stuff....leaps and bounds. Have fun here people, that's the deal! Shane |

Hey ya!
I just found this thread and somehow I think it's the perfect place to introduce myself :). My name is Markus, I'm 28 years and I'm a GI Joe and Transformers collector almost from the start. I was a little bit too young to be there from the start but from around '86 I was into it. Most of the earlier figures where sold for a longer span so I could catch up anyway. Don't know if I'm the only one or did anyone else also realise that earlier figures were sold for around 4 years, even as newer waves were introduced but the later figures were mostly sold only for one year before they were already discontinued. Anyone know why? After reading all the introductions I can say I'm proud to be the first one from continental Europe. I'm from Vienna, Austria. The fine and beautiful capital of music. Everybody should visit this city at least once in a lifetime. I suggest you do it on your next vacation. I'm working in the computer department of a large wholesaler here in Austria. Favorite Joe: A draw between Flint and Falcon (Well after thinking about it for a few minutes I'm leaning more towards Flint, I like his perfect combination of bad ass attitude and commanding skills) Favorite Cobra: Serpentor (the Cobra Emperor himself, who else :) ) Favorite Food: Wiener Schnitzel!! (Viennese cutlet) (Don't know how to explain it, basically it's fried veal. It tastes great. You can't describe it. If you're interested have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiener_schnitzel From what I heard it's international and you can get one almost anywhere in the world. Favorite Drink: Beer!! (It's perfect to the Schnitzel) Favorite Game: Mortal Kombat (Yeahh!) Favorite Music: Techno, House, Hip-Hop Hobbies (besides GI Joe): My girlfriend ( ;) ), my car (complete with an immense sound system, spoiler, cool headlights) the car sometimes rival with my girlfriend about the number one position ;), hanging around with my friends in various clubs and discos at weekends, girls Personally speaking I'm an easy going and funny guy. I think you have to be serious the whole day at work, so why be it in your leisure time too? I'm also a great stand-up comedian, here are two of my momentarily favourites: Two toothpicks are climbing up a hill. Suddenly they're being overtaken by a hedgehog. Said one toothpick to the other: See, I knew there is a bus going up there. :) Three boys are playing in the garden, said the first one: My mum is so great she can take a whole roll in her mouth. Said the 2nd: Hah, that's nothing my mum can take half a sandwich in her mouth. Said the last one: Hah, my mum is even better than that. Last night I heard that my father said to my mother: Switch off the TV and take *him* into your mouth. :D (If this is too offending for anyone I apologise and will, of course, delete it immediately, but I find this joke absolutely hilarious and I think we're mature enough). So, that's it. Greetings from Vienna. |
This I command!!
Tell some more Jokes Mark.. This I command!! haha
Welcome to JoeDios. Btw not to throw you off so much but if your interested in GIJOE outside the USA and appreciate the GIJOES from the continent you should check out this place: GIJOEUK And that applies to any of you dudes that like the euro releases and Action Force International Heroes Line. I hope you enjoy yourself at JD Rich |
Newbie bombards the pictures!
Okay I'm done posting pictures for the evening. Time to introduce myself. I've been a long time GI Joe collector (since childhood with the original Joes) and truly enjoyed the "vintage" RAH line. I tried to get into the new 3 3/4" troops but interest faded with the various size inconsistencies. The second "new" version of Scarlett looked like the 1st "new" version's little sister! We'll see if I get back into them with the 25th Anniversary figures.
As far as new dios, most everything is packed up for an eventual move, but I still have a huge bank of pictures to go through. I've been thinking about favorite characters but it's tricky to narrow them down to at least top fives. I'll work on it. Fave Joe: Falcon (great attention to detail) Fave Cobra: Night Vulture (odd colors, but incredible detail) Fave Joe Jet: Phantom x-19 (slick!) Fave Cobra Jet: Python Conquest (awesome paint app) Fave Joe Helo: Tomahawk (just cool) Fave Cobra Helo: Mamba (awesome rotor blade set up) Fave Joe Armor: Rolling Thunder (smash 'em up!) Fave Cobra Armor: HISS (version 1, classic!) Fave Joe watercraft: Killer Whale (awesome) Fave Cobra watercraft: Moray Hydrofoil Overall fave: Defiant Shuttle Complex  Fave Movies: Akira, V for Vendetta, Aliens (just a start...) I'm really digging JoeDios! I'm here to stay, folks! **Based on the posted ages so far in this thread, I'm the geezer! I'll be 45 this year!** giTom |
Welcome giTom. I just got through looking through your initial batch of photos, and that was some really good stuff. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome GI Tom looks like your mostly a 12 inch Joe collector. After my recent move I came across some 1/6th scale "Joes" stuff mostly 21st Century Toys aside from figures & weapons there are a few humvees and little birds. So if you're interested let me know because they just taking up space right now. |
Hello and Welcome Mate!
Hi Tom!
Welcome to Joe Dios! I thoroughly encourage you to stay and post as much as you'd like. :D I would like you to familiarise yourself kindly to some guidance notes by our moderator: Reminders This isn't to bust you on the first day. I hope I speak personally for the community well in saying we just prefer that all of us at Joe Dios have segments of posting of around 4-6 photo's in one upload session. I don't want you to think I or any of us here are unappreciative of effort or your enthusiasm.. as that's not what we want. I'd encourage you to consider narrowing down the upload into short bursts rather than one long 15+ and above shots. You might wonder why this should matter, I just think if someone has posted one or two before you (especially on TR day) those pictures will undoubtedly get missed by some people. One final comment before I finish the post. Your a new first time contributor and poster to the site, so this is merely an oversight on your behalf I can appreciate you probably werent aware. Also these are more courtesy guidance rules than actual strict (dont do this or we'll ban your A$$ rules). Above all if your unsure about anything please do ask. ;) Rich |
