Introduction

Hi!

I'm Bartus. I'm from Peru, but currently living in Chile. I'm 32 yrs old, married with 2 kids (4 yrs and 1.5 yrs).

My first Joes came in 1986, Scrap Iron and Ripcord. As a kid I never got any vehicle, only about 20 Joes. When I grew I sold my joes and kept 4 or 5 in a box.

Many years later... in 1999... I rediscovered my interest in them, and started collecting (1st task: get the ones I had as a kid), and from them I kept increasing my collection, and started with similar 1/18 lines as well.

One of the first things that came with me when I moved to Chile were all my figures, but unfortunately my vehicles and playsets remained in Peru... and now, each time I go there I return with a couple of boxes of vehicles... one day they will be all together again...

I was amazed when I discovered the customizing and dios part of the hobby... but I didn't had the time to do it... now I have, and I will start posting some pics soon :)

(I need to improve my photograph shooting and photoshop editing skills, and learning from your posts will be an important part of it) :)

All the best!

Bartus!

Welcome to the forums.

Welcome to the forums Bartus!

I haven't managed photoshop so well either. Almost all of my photos are au naturale. :o It saves time in the photo editing section later ;)

I hope you have a nice stay here!
Rich

Bartus, i didn't know that they had Jose were you are. wow, is there a lot different from the American version.

bartus 07-04-2007 03:46 PM

Well, yes, there were "Joses" (lol) down here. At that time(when I was a kid), all the ones I got were north american versions, but years later when I got back into joes, I found vehicle boxes in spanish, apparently made in Venezuela... in fact I have (sadly still in Peru) an X-30 box in spanish.

Unfortunately, right now, nobody imports joes, so I have to get mine from the US, which makes them more expensive (for example, my "HTS 75% sale" buy was for 70 USD, and besides that I have to pay extra 175 USD for freight and customs)... good thing is that they will be delivering them tomorrow.

Bartus.

RE: Welcome to the forums Bartus!

Hi Rich!

Thanks for the welcome!

I totally agree with you that in some cases "au naturale" photos are better... I look forward to find a garden or forest where I can shoot some pics... if not I will have to stick to urban scenarios (or desert, which I think are easier to edit) :)

Hey there.

Hey there Bartus.
Your english is fantastic!

I speak with some people on MSN from other countries too, and yes. Au Naturale is way better, I guess I'm for photo editing and effects, its just so pleasing to get a shot outdoors that you don't need to do much messing around with.

Being from the UK we also have that import problem on Joes. Nobody (official) ships to the united kingdom either so usually we get a US Friend to help us out

Do you have a digital camera yet?
Rich

Thanks Rich :)

It's because I constantly deal with english speaking persons (due to my work).

Ahh... the old days when joes were all over the world... :( ... hope this new line goes well, enough to encourage some big chains to include some joes in their buying list... for example, last year Peru got Sigma 6 in Wong/Metro (kind of Wal-Mart), but no Dragonhawk... so there's a possibility...

Yes, I have digital camera, my old but reliable Minolta Dimage Xt 3.2 MP. I haven't decided yet to replace it. Which reminds me I need a new battery for it...
