Yeah, O-ring all the way... ALL the way.
Seriosly though, I really cant get exited about the 25th cos' no o-ring means weird articulation on the chest, that makes them look like having manboobs... Plus imo they are a bit too tall (I.E Destro who is huge, compared to "normal" o-ringed version of whomever) so I really even cant use the 25th with the O-ringed ones...it just looks weird imo. Only reason I ever even would considering getting a 25th is the accessories and vehicles...they seem great But then again, the B.A.T looks cool... so does Zartan and SS, but thats about it... So I'm sticking to O-rings and only O-rings...they just are so much cooler/better/superb =) |
25th is doing well because most single carded waves are undershipped and in small cases to boot. There's an artificially induced demand going on.
When the stores get the stuff in stock in bigger numbers, it lingers as much as anything. Wal-Mart had 40 of one wave of comic packs, which includes good-looking ones with the CG, the Twins and the Dreadnoks. If single waves shipped more, pegs would still be full of Buzzers, and Dukes with Jet Pack and Wild Bills would be piling up. |
I've recently switched over to O-rings because I have no choice. 80s figures are simply easier to find. Had no problem getting a complete V1 Tunnel Rat, but do you think I can get a 25A General Hawk? Dream on.

Yep, the manboob look is laughable, and one of the main things I dislike about the 25th figures. |

I have not had a problem with Wal-mart having the stuff...just wait a little while and it all shows up. I have passed on BATS at retail, because all I really need is 2. I have seen many General Hawks. Maybe I'm lucky, but I just check when Im there anyway. |

Saw one at TRU today. That is one good looking 25th figure. |
From a photographic point of view, the figs from Joe vs. Cobra to now are easier for me to take pics of because of the duller paint; it's gives off less glare from light.
From my pics, you'll see I have no real problems with the 25th :D But hey, at least you can still find o-ringed figs on ebay fairly easily, and distribution looks to be getting better on the 25th stuff (at least in MI), so we can all be happy ;) Have fun!!! |
Hey Doom I've been finding quite a bit of the 25th stuff in Canada. Especially at TRU. Walmart has had figures but they're always sold out whenever I go there. On one occasion I found a Bludd to my surprise, which I greedily snatched. I was in Vancouver just recently and went to a comic book store there and they were selling the 25th figures at atrocious prices. It was like 16-17 bucks a figure and even TRU is selling them at a little under 10 bucks. So I was not impressed. He did have the Night Watch set there as well, which I felt tempted to grab, but at like 45 - 50 bucks it didn't feel worth it.

The only TRU near me had absolutely no 25th stuff at all, all it had were a couple of the crappy Sigma Sux mini vehicles. My local Wal-Mart has figs on occasion, I'm still looking for a few good BAT's. I've checked three Wal-Mart's in Halifax, and only one of them had anything GI Joe at all and it was a Sigma Sux Storm Shadow, but I digress from the topic.
Yes I am a huge O-ring fan, though my 25ths are quite pretty for display, which is pretty much all I use them for. I would however like to find a few BAT's simply because as droids they don't suffer from the manboob syndrome, and overall it's not a half bad fig, especially the accesories. |
