The thing is,guys-this is an extra set that the Retailers wanted after the initial favorable response to the 25ths.

I guess I'm the only one here that likes it-more for me!

i hope it sells great, even though i spoke ill of it. if it sells, then that means more money for hasbro, which means more and more joes for us. i am not a collector, as in i dont have to have every figures made, only ones that i like and think i would use. so even if i wont be buying it, i hope many others do.

Anyone else find it a bit annoying that they're already doing repaints to make figures that don't correspond with anything prior? Namely Jet Pack Trooper and this CC?

I realise this pack wasn't exactly planned far in advance but you'd think that they still wouldn't be so quick to contradict the whole "We've got 25 years of GI Joe history to draw from" line. And why is it that these days it's so important to constantly have "key" characters on the shelves but updating them? Do kids today REALLY want multiples of the same guy? Because GI Joe became a top-selling and long-lasting toy line without doing that; my first CC was the Battle Armor version and I was collecting for a few years before he came out. I got Snake Eyes v2 and didn't get another until 2001 bcause I didn't need one. Some of the more popular characters were still available and had their pics on the cardbacks when the next wave of figures came out but there was never a Snake Eyes, CC, SS AND Duke out at the same time. Masters Of The Universe didn't do too badly either, and that didn't have a new version of He-Man & Skeletor out with EVERY new wave...

Army-building seems like a no-brainer to make more sales without having to pay for new sculpts but no, they put who knows how many off buying multiple sets by making 2/5 of the figures a waste of time to anyone but completists even if you just buy the one set. So few characters available in the line and they're looking to get 3 versions of 2 of them out in stores at the same time...?

Flatline 08-23-2007 05:29 PM

MOST OF EVERYTHING EVERYBODY SAYS IS TRUE. SO YOU WHO LIKE IT WILL GET IT (OR TWO) ;) ... THOSE THAT DON'T SIMPLY WONT, AND THE LACK OF HASBRO GIVING A RATS @$$...... WELL IT'S SOMETHING WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH IN ARE OWN WAY.
NOUGH SAID!!.

Sonneilon 08-23-2007 05:36 PM

As I said before, Hasbro is trying to recoup costs on this 25thA endeavor of theirs. They are following the SW idealogy of doing mass Cobra Troops; same buck model, different variations. That's been stated by the guys at Hasbro at both ToyFair and SDCon.

Now, we all know that none of these figures will fit in vehicles but Hasbro has said that if the singles do well enough, they will do vehicles. And you can probably assume (safely or not) that the Big H will do NEW vehicles in the old style. Hopefully that means we won't get a repainted JvC Brawler w/ a 4-rocket racket on the back.

That reminds me... iirc, the boyz at Hasbro said that the 5-packs would be used for mad repaints and variations whereas they will push the single packs with actual characters. Which is why we'll see Zartan and Shipwreck in singles not 5-packs. And if you REALLY think about it, there ARE 3 army builders in that upcoming 5-pack. I wouldn't mind getting word of what the 2nd Joe 5'r will be.

Really? I was at the Con, and I didn't notice that! If they do it, that'll be very cool. I love the Comic Cobra Colors.

On another note, I'm continually amazed at the levels of negativity towards the 25th products on this board. I read Joecustoms a lot too, and the responses there, though they include some negativity, seem to be overwhelmingly positive for the most part.

I'm not trying to criticize anyone here, because we're obviously all entitled to our own opinions, and I respect that. I'm just observing that we seem to have all the "haters" centered here on this forum somehow.

And fair enough too. I'm not a hater per se. If Hasbro bring out good stuff, I will buy it. The Stinger Driver looks half decent, but it's not worth the price of a 5-pack. I just think it's asking alot for us to spend our hard earned on half-arsed quick fix stuff like this. I understand G's point about Hasbro trying to recoup their outlay by getting as much as possible out of the new dies, but this is not the way to do it. The same old characters over and over gets tired very quickly. Fresh figures get my money, cheap version 30-something repaints don't. Simple! ;)

Scarrviper 08-24-2007 05:01 AM

Outrider took the words out of my mouth.

General Jones 08-24-2007 07:59 AM

I'm am going to put in a guess for the next Joe 5-pack

Blue dress Gung Ho
Roadblock V2
Snake Eyes V3
Ninja Force Scarlett
Skidmark ;)

Stormer 08-24-2007 10:47 AM

I wouldn't necessarily say I hate the 25th Ann. stuff, I've just been disappointed (and I loved what I saw when the first pics came out). The size/scale thing is the main detractor for me and I just haven't seen enough to convince me it's worth the expense to get some shipped to the UK -- besides the posing & weak joints issues, with this new set 2 out of 5 figures being of no use to me means I couldn't justify the cost just for the other 3, and they're characters I'd have been interested in army-building (comic-style trooper especially).

25th Anniversary Vehicles

With the 25th line, has Hasbro said whether or not they will make vehicles?

Outrider 08-28-2007 12:47 PM

From what I've read around different sites, it is dependent on how well the figures sell. Good sales equals possible vehicles, poor sales means no chance of new vehicles.

lehsreh 08-28-2007 01:25 PM

so true. i think we'll see them because the wal mart here or k-mart cant keep them. i asked today and they said the wear house is out, so they must be selling great. vehicles and playsets, something i never got as a kid because i had a low allowance.

General Scarlett 08-28-2007 02:48 PM

As of this moment, Hasbro is not considering producing vehicles.

However, if/when the movie drops......the necessity of vehicles becomes somewhat of a given.........albeit in whatever form they choose. They might not exactly be what we remember.....but at least they'll be something!!

And remember, since the new line is a slight bigger than the original....the regular Joes will fit in....maybe a bit extra room, but more is better than less!!! ;)

Considering normal Joes have trouble fitting into some of the older vehicles anyway, that might be a good thing. ;)

Flatline 08-28-2007 03:52 PM

I THINK THAT THEY SERIOUSLY HAVE TO CONSIDER THE VEHICLES. LIKE SCARLETT SAID WITH THE MOVIE ITS A GIVEN AND THE FACT THAT THEY ARE FIT FOR THE 25TH. THE OG'S WILL FIT FOR SURE.

Prince Adam 08-28-2007 03:54 PM

I'm really hoping for a Vamp. For a few reasons really...

1)It just scremes classic Joe!
2)Clutch
3) Repaint options. Stinger, Tan Vamp, that Cobra 4x4 thing that came w/ Vipra.

Other than that I could see 'em doing a Hiss.

Prince Adam 08-28-2007 03:57 PM

Come to think of it, a new GI Joe HQ playset would be great, but I'm afraid they'd ruin it with silly action features. You can just have playsets these days, they have to do something.

yorktownjoe 08-29-2007 04:16 AM

I only have Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow of the 25th variety and I have been able to get Snake Eyes into some regular vehicles.

I have not yet taken pictures of him or Stormy in them, but I was thinking of taking a few to recreate the idea of their joint assault on Cobra Island back in issues 46-47. I pasted some YoJOE links to the vehicles that can accomodate 25th Snake Eyes.

ASP http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/84/asp/
Stellar Stilletto http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/88/stellarstiletto/
IMP http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/88/imp/
Thunderwing http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/04/thunderwingjet/

Most of these favor "full length" poses or "slouching" instead of "sitting" which is the key issue with the 25th. But then again, how many of us could drive a vehicle with our legs locked at the knee and stetched all the way forward (a la old school vehicles and figures)?

Anyway, just rambling and sharing ideas since we don't have vehicles for them....YET!

Invasor 08-29-2007 06:08 AM

:D It would be great to see some new versions of them...

lehsreh 08-29-2007 01:25 PM

ive stated in different threads that i never collected vehicles of playsets as a kid. being into dios now days i really, really need some or both. i hope we at least get a joe and cobra playset, trouble bubble, asp, tommahawk and a thunder machine. i really dont need much for my joes as i see them doing the attacking thus they would be in places that cobra has made it all but impossible to carry vehicles.

Sonneilon 08-29-2007 03:36 PM

We know that the boyz at Hasbro has at least thought of it. But I get this funny idea that they are very expensive to produce and more a risk than single figures. 2008 seems to be in the air and IS dependent whether these initial 3 waves sell well. I can only assume they'd make vehicles for the drivers they have been releasing. It'd be retarded NOT to. What's the point of a HISS Driver or Stinger Driver if they don't have something to cruise in?

So, has anyone actually SEEN these figures warming the pegs? I mean, you'd see the OTHER eras sitting there but man, a case goes up and it's gone in a day or two. Shoot, maybe it's the scalpers who'll keep GI Joe alive! lol

Captain Max 08-29-2007 03:54 PM

They are definetly NOT peg-warming in my little town! I still can't find a Cobra Officer.

lehsreh 08-29-2007 04:09 PM

as i said in another thread i went to wal mart tuesday and asked the worker when they would be getting another shipment. he told me that they had them ordered, but the warehouse was even out of stock.

Fantom 08-30-2007 07:44 AM

Since the 25th Joes have hit the stores in my area I've had no problem finding the 5 packs. In fact, my local Freddy's had a sale and I was able to pick up the Cobra battle pack for $21.99. Not a bad price :)

lehsreh 09-29-2007 04:36 PM

25th crimson guard

don't know who has or hasn't saw them yet, but theres pics of the 25th crimson guard. this is one i myself have been dieing to see. bad thing, they even screwed him up. his head looks robotic. but he isn't out yet so they may fix this, they did stalker's color. heres the link in case you haven't saw hem yet.

http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?m...ize=600&start=0

Swindle 09-29-2007 04:51 PM

It isn't bad, but the mask is off.

lehsreh 09-29-2007 04:55 PM

yeah, thats the only thing, but its a bad mistake. i guess if you have the later CG with the removeable mask you can use a duke head and use the mask. another bad note. first line of 08 there will be drum roll, another V1 snake eyes. but hey, he's black so i guess its ok. NOT! just to add. they speak of the movie, as american, not international. and aso talk about fixing the crotches. and yes, some new vehicles. well repaints, and the razor destro everyone seems to want

Scarrviper 09-29-2007 05:57 PM

The good- removable shotgun on thigh :)

The bad- weird head sculpt and diaper crotch :(

The ugly- manboob syndrome.

Urban Saboteur 09-30-2007 04:26 AM

Good idea.

Good idea, pants execution. I'm not sure but i think both X-Factor contestants and hasbro workers are dillusional.. they have to be.. well theres another $5-$6 I've just saved for something better.
Can this figure sit down? :o

Flint 09-30-2007 05:59 AM

Thanks for the pics lehsreh!!! :)

LordRaven 09-30-2007 08:53 AM

hehehe....this figures are butter faced. Everything is awesome but 'er face. HA!

gung ho 09-30-2007 09:49 AM

i like the crimson guard, firefly and stalker but thats about it don't really like the rest of them

Sonneilon 09-30-2007 10:46 AM

I agree about the helmet design. Personally, I LOVE the DTC head. I could careless if the mask and helmet come off. I like the idea of faceless legions. THanks for the link, Big L. I'm too lazy to go TNI myself and wade thru all their crap to find the con info.

Uhmmmm, so which Stalker is going to be in the stores? Or are there going to be 2? I like the green/green combo (the one on the right) over the tan/green version.

Outrider 09-30-2007 11:50 AM

Hmmm, Hasbro screwing up another figure...no surprise there!

Jay 09-30-2007 11:59 AM

Meh.

Self-Modifier 09-30-2007 12:25 PM

I'm not quite clear on what everyone dislikes about this Siegie. I never owned the original, nor did I get the DTC version, so I'm confused. All I have is the removable helmet version from the TRU six packs, and this looks pretty much just like that. The face looks like all the old Siegie's I've ever seen... Is it the way it juts out in profile, or what?

it is going to be the one on the right. the story goes that the paint was a mistake and hasbro had them repainted. so the one on the right will be the one we get. however as weve saw with the 2 packs im thinking well be seeing the glow version in a future comic 2 pack.
