There doesn't seem to be much interest in bringing back Weekend Warriors, so I won't be adding any new themes. There's one more left then it'll be finished.
2-3 June 2012
Unlikely Heroes
Everyone in Cobra can't be pure evil. Show the bad guys preforming an act of heroism or some good deed.
How it works:
Each weekend will have a new theme for members in interpret in your own way. As simple as that. It's just for fun, something everyone can work on together. Title your photos Weekend Warriors: [insert theme] so everyone knows. Post them on the weekend or the following Monday. Anyone can participate. No sign-ups required. (Same format as in the past.)
It's been almost a year since we had WW so I thought I'd try and restart it. If you have some ideas for themes, post them in this thread. Keep the ideas open enough that anyone can participate. I'll update this first post with new themes one month in advance so everyone has time to plan ahead.
Previous themes:
Stealth
Combat
Aftermath
Accessories
Wildlife
Filecards
Historic
Customs

I love this idea and am glad you're bringing it back. It always gave me motivation todo something at the end of the work week when I hadn't set aside the time to take photos that week.

I don't think this one would be good for everyone, only because there doesn't seem to be a lot of members with historical figures and vehicles on the site. Although you can always put a historical twist on any of the themes.

Stealth
Sabotage, sniping, disguises, prisoner snatch, ambushes, assassinations, etc. Show your sneakiest troops doing what they do best.
14-15 April 2012
Combat
There's a lot of photos of figures just standing around doing nothing. These are action figures, let's see some action!
21-22 April 2012
Aftermath
The battle is over, it's time to tend to the wounded, collect the dead, interrogate prisoners, relax and thank god you're alive… Show the aftermath of a battle won or lost.
28-29 April 2012
Accessories
Let's see some closeups of your favorite accessories in use.

I love the fact that we're bringing these back. This is something I missed very much. Looking forward to this weekends theme! :)

After a year or so away from Joedios I'm just getting back into taking/posting pice but I remember WW as a great idea to make you think of new things!! Anyway I have a few ideas for future themes... (some have been done before)
Secondary Specialities - characters using their secondary speciality
Song titles - a pic based on the title of a song.
SFX - a pic with some special effects in - could be digital (photoshop etc) or real - lighting, fire, etc!)
Unlikely Allies - sometimes the enemy of your enemy is your friend!
Crossovers - always a good one!
Wildlife - a shot featuring animals (could be accessories like "Polly" or "Junkyard" or real animals (people's pets etc)
Historic photos - recreate an historical photo using figures (for eg a photo of WW2 troops recreated with Cobra troopers or Joes in identical poses)
Oops! - a photo of things going wrong (from the silly to the deadly!)
Hope at least some of those ideas make sense and are of use!! ;)
Cheers

New theme suggested by Ned Drok.
5-6 May 2012
Wildlife
Some of the Joe animals are as famous their human counterparts, it's time they got the spotlight. What other animal figures do you use with your Joes? Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

New theme inspired by Ned Drok's "Secondary Specialities" submission, expanded a little.
Submit your ideas for Weekend Warriors themes in this thread. Make sure they're open enough that anyone can participate.
12-13 May 2012
Filecards
Create a photo inspired by a character's filecard. Portray their personality, show them preforming one of their specialties, or recreate a story. (You can view filecards on yojoe.com (http://www.yojoe.com/filecard/).)

19-20 May 2012
Historic
Time to deploy your realistic military figures and recreate any battle from history. If you don't have any realistic military toys, use GI Joe and Cobra to recreate a war photo.

Not a theme suggestion, but a question about WW - is there a list of the previous WW themes somewhere? And if not would it be worth putting one together so people can suggest things that have either not been done before, or that were done some time ago?
Secondly could we add some standardised keyword tags to indicate that posts are WW related and the particular theme? So something like "weekendwarriors" for all weekend warrior posts, plus the theme (e.g. ww_stealth, ww_combat, ww_historic, etc.) (plus any other keywords) to help people search.
Perhaps this is already being done?

I think the standardized tags are a good idea, lardman. It'll beat having to dig around to find what other people are posting.
I'm really glad this is going again! I've wanted to post the last few weeks but I've been way too busy. I'm planning something out for next weekend, though!

There's a list in the fist post of pervious themes since WW returned. I don't know if anyone kept track of the themes before.
We have a standard format for the titles Weekend Warriors: [insert theme] which is searchable. The title can be put into the keywords too. Might as well keep them the same for simplicity. I don't think there's any rules about titles and keywords, so we just have to hope everyone does it voluntary.

Thank Ned Drok, he had a good idea to make the theme work for people without historical stuff.

Ok, fwiw I've just compiled a list in Microsoft Excel (xlsx format) of the WW topics I could find using search. It consists of: topic name, description if present and the URL of the announcement post.
I've attached it in a zip file as I doubt a single post can hold all the data, and equally if it's of use it may be better in its own thread rather than stuck onto the tail end of this one. It's also getting late and I'm heading for bed, so if someone thinks it might be of use and wants to construct such a thread in my absence feel free! :)
P.S. I also saw this idea while searching: http://www.joedios.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2471&highlight=weekend+warriors
Apparently it didn't go far, but it looks interesting if it could be made to work.
P.P.S. I take it back about it not going far, the last post shows a summary of the parts, and there are a fair few in there.

What about something like special Guest stars (people who helpGI Joe from time to time)
examples like Indiana Jones, or Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, or even custom figures?

I'll quit lurking and contribute. The pics people have posted are all pretty good. I'm a little behind, but I didn't have Aslan in time to be timely. I'll think of something for next week.

How about retirement or new career direction as a theme? What if a Joe or Cobra member left their respective organisations to pursue something else? What would they decide to do next? What other skills might they have?
