View Full Version : Outrider's New Journey....

Sadly, Craig passed away last night. While I have great sadness, I am also thankful that he is no longer suffering. Please do not underestimate the value he placed on the friendships he has shared with you. Craig treasured all of the times he has had with you all. The support, prayers and friendships that you have provided to Craig meant the world to him. I personally thank you for constantly being there for him. Even when he wasnt feeling well enough to respond to emails and messages, he still took the time to read them. I know that Craig would want me to share this with you as soon as I could. Again, thank you for everything, Deanne

Something inside me felt that this news was very near........

Deanne,

Know that you and your children and family are in constant thoughts and prayers, and while from the distances that separate so many of us from you are great, we are no farther than you asking for support and receiving it in a moment's notice.

Craig was-no, IS-an eternal spirit. His vision, talent and legacy live on in the love you have shown as his partner. To this end, Craig has become the everlasting man and husband-a feat that anyone would be humbled to aspire to.

As time passes, it is my sincere hope that you and your family will find the pain of loss somewhat eased and once again be able to embrace the joy of days gone by. But I suspect that Craig would not have found a soulmate in you if you were nothing less than amazing yourself-a fact you have proven in spades by taking the time to inform those of us who only knew him via this medium-while in the midst of dealing with your own feelings.

Craig has joined the pantheon of angels and saint now.......and they are all that much enriched by his arrival. Surely we can all take solace in feeling his presence as the sun shines and also know he is nearby each and every time that we think fondly of him and remember the giant of a man he will always be.

I too am a loss for words. Our heartfelt condolences to you DeAnne and to your closest family and relatives. The Joe world has lost a creative and remarkable talent in Craig. But at least you've told us that he's thought of us as much as we've thought of him. A remarkable human being.

Here's to his next journey. And a heartfelt blessing to you DeAnne.

Rest in Peace, Craig.

A legend has passed and in his wake he has inspired many, including myself. Because of his passion he set the bar pretty high, and with that he gave us something to aspire to. As great as he was, he was also humble, and always positive. He left us plenty of his work to study and enjoy. I am proud to have pictures posted in my name where he has complimented me for my attempts at a great photo. Thank you Craig, rest in peace!

Deanne, I am sorry for your loss. I prayed many times for Craig, that his transition will be painless. I pray for your transition because this is a new journey for you too. I have lost a friend that is bigger than me. He always has been and as a mod here, I've had to play hardball at times. I always feel a twinge of guilt when making certain actions and I often thought of how Craig would have handled things. On this site, he was ALWAYS a good person; fair, smart and always willing to give his wisdom in the art of what we all practice.

Thank you for posting his passing.

Take care and be strong.

Outrider was the first of the Veterans here to give me praise and encouragement. He made me feel welcome and gave me encouragement when I dared to try! He was a great man, an awesome artist and a true friend whose talent was only out shined by his humility. The world lost a great man, and I lost a great friend. I will see him someday in the future and hopefully he will approve of the way I have chose to use the gifts and lessons he taught me! We'll Miss you Craig! God Bless you and your family!

I know I'm pretty much a lurker around here, but Black Major told me what happened and it took me a day to work up the nerve to come here and see what's been said. I'm reacting the same way a lot of people here are, even fireflyed a little bit. There's a lot of great work here that keeps me interested in Joe and Outrider's was definitely a master of his digital craft. But I have to say, some of the images you all have posted to honor of him would make him proud.

Sometimes words are difficult to find.

Outrider's photo skills were/are/is/always will be amazing. His aerial shots are flawless. Every single picture was exectued with care, precision and an attention to detail.

If his skills continue to encourage and inspire others to strive for those same skills, then his legacy will endure.

Deanne,

I have had one of Craigs pictures as my wallpaper as long as I can remember. I have followed his battle closely and with sincere concern because my wife has also been battling this evil disease for two years. I cannot fathom your loss. I've often prayed for his recovery and now I pray that God will give you strength, comfort and the unexplainable peace that only He can provide.

This is Gung ho. I used to post here alot back in the day..

I was informed by my Brother that Outrider had died, and I was completely stunned..

Outrider was a big reason why I started taking pictures and was an inspiration to me. My mouth fell open when I heard he had died. The last time I was here, he was coming out of surgery and seemed to be doing fine.. Now, to here of his death, it just makes me sad..

I give my blessings to his wife and family.. I also give my thanks to Outrider, himself, for being such an inspiration to all of us. I think it's safe to say that JoeDios won't be the same without.

But may his legend, and soul live on with the forums, and pictures you guys take.

Hi everyone, I apologise that it has taken so long to catch up on everyone's lovely messages, prayers and support. Craig loved taking Joe pics, and he put an extraordinary amount of time into getting 'just the right shot'' :D I miss Craig very much, as I know you all do. He truly valued the friendships he had made. I hope that everyone is going ok.

for Mobius_1 - Craig had bowel cancer

take care, Deanne

Deanne, I saw Outrider at the last post on this thread & it made my chest hurt. I can't even pretend to imagine how you feel. I think you can see by this thread just how much he was loved. I hope you are doing well, thank you for your response back. Hope you check in on us from time to time just to say hi. Dave

I know, I'm so sorry.

I had mentioned to Kurt that I would like to do a photo for Craig, but I wouldn't be able to create the masterpieces that he did :). & that I would put all the Cobra guys with the Joe guys and have everybody doing the wrong things!!! Ah well, I'll have to stick with the guys I know :D . Go easy on me if I get it wrong !! :D .

I look forward to seeing Mobius'photo, I'm sure it will make me smile :) .

thank you everyone,
Deanne

I had no plans to add a comment in this thread, for while I was sad at the news, Craig and I seldom spoke aside from perhaps commenting on one another's photos; I just didn't feel that it was my place to to be presumptuous enough to say anything.

But I suddenly have a small tribute that's more cool and funny and coincidental than sentimental, and I think he'd have gotten a kick out of it.

I maintained a toy blog for a year or two (I'm not posting a link, because this isn't about self-promotion, and I abandoned that blog quite some time ago anyway). One two separate occasions, I posted on that blog a couple-few photos from JoeDios that had impressed me.

I recently revisited my old blog for the first time in a year or so, and I checked out one of those two look-at-these-cool-photos-from-JoeDios posts, and wouldn't ya know it, it featured two photos from good ol' Outrider.

I'd had no memory of it being his photos I'd chosen. It made for a cool, strangely poignant discovery.

Rest in Peace, Craig.
