Problems with the site again?

I tried to view the photos page today and around half of the pictures won't load, either as thumbnails or when clicked on. I don't know if it's just me (I have to view the site via a proxy server), because the pics that won't load have comments on them. Anyone else having problems?

Craig, i have not been able to post a pic since the last downage. I get this message"An error occurred while attempting to create a folder for your files. If the problem persists, please notify the webmaster", when i try to upload. i have submitted a new app for a different account to see if that's the problem. HAMMERFEL>>>WE NEED YOU!

Hmm, must be the proxy server I use. If I don't use a proxy server the site won't even load at all so I guess I'm stuck with it. If I don't comment on someone's great photo it's because I can't see it! :(

I can't upload. I'm wondering if it's a limitation of my account or what? I can see that other people have been uploading which is great, but I've got a TOC - Recreate the Scene image I've been trying to post and it's just not working. Every time I click submit it takes me to an error page and says how it can't create a folder or something. Any help?

Might have to shrink the file size. That's what I've had to do.

I tried dropping the resolution from 1600x1200 to 1024x768 which resulted in a big drop in file size, down to less than 200k but that didn't change the error message I'm getting. Still won't post.

I can't post straight from my pictures files. I have to resize the photo in photobucket to 800xwhatever and then save it back to my pc and then upload from there and it works. I am going to try to take smaller pics from the camera and try it that way. Also, it seems to help if the pics are under 1mb. Maybe there is a new size limit on uploads to save space. I know that all my pics before the crash were pretty big.

I'm pretty sure that the size doesn't have anything to do with it. I resized down to 800x600 and I still got the same error. Here's exactly what it says by the way :

"An error occurred while attempting to create a folder for your files. If the problem persists, please notify the webmaster."

Kind of sucks.

It could be the file size, but I thought that "can't create a folder" problem was fixed. I'll ask the server admin.

It DID happen to everyone when the site came back up. I can only guess those that fell thru the cracks haven't been around much or something. Otherwise, I have no idea.

I have been trying to upload the entire time, every day, seeing if it will work. I have tried all the suggestions too. I submitted a new account app as "dancontrinosclone". I'm hoping it will get activated and I can upload through that. People need to see my poor quality shots, Graham! :D

Around 90% of the pictures still won't load for me, so I apologise to anyone who's great pic I haven't commented on. Can't see it, can't comment! :(

Here's what Sean, our server admin, had to say:

"FWIW, I am able to upload images and I also logged into the server and chmod'd all the files and folders in /dioramas/files/ +777, so there shouldn't be any problems creating new files or folders. If some users have problems with specific folders, we can check if there are permission issues with those folders.

As for some people not seeing images, I believe there may be two different issues:
1) People using proxies to get around firewalls (china, etc.?) will likely never have great success because the thing that's blocking their access is probably also doing deep packet inspection to block specific content.

2) "Smart" caching proxies may have cached page content while the server was missing images and are not updating for some reason. That's the only explanation I have for some users seeing everything and others only 75% of the images."

I'am experiencing problems just for getting into this site with google chrome. Some months ago, I entered this site without any problem. Recently, I had to go to the link of some topic, the main site wasn't available. And now I can only enter via Internet Explorer, which is a lot slower. With Firefox I have mixed results, sometimes good some others the same as chrome. This isn't a critical problem but is very annoying, any hint of what to do?

Makes sense. Would that mean this particular issue can be solved by "touching" all images that were created on the server during the problem period, thus forcing those proxies to update their caches ?

I upload it into photobucket, then edit it. There is an option that lets you make it smaller. Then I re-save it to my computer and upload it to joedios.
