There was the clue they gave in the email recently.

"This might be a history loop...but...something old, something new, something foreign and nothing blue."

Why they hate blue so much?

My guess is that it will be international figures probably in the 25th style or some of both (25th and o-ring). Maybe 25th versions of cobra mortal, cobra de aco, or action force. Maybe red shadows.

I've read rumours about Red Shadows, but that was what everyone thought last year!

Edit! Check this out, the first announced figure is a new o-ring style Interrogator:

I'm glad they are keeping the o-ring alive

Interesting colours/body design.

Plague team set, maybe...?

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Odd, if they do, since the only 3 plague figures were new sculpt style.

Looks like Eco Warrior Flint arms. Snake-Eyes 1991 torso.

If they're going by the DDP style Plague, Grimskull and Gallows didn't look like the figures, they had helmets like the type of Viper they were. Dunno what they might do for Guillotine; maybe a recoloured rerelease? Saying they're going to be o-ring doesn't necessarily exclude new-sculpt...

awe man I hope all the exclusive stuff aren't O-ring cuz i'd prefer a mix .

Well they are making those AT figures in 1/18 in 25th style.

Looks like Interrogator has Red Star's waist (the jacket/shirt bottom and strap), maybe his legs, too.

So a mix of 1991 figures.

So the brochure talks about Flint's "international team" coming to his rescue, which I'm assuming will be done in the figures that aren't part of the 15-pack. I'm assuming there'll be at least one Action Force character from the Palitoy days, since the Red Shadows were their enemies.

The brochure mentions a character who's not been released as a 3.75" figure before; unless they mean someone who's never been a figure in ANY scale, my guess would be Lt. Stone from Sigma 6. His backstory had him as a former member of British Intelligence, so that would fit the international theme. Also, he was the pilot of the Sigma 6 Dragonhawk -- perhaps that'll be a con vehicle, with Stone as the pilot figure? They could do the 2.5" Dragonhawk, maybe with some cockpit mods to better accommodate 3.75" figures? On generalsjoes, com there've already been photos of Hasbro prototypes for (hopefully) upcoming releases including the Iron Hammer mech refitted for 3.75"...

I have not been this excited about a con set in years. I am so looking forward to this and am trying to figure out how to go again this year. I have really got into the international figures in the past year, so this is really the set I have been looking for.

So, best I could tell from the brochure, all the sets are o-ring style, right? What's the deal with the dr. venom, I thought he was gonna be 25th style?

the good doctor is not a part of the con exclusives but is normal club exclusive like the M.o.t.h. sets and will be produced in higher numbers. this AT will be using 25th construction

Luis the bagged set is 175 but is limited to one per boxed set (you cant just buy a bagged set) the boxed set is 295 if your in the clus and 345 if not

My turn if anyone attending the convention would be so kind as to pick me up an extra 3 3/4"souvenir pack (that are only available to those who attend) that would be awesome PLEASE PM me :) ???

What the hell; I may as well put in the same request -- stuck out here in England, it's probably my only chance at ever getting them...! (Slightly ironic since some of the main 15-pack, and so possibly the souvenir pack, are based on figures that were originally UK & Europe-exclusive!)

Black Major is up

M. Bison's head was the obvious way to go. Maybe too obvious. as fans have used it for Black Major customs for years.

Odd waist choice. Action Marine? Thought that was one of the destroyed/lost molds they had once planned to use for the 3 3/4" o-ring style Adventure Team.

rnrhero
02-11-2010, 05:38 AM
I like the figure. They probably could have used a smaller head but after Hasbro Purged alot of the molds last year, I bet there is not alot to pick from. I can not wait to see the others.

The Major looks very cool.

The BATman
02-11-2010, 11:39 AM
Yes, he does look great.

(I'm so regretting not having started collecting the original Red Shadows years ago, when they were still cheap and everywhere. And these new ones are obviously also going to be too expensive. Alas.)

Need some help identifing parts:

Head: Mr. Bison
Torso: Hardball
Waist and legs: Grunt Comic pack/keychain trooper.

Arms???

It's a nice figure, just the head not quite right. But is a nice Black Major incarnation IMO.

Scarrviper
02-11-2010, 03:28 PM
Those look like headman arms to me.

To be honest, I don't know why people are complaining, it looks spot-on with the original figure.

I think he looks great myself. I just hope they do the Red Shadow troopers right. So far so good.

Lava Boss

Red Torches are up.

Red Torch preview (http://www.gijoecon.com/ri2010/con10torches-preview.cfm)

I thought the head was new but looks to be from BTR's Shadow Viper, nice obscure choice...hope they adapted it to fit the body well. Body is entirely Eco Flint from what I can tell.

Looks decent, but 6 of them? I think they need more figure variety in the main set, especially for the price, like they did in 2007.

ThinkTank
02-11-2010, 07:06 PM
what are you gonna do with 6 flamethrower guys? get blown up real fast that's what. The figure looks decent and I like the head.

Darklon
02-12-2010, 11:30 AM
That figure looks very nice. I will probably do a custom of him as I normally don't pay the high prices of this figures.

The BATman
02-12-2010, 11:55 AM
Contrary to the Black Major, these Red Torches don't really do anything for me. Probably because of the lack of attached nostalgia.

Scarrviper
02-12-2010, 03:02 PM
The Red Torches look fantastic, the parts combo is genius. I would just re-arm them anyway, so the flame thrower doesn't bother me. I can't wait to see how the regular troops look. So far this set is looking awesome.

I'm not really excited by this set so far. The Black Major looks okay, but is pretty much a Bison clone. And six flamethrowers? Hmmm, I'll reserve judgement until I see the rest of the set, not sure if I'll pick it up yet. Still, at least they're o-ring! :)

Scarrviper

Once again I like the mold choices, especially the 93 duke body. The original Flint head looks ok. Better than that terrible comic pack sculpt. The paintjob is the only problem I have. It's cool, but it just doesn't scream Flint. A decent figure overall. Hopefully he looks better in person.

rnrhero
02-13-2010, 03:33 PM
My thought about flint is that his color will fit in with the Z Force colors a bit better. I was not sold on it at first but am starting to like it thinking he can hang out with Steeler and Glenda.

Outrider
02-13-2010, 04:12 PM
I think Flint is probably the best figure so far, but that isn't saying much. He looks a bit like someone's custom!

Trench-Viper
02-13-2010, 08:13 PM
Cool figures so far, the maker of this set will be the red shadows troopers however. The headsculpt on them will be the key, Hasbro can just use direct to consumer crimson guard for the bodies.

Cobra Freak

I hope the Red shodow troops look good. if they do I might have to get six more!
