Here's the deal, I wanna make a freighter for my next dio...it gets hijacked and then....wait...I'm giving away too much!! Anyway, I want the thing to be big enought to be realistic....I don't actually need to build the WHOLE Thing, just enough to have some guys get on board from over the side and take the place quickly and quietly. I have about 48" of length on the desk to make it on by approximatly 30" of width, but I don't wanna make it too wide, I need to film the guys coming up on the side of it....so I need room for water. I think I know what I'm gonna do, but I'm looking for Idea's/Suggestions BEFORE I start so if someone has a good one, let me know!

Depending on how much deck you need you could do this movie set style. Just build the section you need for filming. Maybe say 1-1 1/2 feet of hull, with a partial deck and the water beneath. Like a cutaway section. That's what I'd do if it were me. Unless I planned on displaying the freighter afterwards. No point in building more than you need. And you can always go back and add to it later on.

Depending on your budget you could get a model ship from a hobby store

Just by eyeballing, that appears to scale... Good work so far. Looking forward to your dio or any static pics with this set/theme.

That's cool! It reminds me of that issue where the oktober guard were on a freighter (the one where the guy defects to the joes).

Very good so far...
rember the more real you want it to look... the more details you put into it.
Before I continue, I have to say that I am by no means even close to the talent you have in making of these sets... actually I suck big time. But I do know what looks good to me and what I would want to do if I knew how...
...so maybe put some "clutter" onto it... like scratch paint on walls, some pipes or what nots (whatever there are in real freighters) stuff to the walls that make it look bulky and non-symmetrical instead of sleek "box"-like walls... you know, wires, antennas, handles, plating etc...
