Ok gang, here's the deal!

Graham and I are head of the nFo, the NEW FIGURE ORDER. We're posting a challenge to anyone who DARES take us on with those pitiful O-Ringed figures.

Anyone who wants to join the nFo, start posting the BEST photos of 25th figures you can. I mean, THE BEST! Nothing out of focus, no static shots, the nFo wants ONLY the best! We'll see if anyone can rally those old schoolers against us.

It's going to be FRIENDLY. That is our first rule. If people can't play nice and have it be all in good fun, they will get booted out of it. We want it to be similar to colour wars like in camp. Totally good natured, totally in the spirit of fun, competition and collecting. People will not HAVE to play, or pick a side if they choose NOT to participate.

Secondly, we want to make sure every picture posted for this competition is AMAZING! out of focus shots of a new figure sitting on a coffee table with the flash making the shot even worse will not do. We really wanna raise the bar on this one.

Thirdly, we want to generate a bit more discussion and traffic on the site. If people check in 3 or 4 times a day just to see what the other team, or their own teammates have done.

4th. Obviously the nFo is all about the 25A figures (and beyond!). The other side, other than needing a name, caters to the ARAH figures. The Bastard Era stuff (JvC-DTC) are open to either side. HOWEVER, the Bastard Era comic packs, relying on the old ARAH style, goes to the ARAH. The 6-packs are, for the most part, open game.

5th. ONCE a character is used for a side, the other side can't use it (unless they are getting pummeled, right???).

6th. Vehicles are universal.

So gang, let's see what ya got. It's go time suckas. The nFo is here, and we ain't backin down!

If people keep within the spirit intended, it should be a bit of fun. Consider me honour bound to defend the o-ring!

Nfo sucks... LOL :D
Agreed with Craig, lets hope people keep within the fun spirit of things. I'm siding on the O.W.N particularly as I am not a fan of hasbro's recent work. :p

Sorry guys... I'm with the NFO, I got rid of almost every O-Ring figure I had because I really never liked the "O-Ring" or the molds.

This outta be fun tho... :D

This competition has resulted in a lot of amazing photos already, but I find the logos on the photos detract from the pictures. They remind me of the annoying station logos on TV shows. Just something to consider.

let me see if I follow this, so its 10 characters per team for a week? I mean are teams reset? We are just supposed to photo our teams figs for a week and can it be any version?

I like this idea very much. I would love to participate as well. I love all eras, but I have to say I would side on the nFo for this competition. I think they molds are improving more and more. So yeah, I have to declare nFo.

Thanks FF for the question.

As far as I know, it's for the entire being. We're building armies on both sides. It's not reset. Come Monday, each side will reveal their 5 characters. It might be a good idea to PM each other about who should be used cuz as you saw with "dateframe", that wasn't a very good choice. Feel free to retract and well... There are plenty of characters to choose from. By moving it to 5 chars a week, we can focus on THOSE 5 figures (per team) and see what we can really do to showcase them.

As I said before... I'm all for this, but I'm not sure why we need "teams"... I think the whole thing would be really cool if everyone involved just did like one large dio with the two factions... you know, like an all out war between the new and the old (didn't someone do a dio like this?)

It's just my opinion... I just think all these rules, teams, and what figs are and are not allowed is killing the fun. Just grab some figs, your camera, and shoot them... there's not really a need to overkill it with rules.

I concur a lot of the rules can kill it in the end.

I was thinking the same thing...too many rules and it will stop being fun. I would like it better if characters weren't "taken" by one "side" or the other. O-ring fans should post pics of o-ring figures, and 25th fans should post pics of 25th figures regardless of whether someone else has used the same character or not. But that's just my opinion!

Agree. Let it be FREE. The Limit (cap) is the Imagination!

The point of 'blocking' is to get people to use what has been chosen. A lot of us need a bit of direction and it's MORE fun to see what people can do with a specific set of tools. That's why when Shane wrote it all up, the idea was, "What can Ender, Outrider, Urban Sabateur, etc do with Major Bludd?" And let's face it, some figures from teh ARAH are better than the 25A and vice versa. We just want to showcase what we can do.

The 'team' concept is more ARAH vs 25A with Bastard Era (JvC-DTC) thrown in the middle.

IF things were 'free', then we'd go back to focusing Weekend Warriors to just characters.

okay Craig Chose The Dtc Bludd. But I Don't Have That Version. So Can I Use Any Version Of Bludd Or Or Firefly Or Cobra Commander Etc.???

Time to leave the fence. Number me among the ranks of the OWN

Sonneilon

That's a Shane question. I'm not entirely sure cuz I forgot to bring up the concept of 'versions' and 'editions'. For now, Flatline, I'd say so.

And with the OWN staking claim on Firefly, Bludd and whoever else, isn't that FUN to block the nFo from using them??? ;)

Ok. The rules have changed again. What # was I on again?

After the week, the teams are reset. 1st come, 1st serve!!!

AND

The CAP has been lifted. The CAP was due to the 'teams' staying stagnant cuz we'd run out of figures pretty fast if everyone was just throwing down. BUT now that Shane sez the 'teams' are reset, the CAP can be lifted!

It's a free-for-all!!!

What about customs?

One thing that I really like about the new figures are the amount of detail and how interchangeable they are with other lines -- Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. That's something the classic figures never could do except from within their own line.

OWN has the advantage of swapping body parts, but NFO customs are pretty cool.

There are some exceptional molds out there like:

-25th Airborne
-Resolute Duke
-Resolute Cobra Trooper

..that can hold out on their own.

There are a couple more I suppose.

P.S. I haven't chosen a side between the N.F.O. and the O.W.N.

I might as well be like the Swiss and stay neutral. :D

Okay, I just wanna' make sure I totally understand the rules before I give it a shot (tee hee, puns). And yes, I'm an NFO guy.

1) Once a character is used by one person on either side - just to be crazy let's say Flint ;) - no one else on the other team can use said character, correct?
2) At 12:01 am on Monday, it's a whole new "draft"? So new characters (or old, depending on whether or not the other team is using them) are selected for the teams?
3) The pics MUST rock?

This is a great idea, and the pics it's generating are fantastic! With work, writing, etc. getting in the way, I haven't been all that great about coming up with pic ideas, much less taking them. This will most definitely help.

Have fun, all!!!

I FOR ONE NEVER CARED FOR THE RULES AND POSTED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS WITHIN YOUR GUIDE LINES. IT WAS A COOL IDEA THANK YOU AND GRAHM FOR SPARKING SOME VERY CREATIVE IDEAS IN ME. I HOPE WE CAN TRY IT AGAIN LATER DOWN THE ROAD. PEACE
