I have found that one on of the hardest thing to do with people’s dios are remembering what has happened in the past. Not just from chapter to chapter or episode to episode, but whole stories! I don’t know why it’s hard for me. For an example, I swear GeneralHawk (Justin from JBL) was running two stories at once. I try to give a little recap in the beginning of each chapter/episode so I can jog the memory of those who are like me. Also, it helps ME remember what’s happening. Especially when MONTHS or YEARS happen between parts.
I’m a bit anal when it comes to titling my dios. With all the stories I’ve done, I’ve learned to look at these like, well, books or movies in a series. For example, take Star Wars. The whole shebang is called Star Wars. It is then broken down into Episodes. Then the title of the episode. Star Wars : Episode 4 : A New Hope. Then, maybe comic books and GI Joe in particular is even worse! Look at the toy brand. GI Joe : A Real American Hero (aka, ARAH). Delve further and you get GI Joe : A Real American Hero : Joe Vs Cobra (this was the 1st theme in the ‘Bastard Era’ stuff). Then there was GI Joe : A Real American Hero : Spy Troops. And then onto Valor Vs Venom, Sigma6/Robot Rebellion/Rise of the Robots and concurrently with that, DTC (Direct to Consumer) and now, GI Joe : A Real American Hero : 25th Anniversary (or Modern Age since the 25th A was dropped and the ‘from the comic’ or ‘from the cartoon’ is used now).
That leaves me to my mess of things. And when I redid my first real big dio (ie; the 1st one I’m proud of…), I re-titled it and made it a mess.
Here goes to help you guys out a tiny bit.

Modern Age tells the stories that are happening now and slightly in the future (uh, I think so on the latter part...). If I did it correctly, the stories have a timeline.
Archives tells stories BEFORE Transformations.
SYNOPSIS
TRANSFORMATIONS
Kamakura and Snake Eyes infiltrate a Cobra R&D installation. The pair of ninja find an odd device created and built by Overkill. Deciding that they need to inform General Hawk of what they found, they attempt to leave. Before they can even get out of the chamber, they run into Ghost Bear, Razor Claw and a bunch of Razor Troopers. Kamakura is ordered to get out while Snake Eyes is taken prisoner. Snake Eyes is thrown into what becomes known as the TRANSFORMATION chamber. He comes out as a new man. *snicker*
Due to the increase of Cobra spreading their disease around the world, the GI Joe team has been broken down into specialized teams. Flint and Hawk create the Rapid Response Tactical Team (RRTS). Lt. Graydon along with a crew of 5 others are sent in to rescue Snake Eyes.
Instead they run into nitemarish creatures. The RRTS1 undercover what the Transformation does, what the experiments were down there and worse yet, Snake Eyes throws himself to the mercy of the monsters while the RRTS retreats. Their mission, a failure.
Or is it? Soon after, LowLight and Bombstrike head BACK into the R&D installation WHICH Cobra Commander had re-opened for an investigation. As it turns out, Ghost Bear and Major Bludd had led incursions into the installation (at a slight earlier date) and been imprisoned. It is revealed where the monsters were really coming from and a new enemy has come to face the world.
After the Joes escape from the installation, the fight continues under the EMP located in Seattle, Washington. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow fight the warlord and his first warrior to the end.
*The original story had War For Territory as the titling of the sequel. At some point, I changed it up so the sequel became part of the Transformations storyline.
*With the exception of the title War For Territory, all titles are Iron Maiden tracks. War For Territory comes from Sepultura. I decided then that, technically, each 'big' dio would take songs from a particular group. This would help keep it distinct from other dios that would use title tracks from other music groups.
*The end alien warrior doesn't actually die. If the reader can catch it, he and his 1st warrior can teleport from spot to spot.
*A range of toys were used. Lizardmen from the Spiderman toys, the red creatures from Alien Racers, CloneTroopers from SW and a couple of Microman figures from the Microman line. BUT none represent that particular toyline.
*One of the most notable elements is the brother/sister relationship between Gung Ho and Bombstrike.
*Introduces Lt. Graydon, a customized GI Joe, who isn't Flint, Duke or Hawk. (Or Beach Head or Stalker, for that matter!)
*Readers got the chance to meet Major Barrage and despite rank, he's about as green as Bombstrike!
*Readers notice that there is VERY lil use of the CORE in the ways EVERYONE was used to. Until this dio showed up, people were used to comic CORE AND they were used to Spy Troops and the VvV versions of characters.
*This was a chance to take GI Joe in the direction I always wanted. To make it sci-fi/horror-ish without being too unbelievable.
*The fact that the aliens come from a dimension tear in space comes DIRECTLY from THE MIST by Stephen King (and way before the movie came out). The premise was the monsters in THE MIST came from the military experimenting with lasers and cutting the fabric of our reality. This fact was VERY tongue in cheek.

SYNOPSIS
THE ISLAND
"The Island" was based heavily on the influence of the TV show LOST. Anybody who read this could see that. But this story also allowed for me to continue building my universe.
The Steel Brigade are the last class of Greenshirts before becoming full-fledged Joes. To reach full Joe-dom, they have to pass a series of tests. In this case, Scarlet is sent into a Cobra R&D so they can work on their 'detective' skills. Scarlet is the grader and there is NO instruction other than Scarlet barking orders to see if the SB can follow them. They are accompanied by Lt. Graydon (who needed to get back on the horse since Transformations, his last mission) and a small squad of Greenshirts.
Unfortunately, all hell has broken out on the island and the Joe team is shot down. By the time they get into the research center, one Greenshirt is already dead and there are a lot of dead Cobras. More horrific experiments have taken place and this time, the Joe team has to get out. What a test for the Steel Brigade!
At the same time, Cobra Commander has created a new airship. Using holograms, it looks like a US aircraft carrier and GI Joe has been sent to destroy it. Things happen faster than a flick of an eye and GI Joe has to turn around before attacking it because something has happened in the real world...
*I lost interest in this one which explains why Ep3 happens quickly. I also went thru a divorce at this time. Combine ALL that with the fact that I didn't have a MODEL of a full-sized airship for Cobra, well...
*Readers got to see a new crew involved in the story BUT I kept a couple of mainstays as to not totally lose the readers. Graydon and Gray Wolf, for example.
*Some excellent shots involved in this dio. Particularly a Steel Brigade repelling scene.
*Tho it's VERY tongue-in-cheek, anyone notice that Graydon always gets dealt very bizarre missions???
*I had fun using McFarlane's Cyberunits as Cobra's next big experiment!
*Notice the use of the OLD monsters which Cobra had cloned!
*Gnarly dark scenes NOT using x-mas lights!
*I can't remember WHY the Joes break off the attack on the cobra airship (was supposed to be designed AFTER the Shield heli-carrier from the marvel Ultimate Alliance video game!) but there MAY be a discrepency between the end of this story AND the 1st chapter of DOOMSDAY MACHINE!

SYNOPSIS
HUNT FOR SONNEILON
A Cobra agent that has had some use in the past but barely none has finally emerged. This Predator-like montrosity enjoys taking out GI Joe members. Some have been under order. Some not. The Joes, hearing reports about a new Cobra weapons, are out looking for it. But instead, they keep on running into this power-suited warrior. Sonneilon has put MORE Joes in the hospital than the morgue, although that number isn't very different.
The Joes give up on the hunt when Cobra finally strikes first!
*I finally get in the action!!! ToneGuns, Ender, Lord Raven and many others have all shown up in my dios, why not ME? WHAT ABOUT ME??? *snicker*
*Sonneilon is NOT a Wraith knock-off. This guy is far more evil and sadistic. Afterall, he let Duke, Beach Head and Snake Eyes live! He has his reasons, which may or may not be revealed
*This was a chance to pare down the team and set up a situation of using OTHER Joes in a main story. Sure, we get that all the team, but I have my likes and dislikes with characters. There are so many I WANT to use, but like the cartoon, they get a bit over-shadowed by the big names.
*Notice that I backtrack on one particularly character. Alpine. A lot of who Sonneilon killed are characters that were NEVER gonna be made by Hasbro. Therefore, there's no harm in killing them off. OR is there???
*It's been said that I don't have enough action. Well, I think I tend to try push the story forward and create relationships more than action. Look at the organic chemistry of Bombstrike & Gung Ho and now, Bazooka & Gen. Hawk.
*This was a terrific chance to showcase what the 25A can do and to throw down some good old fight scenes! That is something I don't often do.
*The last part was a lead in to what was supposed to be the Doomsday Machine's Prologue but it ended up being the 1st chapter. Oh well...

SYNOPSIS
DOOMSDAY MACHINE
Cobra has developed a new weapon and instead of waiting to tell the world about it, they strike first. GI Joe, already hurting from the beating Sonneilon has given them, breaks off the hunt to deal with this new problem.
*This story is still being told! I can't reveal much cuz I don't even know where it's going. But I have ideas.
*Expect sci-fi/horror elements to show up.
*More cities obliterated, this time around the world.
*Read Dan Brown's "ANGELS AND DEMONS". ;)
*I will be using titles from Arch Enemy.
*With most of the characters I prefer to use, I'll have to create personas for most of the new ones, right? It's an exercise in working with what you have! And yes, Falcon will show up! (I already stated that Tunnel Rat and Tripwire will get love!)
*Finally, the use of General Hawk and Cobra Commander in a story! But are they as YOU saw him? It better be since you guys gave me ideas on how to make Cobra and CC work!!!
*It's mean, but just how many of you remember some of my older shots? When you see what's coming, it might jog your memory a tiny bit. "Oh yeah, I remember him using that in a shot..." ;)
*The original plan of mixing HALO into the Joe verse will NOT be happening. Not really. From what I gathered, HALO warriors are pretty much super warriors so they have been... uh, injected with growth hormones, steroids, etc. Therefore, they stand much taller than the average human being. BUT I've given that up cuz, well, the McFarlane toys are RATHER f'n fragile!!!
*I do NOT plan to use Nemesis Enforcer. Sorry. But hey, CrocMaster showed up!
*Not sure what else is in store or at least, I don't want to tell anyone! Find me on MSN and I'll bounce ideas off you and well, THAT will give an indication of what's to come. Right Shane, Frank, Kevin and Luis??? Carlos, look out, you're next in the line of fire!!!

Let me speak on this real quick.
The never created dio, "A Matter of Anti-Matter" fell apart when I saw DOOM. I missed it on the big screen, but after viewing that, I went apenuts. The Snake Eyes/Kamakura 1-shot had already been done and was to be stand alone but I had 20-some people asking, "What happens next???" Uh, hello. THis is Hasbro makes their figures! They throw in an old version, spin the thingy and out pops a new version!
That humor was lost on 99% of the people out there.
The Anti-Matter dio fell part and I created something entirely different. That's when I realized that what I really want to do is NOT just a normal GI Joe adventure. I want to be out there in left-field. In the next city in the next baseball field? As a kid, I always wanted GI Joe to go up against... Well, anything BUT Cobra. That's when I started watching Aliens, Predator and Doom a lot. I mean, A LOT. It's reflected in all my work.
What does Doomsday Machine have to do with anything? Well, the original weapon was... uh... It's a story I've wanted to do for years. But the Island got in the way. Just see how it all plays out. ;)
And yes, I want to be the Paul K Anderson of dios (Mortal Kombat, Event Horizon, Resident Evil). NOT George Lucas but sometimes it feels like that!
Thx for putting up with this. Hope this helps!
Thx for putting up with this. Hope this helps!
It does! I never really followed your dios because the hassle of e-mailing to request the file seemed like too much trouble to go through (wow, did that sound lazy or what??)... Now that you're hosted by Lehsreh, I plan to follow along, so this was very useful in getting caught up!!

Actually, emailing it and downloading the file brings up the images FASTER than a website. I actually like the underground route. But as it stands, Transformations and Island are underground only. There IS a reason for that. 1) I don't want kill Lehsreh and 2) some of it is under CBC. MY CBC didnt' change pages to JPG and when ToneGuns did it for me, they turned out fuzzyh. Either way, its a lose-lose situation. So unless you have Adobe Acrobat, Island is UNviewable.
But Transformations... It's a fun dio. I loved doing it. Grab a CASE of beer, turn off the lights and put in a Fear Factory or Chimaira cd and you're good.

Holy moly I only asked for a list!
Amazing amount of work there Sonnilon and the synopises will be very usefull.
You are right that its difficult to remember the story from dio authour to dio author but what helps me is to think of their own characters they put in Agent Wilkens in General Joes, Rev from Tim Elf, Pitfall from Violentfix's dios, Riddick and Pimp Destro from Lerhesh's stories, Toxie from Toxieviper and offcourse Sonnelion from Sonnilions dios. In anycase the synopsis is an great help thanks a lot!

Uh, Riddick shoulda been from Ender098s shorts. Frank and Shane (Lord Raven) did a dio together which was pretty amazing.
