I recently put shots of my 2 hiss up on hisstank and the amount of people asking me to make them one is astounding. I've never done commission work and didn't know what to charge. So much to the dismay of my whining and bitching, Rachel used her powers over me to make me put one up on ebay to see what it would fetch and see if it would be worth it to make more. :( I'm upset about it but you know how women/fincee's/wifes can be. She said I have too many joes and I should take advantage of my talent, whatever the hell that means. But in case you want to check it out....

women, jeez. (no offense to any women reading this, its a case by case basis I know) It's not always about money you know? I just like to make them, its hard for her to understand. But she said I could not build another one until one was gone. O well at least I'll get to make a fresher, better one.

I think you started the bidding too low. I'm sure it will get up there because its a beautiful piece but I'd have at least started the bidding at the cost of the base vehicle. But that's just me. I'm sure you have your reasons and I respect that (and totally get the girl comin' down on you, mine still gives me looks when a new custom magically appears on the shelf)
Good luck with the auction. If I had any spare cash I'd definitely make a run for it.

It's definitely a cool looking Hiss,i really like the Color.I'll say you'll get a pretty good price out of it,people don't mind paying a little more for a Custom someone really put their Time & effort in.I do have one question, where do you get all the Pack's you put all over it,i've looked around for Pack's like those but couldn't find any.The closest i've came to finding some that looked close to your's is from Build-A-Rama.

Same here Dude! You'll get a great price out of it, but you definitely should start out at the base price. Personally I would also add to the base price(a), the cost of all the stowage and other add-ons (b) plus cost of paint (c) then add at least 15% (d) of that to a final price for a commission job [a+b+c+d=X]. It's a reasonable price, gives you the practice (not that you need it) and above that puts a beautiful piece of art in the hands of another collector!
BTW, Mysterious Stranger - I know the look you're talking about, my wife looks at me with that "I can't believe you've done it again" look, then goes out and gets shoes....Oh well.

I always just start them low, like I said this just a fiancee induced experiment to see what its worth to people. and about the look Rachel gives me jeez. It all started when I got a new dtc hiss in the mail yesterday. Lets just say she thought 3 customs of the same thing is excessive. pfff! what does she know ;)

Well fellas, first I agree with you guys. Sometimes I tend to nag Cory about his countless joes. (Even though I love them! I do! I even have my own small collection.) But second, I just really think some (hehe) of the stuff he makes is really good. Heck, even all his non joe loving, ex football teamates, drunkin idots love the stuff he makes and are always eager to see what he is working on.
It's just that...he is a pack rat, not just about joes but everything. For instance his office is full and our huge 2 car garage can only barely fit one car ( his! ) and when he said he was gonna start another hiss, I just thought since he had so many request to build them for others, he should sell some and then be able to buy new joe stuff!!! (See I'm not that bad right?)I just figured he could add to his collection different things beside having a giant army of his custom tanks which he doesn't like to share :p I think even now he agress anyway. I just thank you guys for being so supportive of him and giving him a place to rant...even if it is about me ;)

Upon Rachel's disclosure...Dude! No wonder she's pi$$$$ed! I've been a pack rat all my life because the minute you get rid of something, you'll need it, but I came to the realization earlier this year, I haven't touched some of the crap I've been squirreling away for over ten (10) years. After a year, if you don't use it, the likelihood that you will begins to drop 20% every year there after. Soon you have no room to move but lots of potential things.
None of my business, but maybe it is time to evaluate and eliminate.

I'll say you'll get a good price out of it,i've watched Auction's before with the Price real low thinking,"oh yeah i'm about to snatch a bargain"!! Then right around the 5 minute mark,BAM the price goes CRAZY! :( And about the Pack's on it,you get the Big one's from B-a-R.Do you get all the little one's there also, and what about the piece with the Bullet's attached to it that go to the front Gun's?
