i thought that most of us are into more then just joes. so a news and rumors thread would be great. for example stuff like upcoming games, movies and comics. anyone know anything new about maybe a new transformers movie, the fan joe movie or any other cool comic or sci-fi movie, this is the place to let the rest of us know about it.

anyone know anything about the other pirates movie? there are supposed to be more, but anyone know any news. how about a new resident movie? i know a new hulk movie is being made, or already made. with norton as banner. its not part 2 of the junk we got a few years ago. anyone have any idea who the villain is? post away, let us in on the gossip. just so everyone knows, Dukes been cast and he's going to be played by actor Channing Tatum, i went over to IBDM to see his work and he hasn't appeared in a lot of films in fact he's only been in three plus the guy's only about 27 years old give or take :( i was really hoping for a more seasoned actor but oh well

yeah, i saw that today. im guessing their going for a younger duke. he may be 27, but he kinda looks 19, so does the guy playing cobra commander.

it is confirmed that larry hama will be a creative consultant for the new joe movie. still, can he even help with all the damage done? also, it is now known that David Murray(whoever he is) is now cast as destro. and in case anyone missed it, Arnold Vosloo(the guys who played the mommy) is cast as zartan. at first i wasnt happy about vosloo, but now that i think of it, he can pull it off , and the murray guy, it is said that he acts on stage. who better to portray the nobility of destro... im still thinking its going to suck:(

If anyone watches 24, Arnold Vosloo also played Marwan, the terrorist leader in season 4. He was definitely one of 24's cooler villains.

And with regards to Larry Hama as a creative consultant on the movie-- As I recall, Simon Furman, who is more or less the Transformers' version of Hama, was signed as a consultant on the TF movie. I believe he said he met with the producers once, very early in production, tossed some ideas out there, and then never heard from them again... So unfortunately, I wouldn't expect much, if any, actual contributions from Larry Hama with regards to the movie.

I read the Destro casting earlier today. Don't know the guy, appears to be Scottish. Can't really criticise someone I've not seen. On the plus side, casting an unknown means they're likely to keep the mask on instead of having to get the star's face on screen all the time (I'm looking at you, Tobey McGuire).

What I read at the same time that I didn't know before -- Dennis Quaid is Hawk, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who I'd seen mentioned in connection with Cobra Commander and Zartan) is apparently Rex. Oh. Yay. I thought we were rid of that character... It's ridiculous, there's SO MANY existing Joes and they could portray any of them as a rookie-type (I mean, if Wayans is Ripcord...) but no, the movie-makers know better and have to cock their leg and mark their territory by making up their own guy and naming him after the pet dog (Indiana works, but Rex...?).

Saddest thing? No Cobra Commander. :(

Here's where I read it, and there's a pic of the Destro actor:

Destro played by Dr Who? That's kinda cool.

Eccleston? Bugger. I can see him being a little too over-emphatic.

Regarding the game, if it's due to come out at the same time as the movie I'd think it'd be pretty much a certainty that it'll be a movie-based game... I'd be surprised if Hasbro had any GI Joe product around that wasn't movie-based, as that's what they did with Transformers. Also, I'd lay odds we'll see a new GI Joe cartoon in 2010 or late 2009 that follows the format of the movie (international characters, black Ripcord, etc).

theres a rumor floating around that snake-eyes will be sportin shades instead of a full face mask, i really hope this is a rumor and not true i mean there is so much about this flick i'm not likin(what jacka$$ came up with the movies title?) and not having a masked snake-eyes from the word go is a really bad mistake imo

just found out that we are going to be getting some battle packs from the cartoon mini series. each will have between 3 and 4 figures. the sets include the mass device(which we have already saw the commander with the hard element). the weather dominator, arise serpentor arise, pyramid of darkness(dont know who were getting from these 3) and the animated movie(which is where the falcon/nemesis comes into play). these will be around the 19.99 price range.

we will also be getting some vehicle other then the ones we already knew of. so far there will the V.A.M.P. and armadillo vs. serpentor’s chariot. the price for these will be around 14.99 each, not sure if the armadillo vs the chariot will be 14.99. im guessing not.

as for the single packs, so far there are 40 set for 08 at 5.99 each. and the 12 inch line is coming back. dont know what characters there will be yet, but the price will be around the same as the vehicles. kinda costly im thinking, but i dont know as i never bought 12 before.

If you guys want the truth, the truth is this. The ARAH sculpts are getting worn out. Hasbro lost a whole lotta of them back when and they tried to recover what they could. But molds break over time. I got the idea that every time a mold is used, it wears it out even more.

If you notice, the ConSets are moving towards Nu Skulpt and from what I've read, Hasbro is even phasing THOSE out! You want o-ring and the old arm styles, you might have to go with the THeme Years stuff no matter how much you hate it. If Hasbro has to lose the o-ring, then at least do the SW peg waist swivel! But that doesn't bug me nearly as much as the arm articulation.

The fact that the con sets are also probably going to be 25th style is very disappointing, they were my last source of new figures. I guess that means that apart from a few stray older figures I still need to chase up, my Joe buying days are over. The only positive is that I'll now have more to spend on my other hobbies!

I REALLY hope that it's just whoever died that's American and not her. I mean, why hire a non-American to play a character who's not American in the source material and then change things so she has to put on an American accent...?

25th-scale figures, DDP losing the license and so throwing the future of the comics continuity into doubt, the movie veering wildly from the source material and a precedent of movie changes being retro-fitted into the subsequent iterations of a franchise... I get the feeling Hasbro is trying to get rid of me...!

Yeah, I'm sure Larry Hama would be a little offended by what he says at the end.

I get worried when actors talk about roles just being "fun" when they're action & comicbook style movies. If they're not taking the role seriously it can really come across to the audience and ruin the movie -- prime example being Batman & Robin, where the cast in interviews was always saying how their role was just fun and playing with the costumes and gadgets and stuff...

And seeing him interviewed here, even with his beard-attempt, still has me thinking Gordon-Levitt is WAY to young to be CC.

Fraser being Gung-Ho...come on, you got to be kidding!!!

Well, at least what El Mayimbe says about "Gung-Ho being the most Village people-ish of the joes" is true if Fraser indeed has the part...still hoping they mixed it though...

But wouldnt Stone Cold Steve Austin be the most logical choice to play Gung-Ho, especially if its a one scene cameo, I mean the size, attitude, and the looks....just grow a moustache and learn cajun...

Seen ever the movie The Condemned? It has Gung-ho written all over Stone Cold...Ex marine, no nonsense attitude...

i have herd others say that stone cold should be gung ho. to be honest i never even thought of him, but he would fit the part.
isnt it bad that we waited 25 years for a movie and now that we get one it will not be worth watching because the stupid casting people dont know anything about G.I. Joe. Lucas does it best, use no names or little known actors. that way there is no preconceived notion toward them.

In a recent ONLINE POLL run by Hasbro, a mysterious figure named `Specialist Trakker’ showed up in a list of upcoming G.I.Joe figures, causing people to question if this guy had any connection with the classic 80's M.A.S.K. line from Kenner. So we went to Hasbro's G.I.Joe Brand Manager Neal Hoffman and asked. Here is what he said:

"I can confirm for you that Matt Trakker will be a tribute to the 80's M.A.S.K. line. Just a single figure cross-over; shout out to the 80's."
