My favorite battle for the cartoon would have to be the opening sequence to the movie. A ton of awesome fighting going one and plus in an awesome setting on and around the Statue of Liberty. And as for the comics, I've never really read that much but I thouroughly enjoyed the Cobra Civil War and the battles in it. They felt like real military large scale scuffles and there were some great tactical moves made by all sides. It was very enjoyable for me to get a hand on those comic packs and read all the stuff I missed out on.

Oh and lehsreh, I enjoyed that one too, along with all of the crazy insects they had to battle. :) In fact I don't feel the movie gets enough credit. It was crazy and had a ton of weird elements to it, but as a kid who wouldn't love to see all of that going on?

i agree, the movie does not get enough credit. some say its because there is to much fake in it. but ive read all the comics and there is just as much fake in them as there is the movie. snake eyes being brought back from the dead, cloning sepentor, snake eyes killing the whole cobra army and then letting CC live. i loved the movie, it had a huge impact on my joe world as did the cartoons. always nice to see some cartoon fans on here beside me:)

The entire run!!!

Seriously, it's really hard to pick out only one..........the series, while all different, hinges on all the episodes playing out like one big life's story

But if I had to, I'd pick out the M.A.S.S. Device storyline and Arise Serpentor, Arise

not the figure of Lady Jaye-but in the cartoon she was wearing a blue version of her regular uniform....I just always assumed she was in the Marauders.

Come to think of it,a Slaughter's Marauders custom Lady Jaye would be pretty sweet............. :p

I'll have to agree with Flint's first post and go with The Revenge of Cobra. We had all five episodes recorded on Beta (for those of you who know what that is :) ) And in between the last three episodes of that we had the first three episodes of Transformers "More Than Meets The Eye." So needless that was my favorite beta tape.

The Revenge Of Cobra is VERY good! Introductions of a lot of great characters, like Lady Jaye,Flint, and Storm Shadow, and vehicles, like the Killer W.H.A.L.E.

Excellent story, the Weather Dominator was awesome-and we got The Baroness in her trademark Black Leather! :p

Ex-cell-ent!

wow i remember those, i didn't have one, but i had one of those old stand on the floor tvs,it was like a 30 inch with wood around it. and i remember when cable came down, the cable box had like hbo, disny, and i remember when mtv came on the first time, i was about 6 or 7. man i feel old, I'm only 29,lol :D

Ya, we recorded everything off of the TV. Our beta tape collection was categorized A-Z, and each letter had 1-10 in it's category. So needless to say, we had a lot of videos to watch. My Mom is currently converting from beta to VHS, and from VHS to DVD.

Best cartoon battle was the battle for Washington D.C. It's different in that the Joe beat back a Cobra offensive, as opposed to taking the fight to Cobra's base.

I found the final battles in MASS and Revenge of Cobra and Pyramid of Darkness lacking upon repeat viewing. They all amount to GI JOE bum-rushing Cobra's base...Cobra commander trying last ditch things to stop them...in Pyramid, they go even further and leave the battle and then there's that space ship thing, which compensates for the lackluster Cobra base with the sonic weapon they fled, I suppose..

GI JOE the movie's one is alright, bizarre though. When you think about the end, the Joes committed genocide on an ancient sentient race. But, uh, not much other choice...since Cobra-La wanted to more or less do the same thing to humanity (The humans of Cobra being useful idiots to help them accomplish that.)

I rewatched most of OPERATION DRAGONFIRE...hard to get through at times. The pacing is slow compared to Sunbow, not nearly as engaging. The continuity is decent with Sunbow and at least CC, Slaughter and Baroness sound like themselves. Cobra's plans are unravelled by roaches short circuiting access Scoop's file....yeah. Interesting to see characters from that era animated. Night Viper used as a Cobra's default troop much of the time. TARGATs making a brief appearance. So many of the 1989 joes ignored entirely...even SNAKE EYES! Yet, thanks to Python Patrol, Copperhead gets more screentime than he did on Sunbow's run.

One DIC episode where the Joe have a new vehicle the Battle Axe, a axe shaped big tank thing...so Hasbro-like its scary! It's one where Topside, Ambush and Pathfinder join Cobra to find the Joe's security leak.

I forgot to mention-in the comics my favorite ultimate battle was the Cobra Civil War!

Excellent story-Cobra Commander vs. Serpentor with the GI Joe Team backing Serpy!

Add the Iron Grenadiers,Tons of Joes,non-stop action, and wonderful art by both Ron Wagner and the late Marshall Rogers.

My favorite parts include Lt.Falcon leading the Recon Team-"Open Sanction! That makes this whole island a Free-Fire Zone! There are only six of us!" Not cowardly, not macho-Falcon responded as most soldiers would to that dangerous order, against such long odds.

I also loved the aerial battle as Maverick and Wild Bill strove to cover the Joe Team's Assault Landing.Maverick's Steely-Eyed glint as he pulled up into the attack is a sight to behold!

All-in-all,I think the Cobra Civil War was the High-water Mark of the GI Joe Comics.
